Case Study of Charles Manson Essay
Charles Manson is notoriously connected to the brutal border of Sharon Tate and other Hollywood
residents. Born Charles Milles Maddox to sixteen year old Kathleen Maddox, Charles was born into
mayhem. Kathleen was an alcoholic and a prostitute; she was not very accepting of her son and
showed him no love. Kathleen married William Mason and quickly that marriage dissolved.
Fighting for his mother's attention Charles left his home and lived on the streets. Manson began to
do petty crime to get by. Charles Manson spent about half of his life in prison; he was noted for
being a model prisoner. In 1955 Charles got married to a seventeen year old and moved to
California. She became pregnant and soon after Manson began his life of crime, ... Show more

Finally we look at the sociocultural perspective that focuses on the relationship between social
behavior and culture. The social behavior that he exhibited while moving between relationships and
imprisonment was magnified when The Beatles came out with Helter Skelter.
The two perspectives that seem to best explain the life of Charles Manson are sociocultural and
behavioral. The behavioral perspective represents learned behaviors. At an early age Manson was
around drugs, drinking, and prostitution. Naturally Manson learned that these things were ok. His
mother was a prostitute that wanted nothing to do with her son; she also had a drug problem.
Manson grew up in and out of prison and developed a drug and alcohol problem. Manson could not
have a functioning relationship, his first wife left him due to him being in and out of jail. Manson
second wife was a prostitute and divorced Manson after he was arrested for pimping, stealing, and
conning. After being released from prison Manson headed to San Francisco where he played guitar.
Manson began to develop followers. Manson developed a need for followers, he and his followers
moved to a ranch and soon it became a cult compound for "the family." The consequences of
Manson's actions were reinforced each time he was thrown into prison but let right back out, or each
time he was allowed probation. He was able to commit the crimes knowing he would just be back in
jail and shortly

Charles Manson believed that he was the new Messiah and that after a "nuclear attack" he and his
followers would be saved by hiding in a secret world under the desert. His prophetic visions
included a belief that the race war would result in a black victory, and Manson along with his
Family members would have to mentor the black community, as they would lack experience to run
the planet. As Manson and the Family were to be the beneficiaries of the race war, he told his
followers that they had to help initiate it. On August 9, 1969, at Roman Polanski's Beverly Hills
home at 10050 Cielo Drive. Manson Family members chose–Charles "Tex" Watson, Susan Atkins,
Patricia Krenwinkel and Linda Kasabian–to carry out the murders. Kasabian acted as the ... Show

Then, the intruders entered the house and viciously executed, actress Sharon Tate; writer Wojciech

10, 1969, Manson took Family members Watson, Krenwinkel and Leslie Van Houten to the address
of wealthy supermarket executive Leno LaBianca and his wife, Rosemary, and the couple was
murdered in the same brutal fashion. Manson and his Family were arrested not on suspicion of the
murders but simply on the belief that they had vandalized a portion of the Death Valley National
Park while they were hiding out in the Mojave Desert. The confessions of Susan Atkins, while held
in detention during an unrelated incident led detectives to realize that Manson and his followers
were involved in the Tate/LaBianca killings. The trial began on November 18, and ended on January
25, 1971, it was a very bizarre and arduous process as many witnesses and jurors were intimidated
by Manson, as well as outbursts by Manson and his female accomplices.. Manson, Atkins, Van
Houten, and Krenwinkel, were convicted of first–degree murder, Charles "Tex" Watson was tried
separately and also found guilty of first degree

The Black, And Curly
Dark, matted hair spiraled from his head into several gelled angles, almost hiding his closed eyes.
His lashes were an unnatural black, and curly, but not quite feminine. A small stubble showed that
he was in need of a shave. His skin was a soft mocha color while his cloths blared in a difficult
contrast. He was obviously in a struggle when it all happened, but his face seemed unharmed. The
cuffs of his collared shirt were ripped off, revealing scars and bruises. He couldn't have been any
older than a high school student.
Kile felt slightly intimidated by his looks. No more being the most handsome. Wait, that was stupid!
He is kidnapped, this kid is kidnapped, now this guy! And what does he do? Worry that he isn't the
pretty boy that he had clung on to for most of his life. Now he just felt bad. Kile's almost
illuminating eyes watched Vincent as he too, was fairly curious of this new kidnap–ie. If that was
even a "thing".
The one responsible for all this kidnapping stood back and watched them with crossed arms and his
back against a near by wall. His new special was certainly a different one. He found him most
intriguing. Obviously the young man had Latino origins of sort, but he didn't sound it. When he
lashed out, the kidnapper couldn't help but to be reminded of his father. A thick, low, and almost
always angry Irish accent. How much he hated that man before made it all slightly funny to the man,
that now that man could be even the slightest

Vacation About Vacation
Have you ever been to Nevada, or Utah? I've been and you won't believe what I did! We went to Las
Vegas, Zion Canyon National Park. Then we went to Bryce Canyon, then we went back to Las
Vegas for the last three days that would soon end our vacation. Sunday was my parent's anniversary
and they decided to go on a vacation. Monday mom and I drove up to Kansas City to meet Matt and
eat lunch.
Tuesday, we had to wake up at 3:30 to get ready and board the Spirit Airline. The flight was 2 hours
and 41 minutes. During the flight, we saw mountains, valleys, and lakes. When we arrived in Las
Vegas, we went to spend our day at Red Rock Canyon. We went to the visitor center, read about
scorpions, mice, and tarantulas. Then we went outside to learn about the Canyon and met a tortoise
named Louise. We walked several trails, the Ice Box Trail, Red Rock Wash Overlook. We took
several more trails that were easy or moderate.
We drove to Zion Canyon to spend a couple of days there. On our way, we went through a tunnel,
that went into a mountain. It was amazing, every minute or so there would be a little window in the
rock, where the light came in the tunnel. We took pictures of the sunrise on the rocks. We stayed at
the Quality Inn Montclair Hotel. The Springdale shuttles took us to the visitor center, where we
waited to board the Park shuttle buses. We stopped at stop number nine, Temple of Sinawava, and
walked the Riverside Walk, which was paved and ended where the Narrows began.

