2. THE YOUNGEST SURGEON
• At the age of 23, Dr. Yan Katsnelson became
the youngest surgeon in Israel to perform
complex heart surgeries that helped save
dozens of lives.
• Building on that start, he now has almost two
decades worth of experience in the field of
cardiothoracic and vascular surgery.
3. AMERICAN HEARTSAVER
• Over the years Yan Katsnelson has been given
numerous honors and awards for both his
clinical and his scientific work, including being
named an American Heartsaver in 2002.
4. ACHIEVEMENTS OF DR
KATSNELSON
• To complete his fellowship Yan Katsnelson
joined one of the most prestigious
cardiovascular programs in the world at the
Harvard Medical School, Boston.
• He gained extensive praise and recognition
and his picture still hangs on the "Wall of
Fame" of the Department of Cardiothoracic
Surgery to this day.
5. TYPES OF SURGERIES PERFORMED
• Once his training was complete Yan
Katsnelson moved on to the University of
Chicago Hospitals. There he routinely
performed a wide variety of cardiovascular
surgeries including coronary artery bypass
surgeries, aortic and mitral valve repair and
replacements and even heart transplants.
6. INNOVATIVE TREATMENTS
• Over the years, Yan Katsnelson also developed
a keen interest in the treatment of varicose
