1. ESSAY
I am Ranjith R. I am doing my undergraduate degree in discipline of Bio-medical engineering at
VIT University. My interest in the medical field made me to become a district first rank holder
in my higher secondary education. I selected this Bio-medical engineering department. Because
this department includes medical coding, image processing, information technology and
computer science .In simple sentence this department is the combination of all other departments
such as Computer science engineering , Mechanical engineering, Biotechnology even Civil
engineering too.
Since my child hood I am watching so many movies related to the science. The first science
fiction movie that I have seen is ‘Blubber’ which influenced me a lot to become a scientist in the
effective way of manner. And this causes me to have deep hope in invention. I am still
continuing the same hobby as the aspect of my life especially the science fiction movies. All
these influenced me to think one thing deeply, that is the science is discovered to serve the
people especially Bio-medical science to serve the disabled one . This influenced my heart to
have strong place for it.
No one born as a good one .The education make every person as a unique one and as a good
one. Same thing can be applicable for my life too. From the beginning stages I am not a one
who has all the skills. But in my 10th
standard my ways of thinking start to change to learn the
things which are not known for me. My school wants every student to join the library. So I
joined the library. After joined the library I come to know that I am interested in reading. I read
all the books which are available in that library. This activity increased my reading skills.
Especially I like to read mathematical puzzles. These things really help me to enhance my
mathematical knowledge. I was the member of my school science club which conducts the
science exhibitions. I was influenced by that science exhibition, so next year I made a small
fountain using the water bottle and ball and I showed that thing in the exhibition.
After joining the VIT University I face some difficulties in the communications, because here
everything is in English. But I complete my schooling in Tamil medium. But I adapted to this
situation and I overcome from this barrier. I did the project of ‘calf muscles get strength’ for my
Bio-mechanics subject. My collage teachers influenced me to show an interest in the projects. I
am also done one circuit project to determine the heart –rate using Microcontroller for Integrated
circuits subject. In my first semester I am not even know to operate some of the necessary
software. But my friends and teachers help me to learn those necessary things. And especially
VIT gave a wonderful chance to develop my communications skills. I am sincerely thanking my
teachers and friends who encouraging me to speak in English.
One of the easiest and interesting ways for me to develop my communications skills is watching
English movies with subtitles. By this, I develop my pronunciation skills too. First I not even
2. understand the basic concepts of Bio-medical engineering. But my professors helped me a lot to
gain the all the necessary scopes as well as hopes. And my friends also encouraging as well as
helping me to do the projects. Today I feel very proud to studying the Bio-medical engineering.
My father has the diabetics. He takes medicines daily, but taking medicines daily also not good
for health. I come to know that there are some special devices made for diabetic patients to
administrative the insulin fluid. When I know these things, I start to think about the engineer who
made these devices in such a way to assist the functions like the original organ. Definitely, Bio-
medical engineers are very good and blessed by god to fulfill the needs of the people who are not
able to get their abilities normally. I am very proud to be the one who is blessed by god to give
my life to make them satisfaction.
When the fluid flowing in the tube is seen by the mechanical engineer, he thinks about the fluid
and its dynamics of the flow pattern. When the same thing is seen by the electrical engineer he
thinks about the motor and its circuitry parts which are responsible for that particular flow
pattern. But when the same thing is seen by the Bio-medical engineer he thinks about the blood
vessel and the blood flow pattern in those vessels especially about the motor of the system-heart.
Thus the Bio-medical engineer is created by the god to recreate or reconstruct the life for the one
who lost their abilities. Because the Bio-medical engineer thinks in the specific way to apply is
empathizing skills to provide the assisting function for the disabled people. By this reason I am
influenced and I am proud to studying Bio-medical engineering.
If I am given this scholarship I will use it for my post graduate studies. I always dreaming to
develop or create the proper medicine for AIDS. Because AIDS is the disease needs more care
and affection towards the life and towards the love. If it is possible I will use this scholarship to
achieve my dream too.