The, The Inner World Of The Outcast
Essay 1: Fantastical Realities in the works of Tim Burton "I get so tired of people saying, 'Oh, you
only make fantasy films and this and that', I'm like 'Well no, fantasy is reality', that's what Lewis
Carroll showed in his work," spoke animator, writer, producer, and director Tim Burton in regards to
the themes of depression, isolation, and fear within his collection of work. Influenced by Gothic
fiction and the art and film movements of Expressionism, Surrealism, and Noir, Burton crafts the
inner world of the outcast and explores the ideas of Jungian and Freudian psychoanalysis in his
films, particularly in Vincent (1982), Beetlejuice (1988), and Edward Scissorhands (1990). This
paper will explore Burton's aesthetics of chiaroscuro lighting, color symbolism, and composition to
recreate the realism of human emotions through the eyes of a misunderstood character's solitude in a
highly fantastical world. Burton breaks conventions of narrative Hollywood cinema and focuses less
on the script, but largely on the psyche of the character and the visual outer world that portrays their
inner anxieties. Although, Burton's films are directly influenced by the work of Fritz Lang, F.W.
Murnau, Robert Wiene, and Salvador Dali, he creates his own auteur style by mapping out the
psychological journey of his characters through symbolic hand–drawn concept and costume designs
that mirrors his own struggles of displacement throughout his life. In Tim Burton's 1982 debut

In the home, Sharon Tate, Polanski's pregnant actress wife, was having a small party with her friends
Abigail Folger, Jay Sebring, and Wojciech Frykowski. An 18 year old boy named Steven Parent was
also in the property at the time, visiting the home's caretaker. On this night, Manson had Charles
"Tex" Watson drive some of his girls, Susan Atkins, Patricia Krenwinkel, Leslie Van Houten, Linda
Kasabian, and Lynette "Squeaky" Fromme, over to the Tate house with the instruction to kill and to
"leave something witchy" behind(). Manson told them that they had to kill everyone in the Tate
house to help bring about Helter Skelter. Both Tex and Susan had taken a large amounts of speed
before driving the other girls over to the Tate house. Once at the home, Tex walked through the front
gate to discover Steven Parent in his car, leaving the property. It was then that Tex shot Parent in the
head and told the girls that it was safe to go in. Krenwinkel recalls that she knew "people were going

Infamous cult leader and convicted killer of the 60s Charles Manson died in prison at the age of 83
this Sunday. Manson was known for his involvement in the killings of at least seven people in
California in 1969. This included 8–month–pregnant actress, Sharon Tate. It was found in the trial
that he told his "family" what to do and where, and they carried out his commands. The plan behind
the killings was to start a race war, hoping the killings would be seen a something done by black
people. "If you're going to do something, do it well. And leave something witchy," Manson said in
an interview with Diane Sawyer. There were two killings sites, one with Tate and her friends, the

The 60s were a point when it was normal for teens and young adults to leave home and start their
lives elsewhere, whether or not it was with the hippie movement. It was also when there was a good
amount of civil rights activities were going on and the Black Panthers came on the scene. It was
revealed in a book about Manson that his plan he thought their was going to be a war between
balock and white people. He wanted to start this war with the killings, hoping people would think
black people, or a civil rights group, had committed the murders. In Manson's mind this would have
started the war, which he called Helter Skelter after the Beatles song. Manson's life would most
likely have gone differently if he had a different childhood. He grew up with his aunt and uncle for
most of his young childhood, because his father left and his mother was in jail for a number of
years. When she got out and he went to live with her, she didn't want him and tried to get him put in
foster homes and the like. When he was sent away to a school for boys, he ran away to find her
again. This time he understood that his mother didn't want him when she would not take him

Purge Persuasive Speech
Despite the horrible ideas of what a purge is, the world should have one. There have been two
movies made about purges, so it must be a good idea to have one for ourselves. The benefits of
having a purge are, it is a stress reliever, controls the population count, and for a few hours you
could be the most powerful person. Purging is a great concept that everyone should be open to. Have
you ever wanted to get rid of all of your stress? Well having a purge would help you do exactly that.
The thrill of killing someone makes you forget everything entirely and just focus on the person you
are killing. Maybe there are certain people who make you stressed, kill them and your stress is gone
forever. Now the purge is only for a few hours so if you have multiple people who cause you to have
stress, move very quickly. (appeal to authority) The earth has entirely too many humans inhabiting
it. Purging would help resolve this issue. There are 7 billion on this planet and roughly 320 million
in the United States, so if we as a country had a purge and everyone killed at least one human then
the population would decrease drastically. The world is very much over ... Show more content on

To be Donald Trump or Harry Styles just for one day. Having all of the fame and power that your
little heart could dream of. Well this thought has crossed my mind frequently and purging would
help me accomplish this goal. I wouldn't want to be Harry Styles but I would like to be a powerful
as him. I am quite certain that I am not alone in this thought. Even though the purge is notorious for
killing, I would by no means kill Harry Styles, I would just take his identity since all crime is legal.
Then when purging hours are over I would go back to my daily life which includes, sitting on my
couch and loathing in my own self pity. Knowing that I could be this powerful would be the greatest
achievement of my life, even though it is for a few hours.

Police are labeling the deaths of the missing California hikers as a "murder and suicide," but others
say murder is a distorted characterization of Orbeso and Nguyen's deaths. Evidence from the scene
shows that the hikers tried desperately to sustain life despite not having viable nourishment. The
sheriff's department released a statement surrounding the death of the pair.
Investigators say the couple was found dead underneath the canopy of a tree and were locked in an

The significance of the vivid image as a vivid memory in the story means the audience can take part
in Paul's journey. So that they can empathize with him and his experiences, through distinctively

display distintivitvely visual. The impressive use of camera angles and camera shots both
encompass the distinctively visual element. Camera angles are used to emphasise the characters
view on certain scenes, for instance, when Edwards the main character is staring at Kim, a young
girl who lives in the town. A eye level shot is used, to emphasise the emotions that Edward is feeling
towards Kim, it also shows the deep scars that are on Edwards face, a sign of both pain and torment
both from earlier on in his life but also towards Kim's boyfriend, as deep down he knows things
about her boyfriend that she doesn't, deep down like his scars. The composer also uses camera shots
to give the audience understanding of the setting. The use of long shot on the town which shows a
fair amount of landscape is used to contrast between Edward's mansion on the hill, being all dark
and scary looking, but yet a town at the foot of the hill which is colourful, vibrant and peaceful
looking. The composer used this shot, to show how such differences can be put aside each other, but

