2. Introduction
Mother Nature has showed us many different types of
extreme weather. Things such as severe thunderstorms,
hurricanes and earthquakes but one of the most
unpredictable and dangerous ones are tornadoes.
Tornadoes are very powerful force that should never be
underestimated. Tornadoes can cause a lot of pain and
destruction. There are tornado watches and even tornado
warnings, however more times that not they are not enough
to save a lives and property.
3. What is it?
•A tornado is a mobile, destructive vortex of
violently rotating winds having the appearance of a
funnel-shaped cloud and advancing beneath a large
storm surge
5. Where is it happening?
• Tornadoes occur in many different parts of the world such as
Australia, Europe, Africa, Asia, and South America. However
tornadoes are most common in the area nick-named “Tornado Alley”
which is located in America’s Plain states such as Oklahoma, Kanas,
Texas, Nebraska, Eastern South Dakota, and Eastern Colorado.
7. How does it affect life on earth?
•Tornadoes affect life on earth by killing and
injuring people.
•Tornadoes affect life on earth by destroying
property.
•Tornadoes affect life on earth by picking up dirt
and removing soil which can harm plant and
animal life.
9. Historical background
•The first ever recorded tornado was in Europe on
April 30, 1054.
•The widest tornado ever recorded was on May
31, 2013 in Central Oklahoma.
•The most deadliest tornado ever recorded was
the “Tri-State Tornado” in Missouri, Illinois
(1925)which killed 695 people and injured over
2,000 people.
11. Are there any problems?
•One problem would be is that there is not
enough warning time.
•Another problem would be that it is impossible
to stop or prevent a tornado.
•Lastly would be the high cost of damage caused
by tornadoes.
12. Are there any solutions?
•One possible solution might be to come up with
a more advanced system to predict tornadoes.
•More studies done on tornadoes to find out as
much information about them as possible.
•Lastly would be to be properly prepared
especially if you live in or around “Tornado
Alley.”
13. Conclusion
Mother Nature’s natural disaster of
tornadoes have showed us time and time again
just how powerful and unpredictable the are.
There have been many lives lost and costly
property destruction. Hopefully with more
research we will learn more about them and save
lives and property.
