Paul wrote to the Thessalonians to defend his ministry among them from accusations. He summarized that he had (1) a sincere heart in preaching the gospel boldly despite suffering, (2) an honest heart in pleasing God rather than people and speaking the truth, (3) a concerned heart in not flattering them for gain but caring for their welfare like nurturing children, and (4) a compassionate heart in discipling them holistically as a father would children.
