3. Introduction to ERP
• Enterprise resource planning (ERP) is business management
software—usually a suite of integrated applications—that a
company can use to store and manage data from every stage
of business
• ERP provides an integrated real-time view of core business
processes, using common databases maintained by a
database management system. ERP systems track business
resources—cash, raw materials, production capacity—and
the status of business commitments: orders, purchase orders,
and payroll.

5. Introduction To SAP
• Found in 1972 - System Analysis and Program Development
• Systems, Applications and Products in Data Processing.
• In 1973, the first commercial product was launched. The SAP
R/1, as it was called, offered a common system for multiple
tasks. This permitted the use of a centralized data storage,
improving the maintenance of the data.
• 1979, SAP launched SAP R/2, expanding the capabilities of the
system to other areas, such as material management and
production planning.
• 1992, SAP developed and released several versions of R/3