Literary Analysis Of In The Lake Of The Woods
The Monster Inside the Man. No matter how well people think they are at keeping secrets, the truth
will always come out. In the book In the Lake of the Woods by Tim O'Brien with John Wade is an
ambitious man who, since childhood, has been seeking acceptance and appreciation from others.
Many tragic events from his life are what shaped him and what led him to great heights to achieve
this. Until he loses his wife Kathy is when he realizes that the only acceptance and appreciation that
he needed was from her. O'Brien's creation of John's character demonstrates the way the revelation
of an abhorrent secret can make one a monster in the eyes of many despite attempts to prove
otherwise. As a child, John Wade lived with his mother and father. His father was a charming and
outgoing man. He was the kind of person people liked to be around. "I wish he was my father",
(O'Brien 67) a kid from John's class said once. However, people did not know John's father the way
he did. Mr. Wade was an alcoholic, and all little John wanted from him was his rarely shown
affection. During his childhood John was "husky" and very interested in magic. His father
constantly teased him about it, which affected John's self–esteem. When Mr. Wade died, John's wish
for his father to be more affectionate to him was buried in the same grave. In consequence, John
developed an obsession with magic that helped him cope with the grief that overcame him. It gave
him a sense of control over the uncontrollable. He

Description Of Aquila Constellation
AQUILA Constellation written by Chance Gearhart for AST 102, Fall 2017
Introduction:
Aquila is a constellation, not an asterism. A constellation is a group of stars forming a recognizable
pattern that is traditionally named after its apparent form or identified with a mythological figure.
Aquila is located in the northern sky close to the celestial equator. In Latin, Aquila means "the
eagle."
The purpose of this assignment is for students to learn how to recognize the Aquila constellation in
the night sky and learn about the stars and mythology behind it.
Description of Aquila:
The Aquila constellation is usually described as the eagle. The stars in this constellation form an
arrow in the sky. It looks similar to a bird with two large triangles spreading out on both sides and a
small tail from the back. Aquila is home to Altair, which is the brightest star in its constellation but
also the twelfth brightest star in the night sky. There is a picture of Aquila in the night sky in the
attachment to this paper.
How to locate Aquila:
The Aquila constellation is best seen in the northern summer due to its location along the Milky
Way. To locate Aquila it is best to first locate Altair in the Summer Triangle asterism. The Summer
Triangle is made out of three stars: Vega, Altair, and Deneb. Altair should be relatively easy to find
because it is a first magnitude star. It will be the second brightest star in the Summer Triangle. After
finding Altair, you should look for the

Cinematic Techniques In Tim Burton Films
In Tim Burton films and shorts he uses cinematic techniques such as lighting, music/sound, and
editing to his advantage to portray and emphasize the atmosphere of specific scenes in his movies.
Edward Scissorhands, Nightmare Before Christmas, and Charlie and the Chocolate Factory (Burton
edition) all facilitate these methods distinctively. These techniques influence and the manipulate the
audience's view on the film. If the music/sound is cheerful in the beginning the audience will most
likely perceive and predict that the whole movie will be jubilant. Concerning lighting, If a scene has
faint, shadowy illumination the scene will most likely be identified as glum or sullen. The opposite
of this would supply the scene with bright, colorful ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
For instance in "The Nightmare Before Christmas" there is a fine example of music/ sound affecting
the mood when comparing the two towns (Christmas and Halloween). Both of the towns music
represents the characters and the ideals that each town is set on. In Halloween town the music is
dark, mysterious and contains snake charmer melodies showing that it is based on being scary and
mysterious just like Halloween. The opposite of this is in Christmas town where the neighborhoods
are filled with cheerful, upbeat, repetitive music which convey the happiness of Christmas and the
townspeople in general. Music/Sound also has a major influence in "Edward Scissorhands". For
instance in the segment of the movie where Edward has a flashback and the invention room is being
showed you can hear the rhythmic thump to the machinery making cookies, this sound conveys to
the audience a mysteriousness of the factory and the robots and questions what this has to do with
Edward. In addition to this there is also a scene when Kim goes outside to see what Edward is doing
and encounters him making snow from ice sculpture. She has never seen snow so when this
interaction happens there is a melodic, angel music being placed with this scene. However when she
ventures to close to Edward he accidentally slice her face

Analysis Of Foxy 's U.s. Expansion Essay
Our report examined Foxy's U.S. expansion, which is occurring due to oversaturation in Canada,
and whether it should be executed by use of a trade show distribution strategy with high fixed costs,
or a sales representative distribution strategy with low fixed costs.
With trade shows, the two founders will be able to show their own energy and passion for their
work, while networking with relevant American industry leaders. However, they would be
competing for attention with thousands of other booths, making it essential to capture the attention
of retailers. Furthermore, the time commitment to trade shows could dilute the attention they pay to
their Canadian Foxy brand. Sales representatives would have an easier time entering the market
which could lead to quicker profits. While it would initially be less of a time commitment to hire
sales representatives, it would remain an ongoing commitment to monitor the representatives and
find new representatives if necessary. The high fixed cost nature of trade shows will make it more
difficult for Foxy to break even. However, this will ensure a higher contribution margin which could
leads to larger profits after breaking even. This, combatted with a wider variation of potential orders,
leads to an unpredictable operating income that could easily exceed Foxy's goals or miss it by a lot.
This strategy would involve a higher operating leverage, which would enable Foxy to see a larger
increase in profit as sales increase. Conversely, the

audiences perceive Iranian women. Satrapi endeavors to display the intersection of the lives of some
Westerners with her life as an Iranian, who spent some time in the West. Satrapi, dissatisfied with
representations she saw of Iranian women in France, decided to challenge them. In her words,
"From the time I came to France in 1994, I was always telling stories about life in Iran to my
friends. We'd see pieces about Iran on television, but they didn't represent my experience at all. I had
to keep saying, 'No, it's not like that there.' I've been justifying why it isn't negative to be an Iranian
for almost twenty years. How strange when it isn't ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The third space to which Miller refers, that of the working, psychic, and social space of the author,
is the one in which Satrapi chooses to engage her readers.
Utilizing nego–feminism, questioning subordination and preexisting understandings of culture, and
the stark depictions of a graphic novel, Satrapi makes a compelling case in humanizing Iranian
women like her. In this way, Satrapi reclaims the space of her identity and how it is represented and
the ethics of doing so, and alters it in order to provide a more representative picture of her life in
Iran. Satrapi tells her story with images of privileged characters whose politics, financial situation,
and values well match those of liberal Westerners. Further, she demonstrates her autonomy,
independent of the regime, in which she also is able to demonstrate her passion for spirituality and
nationalism. She begins her story from a child's perspective in order to alter preexisting perceptions
about Iranian women overall proving her strong love for her family in a way that echoes American
values.
Satrapi is a self–proclaimed pacifist who wishes more children could study abroad, arguing that
having experienced that; you cannot hate what you know (Satrapi, "Why I Wrote Persepolis" 11).
Satrapi was able to pursue a study abroad experience, but

