What are the effects of sea levels
rising due to global warming?

2. Hypothesis
• With rising sea levels due to global warming
more endangered species will die out and
become extinct because there will be less land
to find necessities in survival.
3. Design an experiment
• To test our hypothesis we will observe
endangered species and their habitats. We
will look to see how the habitats change over
time due to sea level increase.
4. Sea Level Rise Locations
• Southeast US coastal areas, specifically South
Carolina.
• Asian and pacific islands are also at risk to
severe land destruction, potential submerging,
which directly leads to loss of habitat for
wildlife living there.
5. Endangered Animals Affected?
• South Carolina: American alligator, loggerhead
sea turtle, wood stork, and brown pelican.
With our current sea level rise of over 3mm a
year, over 50% of their habitat zone could get
destroyed.
• Asian and Pacific Islands: Endemic species
could be completely wiped out. 1-4% of island
mass could be lost by end of century. Some
islands could be entirely lost.
6. Conclusion
• YES, sea level rise definitely affects
endangered species. Natural habitats and land
is destroyed, therefore lessening the areas
where they can live. Islands are in an even
potentially more dangerous spot.
