1. MOUSE-RID This case is about an innovative mousetrap. Shobha one day showcased her mousetrap in official trade fair after influencing trough Kolkata trade fair. Her mousetrap won first place out of more than 150 and its achievement was published by two women’s magazine. Shobha took this achievement as an opportunity and started thinking for marketing for materialistic benefits. In regarding this she contacted with Innotrap India Ltd and she was appointed as a general manager to develop and manage it.
2. CONTI……………. This mousetrap had some differentiating features than traditional one and it was also user friendly. Then Shobha got women’s as a target customers because women’s mainly engaged in taking care of their homes. She selected grocery stores, kitchenware stores, supermarket and some departmental store as their distribution channels. The trap had been packaging in a simple cardboard and price was Rs 150 per piece which was 5-6 times more expensive than existing trap.
3. CONTI………… She budgeted Rs 300,000 for print advertisement in different women’s magazines. She was also planning for employing salesperson. First year sales target was 2 million units but at the end of april she could managed to sold only few thousand units. Due to slow start it was question marks for the company from investors point of view and it was only chance in their life cycle to grow.