Kanye West Analysis
The mural of Kanye West kissing Kanye West has been painted over by the artist who created it,
Scott Marsh. According to The Guardian, April 11, 2016, reported that the mural has been destroyed.
Scott Marsh painted a 20–foot mural on the wall of Zigi's Wine and Cheese Bar, of Kanye West
passionately kissing himself in the creative district Teggs Lane, Chippendale in Sydney. Originally,
the picture was of Kanye West kissing his wife Kim Kardashian West at the Grammy's in 2015. That
picture was Photoshopped by Buzzfeed and they replaced Kim with a picture of the famous rapper,
but they left Kim's fabulous dress on Kanye. However, Kanye West and his management were not
happy when they saw the mural and they were even more furious when the picture went viral.
According to an interview Scott had with Life Without Andy, a representative from Kanye contacted
him and offered him a five amount to destroy that mural. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

Scott said he "asked for six figures, a lifetime supply of Yeezy Boosts," and he boldly tacked on that
he would like Kanye to purchase a life–size print of the artwork. "It's an open invitation to Kanye. If
he buys that print then I'll paint over the mural." It is reported that Scott March made $100,000 by
painting over "Kanye Loves Kanye" and he allegedly sold the print. Whether or not Kanye or his
representatives paid Scott the money to destroy the mural has not been confirmed, but Scott hinted
at the buyer's identity when he wrote, "It's been real Yeezy," which he posted in Instagram showing
the mural being painted over. Scott Marsh told //"I suppose if Kanye really loves Kanye as much as
everyone says he does, Kanye on Kanye action would be right up his alley," Marsh told Daily Mail
Australia. "This work has become a glowing example of the power of social media, the internet, and

Watching Milo Murphy 's Law
This week I began to watch Milo Murphy 's law. As a true Phineas and Ferb fan, I really enjoyed it,
since there are many jokes and easter eggs hidden in Milo Murphy that date back to Phineas and
Ferb. But, just three episodes in, I began to devise a theory. Maybe it 's too early in the show to tell,
but I have a pretty bold theory, and I 'm prepared to back it up.
My theory: Melissa Chase is Candace 's Sister
At first glance, this theory seems impossible. So rather than try to explain my theory all at once, I 'll
explain the answers to different arguments against this theory.
Agrument 0: How do we even know the two shows are in the same universe?
Well on Huffington Post, Dan Povenmire, one of the creators of Phineas and Ferb, has been ... Show

Flynn is her maiden name. She was married to someone with the last name Chase, although she did
not change her last name (which is not uncommon). During her marriage, she had three children,
Candace, Mellissa, and Phineas. Once she got divorced, she remarried to Lawrence Fletcher, who
was the father of Ferb. The reason we never see Mellissa with her family, is that Linda and her first
husband have worked out and agreement to allow Mellissa to visit with her father during the
summer. But if this is true, how come Mellissa 's last name is Chase, and not Flynn? I think she goes
by Chase, because she doesn 't want to be immediately associated with Phineas and Ferb. We 've
already seen throughout the Phineas and Ferb series that Phineas and Ferb are known all throughout
town as the coolest kids ever. I think Melissa uses her former last name as a way to not be
immediately associated as just "Phineas and Ferb 's older sister."
Argument 2: Why would there be any reason to assume that the two are sisters?
Well, if you look at their pictures, you 'll see what I mean.

First of all, they have a very similar red shade of hair. While this doesn 't seem to be very
compelling evidence, have you ever noticed that both Phineas and his mom are readheads too?

Essay on The Ford Pinto Case
Business Case (The Ford Pinto)
There was strong competition for Ford in the American small–car market from Volkswagen and
several Japanese companies in the 1960's. To fight the competition, Ford rushed its newest car the
Pinto into production in much less time than is usually required to develop a car. The regular time to
produce an automobile is 43 months but Ford took 25 months only (Satchi, L., 2005). Although Ford
had access to a new design which would decrease the possibility of the Ford Pinto from exploding,
the company chose not to implement the design, which would have cost $11 per car, even though it
had done an analysis showing that the new design would result in 180 less deaths. The company
defended itself on the grounds that ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Ford did not approach the question of redesigning the gas tank to make the car safer versus waiting
another year allowing the foreign market to dominate subcompact vehicles. Their goal was only to
maximize profits. They did not into account the interests of their share holders and when they did
come into consideration, they were analyzed against profits. One has nothing to do with the other.
Their goal should not have been a race to make the most affordable subcompact car. Their focus
should have been to make a subcompact car that was not only most affordable but also the safest
subcompact. They were aware of the dangers associated with the rush production. It would have
made a difference if the $11 savings had been passed on to the customers because they would've
kept their reputation and integrity in tact and possibly gain customers who were not considering the
vehicle. Any rational customer would not have chosen to save $11 to drive a car at the risk of dying.
It is never appropriate to knowingly jeopardize people's lives. That is a criminal act. Their actions
were socially irresponsible, ethically and morally wrong. They did not consider their own reputation
nor did they consider that they represented America in the industry.
As a financial manager at Ford, I am obligated to protect, enhance and promote the profits of the
organization and the decisions I make will reflect my social responsibility. First, I would

Analysis Of `` As A Young Man `` Essay
In the introduction to his grandfather's work, Sean Hemingway writes, "as a young man, I was
impressed by the repeated emphasis in [The Sun Also Rises] on the need to pay the bill–to take care
of one's own affairs–and Jake Barnes' ability to make his way in the world" (xii). It is this emphasis
on paying the bill, on money, that acts as Hemingway's harshest criticism of the lifestyles of
American expatriates in Europe at the time. The extravagance and the excess always comes at a
price. This was a lifestyle that Hemingway himself was familiar with, "Paris would prove to be an
extraordinary training ground for [Ernest]. . . the bohemian lifestyle did not always rest well with
him. In reading this text, one cannot, as the novel's characters have done, ignore the importance of
paying the bill. Finances and class are at the center of the character's relationships and dynamics
with each other. In chapter 7 of the novel, a conversation takes place between Brett and two of her
suitors, Jake and Count Mippipopolous. The count, whose steady disposition in this narrative can
only be matched by Jake himself, gives him a piece of advice. Brett says, "isn't it wonderful . . . we
all have titles. Why haven't you a title, Jake?" and Mippipopolous interjects, "I assure you, sir . . . it
never does a man any good. Most of the time it costs you money" (47). By refuting the value of a
title, Hemingway criticizes the social structure of the old world, the pre–World War I world, and he

