to:
• Define values and recognize how they guide our
communicative behavior.
• Note the differences in values from culture to culture.
• Define beliefs and recognize their purpose.
• Explain the role of worldview in life.
• Describe attitudes, their formation and qualities.

4. After studying chapter 7, you should be able
to:
• Understand cultural antipathy.
• Define ethnocentrism, describe its function and
understand its causes.
• Define stereotyping, know how people distort reality,
and know how stereotypes are transmitted.
• Define prejudice, know how it is communicated,
know its causes and functions, and describe ways of
intervening.