Analysis : The Night Sky Planisphere
Summary: For the first part of the lab we measured the right ascension and declination of certain
stars and constellations; we used the star chart like a graph with measurements of time and angles.
Another part of the lab we used a star and planet locator also known as a planisphere to determine
the time and date certain stars and constellations are visible, set, or rise at. Using the planisphere
was quite easy to determine stars and how they correlate to time because it 's pleasant to visualize
and address smaller stars that are not so apparent in the sky to the naked eye.
Questions:
What do your planispheres represent?
Our planispheres are diagrams that depict the date and time a constellation or star will be visible by
it passing through the meridian while facing North to Polaris. The night sky planisphere also depicts
what stars can be seen during any time of the year in specific direction in the sky.
Is it possible to predict a celestial event using planispheres?
Planispheres can only locate stars according to time and position but cannot predict celestial events
like eclipses or asteroids.
What is right ascension?
Right ascension is a measurement of hours and minutes in eastward motion on the celestial equator.
What is declination?
Declination is the opposite of ascension, meaning it 's a horizontal measurement. It is the
measurement of how far the sun is from the celestial equator in degrees from 0 to 90.

Film Review : ' Royale With Cheese '

Prof. Sarah Markgraf
Intro to Cinema
5 December 2016 Royale with Cheese
Pulp Fiction by Quinton Tarantino falls into the genre of a Gangster film but has elements of other
genres as well like Film Noir and Black Comedy. Pulp Fiction has a balance of drama and comedy
along with hard to watch scenes like rape, violence, gore and heavy drug use. Tarantino's style of
movie making help make Pulp Fiction the classic it is today. The mise–en–scene, cinematography
and other elements of movie, including sound effects and round characters leave us intrigued as well
as content with the story structure as well as its ending.
The storyline jumps from one storyline to the next and presented in nonchronological order.
Tarantino gives us bits and pieces of one story then jumps to another. This style of narrative is
unusual. Ultimately, the whole story comes full circle. The opening scene ends where the scene
began. We see the conclusion of the robbery and how it connects to the film.
In one of the first scenes with Vincent Vega and Jules Winnfield, we see the pair going to collect
money for their boss Marcellus. When Jules and Vincent go to the trunk to get their guns, we see
them at a low angle. Props and dialog indicates the authority and danger of the two men. We now
know they are gangsters.

the wealthy market. This new show runs alongside The Big 5 and will focus on interior fit–out
products. That means it will cover everything from bathrooms and kitchens, to the individual
products and materials that are necessary to create original interior designs and fit outs.
The other reasons for choosing The Big 5 Kuwait International Fair is that, the country has a large,
modern, exhibition facility readymade to host exhibitions of all sizes, as well as present conference
events. Kuwait 's economy too has a significant influence. The country has the highest budget
surplus as a percentage of GDP of any Gulf state – at 25 percent – and this budget is earmarked for
spending on housing, infrastructure and healthcare. This creates huge opportunities for exhibitions
and conferences that address these subjects (Mellor, 2015).
But our experience is telling us there is a huge demand and enthusiasm from local businesses.

Deborah is rather opposite in that she is completely selfless. She devotes herself to the gospel and
she has visions that lead her to the Union Gospel Mission. Her prophecies conclude that they will
meet a man who she sees in her dreams; a man that she believes will change the city. A few weeks
later a man screams that he will kill whoever stole his shoes. Deborah is elated, for that was the man
of whom she had dreamed. That man's name is Denver Moore. Deborah suggested that Ron become

directions. Obligatorily, Ron tries to reach out to this man who seems to be adverse to him.
However, things slowly progress and when Deborah struggles with her health, the two men's
relationship takes a shocking twist. Deborah's troubled time brings the men to realize that they are

Persepolis Film Analysis
The Complete Persepolis: Translating Literature to Film
Marjane Satrapi's The Complete Persepolis is a coming of age memoir depicted in graphic novel
form. Satrapi illustrates her life as a young girl growing into an adult during and after the Islamic
Revolution in Iran with very little narration and simplistic dialogue. It is interesting to see how so
little can be said, yet, so much can be conveyed. In comparison, the film representation of the novel
uses a separate medium to depict the same story in a similar fashion. This is done in an effective
manner, however, the necessity of this additional form of storytelling is arguable. The comparative
analysis' focus will be on graphic representation, the use of sound as an additional enhancing tool
and finally, the key thematic and historical portrayal of novel events within the film.
Firstly, the graphic style used in the novel was maintained in the creation of the film as Marjane
Satrapi was the artist for both. Furthermore, she co–wrote the screenplay for the animated film. Her
prominent role in the production for both allowed her signature style to link the two. In the novel,
the lack of colour is highly noticeable upon reading and analyzing each image. In fact, the style
plays an unpredictably great role in depicting themes and evoking emotions. For instance, the colour
black is used predominantly as an indicator of darker themes within the novel, it becomes noticeable
within the second chapter entitled "The Bicycle" in

Analysis Of The Film, Edward Scissorhands, Directed By Tim...
My theme "Outsiders in society – how appearances can be deceiving" I think is very important to
the film Edward Scissorhands; directed by Tim Burton, as the theme is repeated throughout the film.
My theme has a general importance because its shows the other side of society that we don't get to
see or notice too often. The group of individuals on the other side constantly shows the challenges
they face, and the different ways of living are often ignored because they don't fit into the current
society. This brings up a strong contrast and compare between what society defines as normal and
what is abnormal. My theme tells us that their appearances are often deceiving and we should learn
to to give them a chance. This means you are also more ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Edward (the outsider) is introduced into the bright society below and I noted he is readily accepted
by most as they got to know him more. Edward I thought also became happier compared to his sad
face in the beginning and more confident in himself and others as he was recognised by the
suburban society. However the betrayal of robbing a house by Edward later in the film meant he was
framed, forced to leave and return to the place where he came from. I thought this was cruel and
inhuman as Jim, who told Edward to break into the house was using him as he could open any house
with his scissors. He had no knowledge of what he was doing and was unfortunately framed and
Edward being all the more vulnerable because of his appearance. I thought Carol (a member of the
suburb) makes a strong connection to Edward's appearance by talking on the phone to the other
suburb neighbours "Joyce, I just saw this strange guy driving with Peg... I didn't get a good look at
him, he looked kind of pale." I felt quite curious in the way that Carol felt to see this new character
in the suburb and shared this same feeling with many others in the film. Edward was very welcomed
by Peg (who found Edward) and so, he meet the rest of the people in the suburb and was accepted to
be more involved in their society. This reminded me of the text: Perks of being a Wallflower, where

"Contact" with life itself beyond just our universe. The most famous quote that Sagan tells the story
of this movie is that there is "billions and billions of stars up there". The fascinating science fiction

Steve Starkey. Dr.Ellie Arroway played by Jodie Foster rushes to translate a message that they think
could be coming from the Vega star system. When contact at first happens, Dr.Ellie Arroway
communicates with the constricting National Security Advisor Kitz who is played by James Woods.
After this unravels, they go in to see the possible problems with occurrence of this event. An out
breaking message is discovered in the signal, but the question is will Arroway be the only one to be
able to solve it or will there be more involved to help including theory's and arguments? Science
versus religion is one of the main topics and many topics of this movie which I can agree on as I
watched this thriller. Ellie doesn't believe in god and doesn't have a set religion and Palmer does so
they clash personalities a lot throughout Contact. I took interest in one character while watching
Contact.

Chapter 12 Assessing International Markets
Chapter 12–Assessing International Markets 4. Do a country's imports completely measure the
market potential for a product? Why or why not? A country's imports only partially measure the
market potential for a product. A product might be imported with the intention to sell at stores like
Target Stores, but because of various reasons, the product may not have done well in those markets
and ended up in liquidation and sold at a Dollar Store. Reasons such as poor marketing efforts, lack
of foreign exchange may have made it difficult to initiate a roll–out of the product, the expense of
transportation of the product as well as duties and the inevitable markups that imports incur (304).
There are other variables that can affect reports of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Sickest Cult Murderer: Charles Manson
Charles Manson is one of the sickest cult murderer in the United States. He was often known to
rebel since he was younger, as said by Paul Watkins. By the age of thirty–two he had been in and out
of reformatories and jails plenty of times. It started off as burglaries for him to pay for a place to
stay, then it started advancing according to Susan Atkins. When he went to the juvenile detention
center he escaped after just one day. This was only the start of his adventures.
He was later recaptured and sent to another place, which he escaped five days after his arrival. This
was done with a partner in crime whom he had committed many burglaries with. This got him
caught once again and started the chain of even more burglaries and escaping says Vincent Bugliosi.
He never had anyone to actually care for him so it didn't affect many people. The only people he
was hurting at this time were his burglary victims, which he sometimes went to armed ... Show more

Although, he knew his way around town and knew a couple people to get favors from. Charlie Gillis
said this included many girls who posted his bail and claimed they were in love with him to get him
out of trouble. The court would believe it and next thing you know, he is out and free again causing
nothing but trouble. But he wasn't killing anybody, so what was the harm?
Perhaps it was the times he got away for things and got addicted to the adrenaline rush. This started
his own little rebellion of creating a cult. As he built his cult full of more women than men, he
started to plot claimed Charlie Gillis. He had various insane predictions, but only few did he follow
through with. For example, he was convinced that a huge war was going to break out between black
and white people, while his "family" would wait it out underground and rise when it was over. This
way he could take over control of everything and be in charge stated Charlie

The Boy 's Head Snapped
"Vincent?" He asked, catching the boy's attention.
The boy's head snapped to look at the man. The kidnapper had to admit, the boy looked hilarious.
His already round cheeked full of food, some of which was hanging out of his mouth. Vince was
mid scoop of his meal and his eyes were wide. The entire look was a perfect mixture of a deer in
headlights and a chipmunk stuffing their face. McCreeps didn't hold back a chuckle," Would you
like me to grab you something to drink, my boy?"
Hurriedly, the boy nodded and with a mouth full of food," Hesh pleshe!"
The smile never left the man's face as he got up from his seat to grab some juice for the little boy.
Vince had a perfect view of the fridge, and watched as the man got up. He slowly chewed on his
food, mostly because there was just so much in his mouth he couldn't. Finally he was able to
swallow right as the man opened the fridge. Almost instantly the boy wanted to upchuck his
breakfast. A head, with eyes cut out and hair shaved off, sat perched on the fridge's top counter. With
or without eyes, it didn't matter. That head was staring at him.
McCreeps turned back around, juice carton in hand. Upon seeing the boy's terrified face, he turned
back to see what he was staring at," Oh this? Like I said, my boy, the woman certainly did provide a
lot for Adande. Sure, it just made it harder to cook her up, but on the bright side there are tons of
leftovers!"
Vince felt as if the word came crashing down on

Case Study Of Charles Manson Essay

  • 1. Case Study of Charles Manson Essay Charles Manson is notoriously connected to the brutal border of Sharon Tate and other Hollywood residents. Born Charles Milles Maddox to sixteen year old Kathleen Maddox, Charles was born into mayhem. Kathleen was an alcoholic and a prostitute; she was not very accepting of her son and showed him no love. Kathleen married William Mason and quickly that marriage dissolved. Fighting for his mother's attention Charles left his home and lived on the streets. Manson began to do petty crime to get by. Charles Manson spent about half of his life in prison; he was noted for being a model prisoner. In 1955 Charles got married to a seventeen year old and moved to California. She became pregnant and soon after Manson began his life of crime, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Finally we look at the sociocultural perspective that focuses on the relationship between social behavior and culture. The social behavior that he exhibited while moving between relationships and imprisonment was magnified when The Beatles came out with Helter Skelter. The two perspectives that seem to best explain the life of Charles Manson are sociocultural and behavioral. The behavioral perspective represents learned behaviors. At an early age Manson was around drugs, drinking, and prostitution. Naturally Manson learned that these things were ok. His mother was a prostitute that wanted nothing to do with her son; she also had a drug problem. Manson grew up in and out of prison and developed a drug and alcohol problem. Manson could not have a functioning relationship, his first wife left him due to him being in and out of jail. Manson second wife was a prostitute and divorced Manson after he was arrested for pimping, stealing, and conning. After being released from prison Manson headed to San Francisco where he played guitar. Manson began to develop followers. Manson developed a need for followers, he and his followers moved to a ranch and soon it became a cult compound for "the family." The consequences of Manson's actions were reinforced each time he was thrown into prison but let right back out, or each time he was allowed probation. He was able to commit the crimes knowing he would just be back in jail and shortly ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 2. Charles Manson Research Paper Charles Manson believed that he was the new Messiah and that after a "nuclear attack" he and his followers would be saved by hiding in a secret world under the desert. His prophetic visions included a belief that the race war would result in a black victory, and Manson along with his Family members would have to mentor the black community, as they would lack experience to run the planet. As Manson and the Family were to be the beneficiaries of the race war, he told his followers that they had to help initiate it. On August 9, 1969, at Roman Polanski's Beverly Hills home at 10050 Cielo Drive. Manson Family members chose–Charles "Tex" Watson, Susan Atkins, Patricia Krenwinkel and Linda Kasabian–to carry out the murders. Kasabian acted as the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Then, the intruders entered the house and viciously executed, actress Sharon Tate; writer Wojciech Frykowski, coffee bean heiress Abigail Folger; and celebrity hairstylist Jay Sebring. On the August 10, 1969, Manson took Family members Watson, Krenwinkel and Leslie Van Houten to the address of wealthy supermarket executive Leno LaBianca and his wife, Rosemary, and the couple was murdered in the same brutal fashion. Manson and his Family were arrested not on suspicion of the murders but simply on the belief that they had vandalized a portion of the Death Valley National Park while they were hiding out in the Mojave Desert. The confessions of Susan Atkins, while held in detention during an unrelated incident led detectives to realize that Manson and his followers were involved in the Tate/LaBianca killings. The trial began on November 18, and ended on January 25, 1971, it was a very bizarre and arduous process as many witnesses and jurors were intimidated by Manson, as well as outbursts by Manson and his female accomplices.. Manson, Atkins, Van Houten, and Krenwinkel, were convicted of first–degree murder, Charles "Tex" Watson was tried separately and also found guilty of first degree ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. The Black, And Curly Dark, matted hair spiraled from his head into several gelled angles, almost hiding his closed eyes. His lashes were an unnatural black, and curly, but not quite feminine. A small stubble showed that he was in need of a shave. His skin was a soft mocha color while his cloths blared in a difficult contrast. He was obviously in a struggle when it all happened, but his face seemed unharmed. The cuffs of his collared shirt were ripped off, revealing scars and bruises. He couldn't have been any older than a high school student. Kile felt slightly intimidated by his looks. No more being the most handsome. Wait, that was stupid! He is kidnapped, this kid is kidnapped, now this guy! And what does he do? Worry that he isn't the pretty boy that he had clung on to for most of his life. Now he just felt bad. Kile's almost illuminating eyes watched Vincent as he too, was fairly curious of this new kidnap–ie. If that was even a "thing". The one responsible for all this kidnapping stood back and watched them with crossed arms and his back against a near by wall. His new special was certainly a different one. He found him most intriguing. Obviously the young man had Latino origins of sort, but he didn't sound it. When he lashed out, the kidnapper couldn't help but to be reminded of his father. A thick, low, and almost always angry Irish accent. How much he hated that man before made it all slightly funny to the man, that now that man could be even the slightest ... • 4. Vacation About Vacation Have you ever been to Nevada, or Utah? I've been and you won't believe what I did! We went to Las Vegas, Zion Canyon National Park. Then we went to Bryce Canyon, then we went back to Las Vegas for the last three days that would soon end our vacation. Sunday was my parent's anniversary and they decided to go on a vacation. Monday mom and I drove up to Kansas City to meet Matt and eat lunch. Tuesday, we had to wake up at 3:30 to get ready and board the Spirit Airline. The flight was 2 hours and 41 minutes. During the flight, we saw mountains, valleys, and lakes. When we arrived in Las Vegas, we went to spend our day at Red Rock Canyon. We went to the visitor center, read about scorpions, mice, and tarantulas. Then we went outside to learn about the Canyon and met a tortoise named Louise. We walked several trails, the Ice Box Trail, Red Rock Wash Overlook. We took several more trails that were easy or moderate. We drove to Zion Canyon to spend a couple of days there. On our way, we went through a tunnel, that went into a mountain. It was amazing, every minute or so there would be a little window in the rock, where the light came in the tunnel. We took pictures of the sunrise on the rocks. We stayed at the Quality Inn Montclair Hotel. The Springdale shuttles took us to the visitor center, where we waited to board the Park shuttle buses. We stopped at stop number nine, Temple of Sinawava, and walked the Riverside Walk, which was paved and ended where the Narrows began. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 5. The, The Inner World Of The Outcast Essay 1: Fantastical Realities in the works of Tim Burton "I get so tired of people saying, 'Oh, you only make fantasy films and this and that', I'm like 'Well no, fantasy is reality', that's what Lewis Carroll showed in his work," spoke animator, writer, producer, and director Tim Burton in regards to the themes of depression, isolation, and fear within his collection of work. Influenced by Gothic fiction and the art and film movements of Expressionism, Surrealism, and Noir, Burton crafts the inner world of the outcast and explores the ideas of Jungian and Freudian psychoanalysis in his films, particularly in Vincent (1982), Beetlejuice (1988), and Edward Scissorhands (1990). This paper will explore Burton's aesthetics of chiaroscuro lighting, color symbolism, and composition to recreate the realism of human emotions through the eyes of a misunderstood character's solitude in a highly fantastical world. Burton breaks conventions of narrative Hollywood cinema and focuses less on the script, but largely on the psyche of the character and the visual outer world that portrays their inner anxieties. Although, Burton's films are directly influenced by the work of Fritz Lang, F.W. Murnau, Robert Wiene, and Salvador Dali, he creates his own auteur style by mapping out the psychological journey of his characters through symbolic hand–drawn concept and costume designs that mirrors his own struggles of displacement throughout his life. • 6. Charles Manson Research Paper When asked who he was, Charles Manson responded, "I'm nobody. I'm a tramp, a bum, a hobo. I'm a boxcar and a jug of wine, and a straight razor if you get too close to me" (as said in parole hearing 1989) In the year 1969, the whole United States population was shaken by the cold blooded Tate murders. The people behind these murders would become known as The Manson Family. The Manson Family was a hippie cult led by a man named Charles Manson. "I wish he was my father", (O'Brien 67) a kid from John's class said once. However, people did not know John's father the way he did. Mr. Wade was an alcoholic, and all little John wanted from him was his rarely shown affection. During his childhood John was "husky" and very interested in magic. His father constantly teased him about it, which affected John's self–esteem. When Mr. Wade died, John's wish for his father to be more affectionate to him was buried in the same grave. Expansion Essay Our report examined Foxy's U.S. expansion, which is occurring due to oversaturation in Canada, and whether it should be executed by use of a trade show distribution strategy with high fixed costs, or a sales representative distribution strategy with low fixed costs. With trade shows, the two founders will be able to show their own energy and passion for their work, while networking with relevant American industry leaders. However, they would be competing for attention with thousands of other booths, making it essential to capture the attention of retailers. Furthermore, the time commitment to trade shows could dilute the attention they pay to their Canadian Foxy brand. Sales representatives would have an easier time entering the market which could lead to quicker profits. While it would initially be less of a time commitment to hire sales representatives, it would remain an ongoing commitment to monitor the representatives and find new representatives if necessary. The high fixed cost nature of trade shows will make it more difficult for Foxy to break even. However, this will ensure a higher contribution margin which could leads to larger profits after breaking even. This, combatted with a wider variation of potential orders, leads to an unpredictable operating income that could easily exceed Foxy's goals or miss it by a lot. This strategy would involve a higher operating leverage, which would enable Foxy to see a larger increase in profit as sales increase. Conversely, the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

It is this emphasis on paying the bill, on money, that acts as Hemingway's harshest criticism of the lifestyles of American expatriates in Europe at the time. The extravagance and the excess always comes at a price. This was a lifestyle that Hemingway himself was familiar with, "Paris would prove to be an extraordinary training ground for [Ernest]. . . the bohemian lifestyle did not always rest well with him. In reading this text, one cannot, as the novel's characters have done, ignore the importance of paying the bill. • 28. Analysis : The Night Sky Planisphere Summary: For the first part of the lab we measured the right ascension and declination of certain stars and constellations; we used the star chart like a graph with measurements of time and angles. Another part of the lab we used a star and planet locator also known as a planisphere to determine the time and date certain stars and constellations are visible, set, or rise at. Using the planisphere was quite easy to determine stars and how they correlate to time because it 's pleasant to visualize and address smaller stars that are not so apparent in the sky to the naked eye. Questions: What do your planispheres represent? Our planispheres are diagrams that depict the date and time a constellation or star will be visible by it passing through the meridian while facing North to Polaris. The night sky planisphere also depicts what stars can be seen during any time of the year in specific direction in the sky. Is it possible to predict a celestial event using planispheres? Planispheres can only locate stars according to time and position but cannot predict celestial events like eclipses or asteroids. What is right ascension? Right ascension is a measurement of hours and minutes in eastward motion on the celestial equator. What is declination? Declination is the opposite of ascension, meaning it 's a horizontal measurement. It is the measurement of how far the sun is from the celestial equator in degrees from 0 to 90. Film Review : ' Royale With Cheese ' Jasvinder Singh Prof. Sarah Markgraf Intro to Cinema 5 December 2016 Royale with Cheese Pulp Fiction by Quinton Tarantino falls into the genre of a Gangster film but has elements of other genres as well like Film Noir and Black Comedy. Pulp Fiction has a balance of drama and comedy along with hard to watch scenes like rape, violence, gore and heavy drug use. Tarantino's style of movie making help make Pulp Fiction the classic it is today. The mise–en–scene, cinematography and other elements of movie, including sound effects and round characters leave us intrigued as well as content with the story structure as well as its ending. The storyline jumps from one storyline to the next and presented in nonchronological order. Tarantino gives us bits and pieces of one story then jumps to another. This style of narrative is unusual. Ultimately, the whole story comes full circle. The opening scene ends where the scene began. We see the conclusion of the robbery and how it connects to the film. In one of the first scenes with Vincent Vega and Jules Winnfield, we see the pair going to collect money for their boss Marcellus. When Jules and Vincent go to the trunk to get their guns, we see them at a low angle. Props and dialog indicates the authority and danger of the two men. We now know they are gangsters. Same Kind of Different as Me: a Modern–Day Slave, an International Art Dealer, and the Unlikely Woman Who Bound Them Together by Ron Hall and Denver Moore with Lynn Vincent is truly a magnificent story about the crossing and changing of two radically dissimilar people. Her prophecies conclude that they will meet a man who she sees in her dreams; a man that she believes will change the city. A few weeks later a man screams that he will kill whoever stole his shoes. • 36. Persepolis Film Analysis The Complete Persepolis: Translating Literature to Film Marjane Satrapi's The Complete Persepolis is a coming of age memoir depicted in graphic novel form. Satrapi illustrates her life as a young girl growing into an adult during and after the Islamic Revolution in Iran with very little narration and simplistic dialogue. It is interesting to see how so little can be said, yet, so much can be conveyed. In comparison, the film representation of the novel uses a separate medium to depict the same story in a similar fashion. This is done in an effective manner, however, the necessity of this additional form of storytelling is arguable. The comparative analysis' focus will be on graphic representation, the use of sound as an additional enhancing tool and finally, the key thematic and historical portrayal of novel events within the film. Firstly, the graphic style used in the novel was maintained in the creation of the film as Marjane Satrapi was the artist for both. Furthermore, she co–wrote the screenplay for the animated film. Her prominent role in the production for both allowed her signature style to link the two. In the novel, the lack of colour is highly noticeable upon reading and analyzing each image. In fact, the style plays an unpredictably great role in depicting themes and evoking emotions. For instance, the colour black is used predominantly as an indicator of darker themes within the novel, it becomes noticeable within the second chapter entitled "The Bicycle" in ... My theme "Outsiders in society – how appearances can be deceiving" I think is very important to the film Edward Scissorhands; directed by Tim Burton, as the theme is repeated throughout the film. My theme has a general importance because its shows the other side of society that we don't get to see or notice too often. The group of individuals on the other side constantly shows the challenges they face, and the different ways of living are often ignored because they don't fit into the current society. This brings up a strong contrast and compare between what society defines as normal and what is abnormal. Edward I thought also became happier compared to his sad face in the beginning and more confident in himself and others as he was recognised by the suburban society. However the betrayal of robbing a house by Edward later in the film meant he was framed, forced to leave and return to the place where he came from. I thought this was cruel and inhuman as Jim, who told Edward to break into the house was using him as he could open any house with his scissors. He had no knowledge of what he was doing and was unfortunately framed and Edward being all the more vulnerable because of his appearance. I thought Carol (a member of the suburb) makes a strong connection to Edward's appearance by talking on the phone to the other suburb neighbours "Joyce, I just saw this strange guy driving with Peg...
