SYLLOGISM
INTRODUCTION
In each of the following questions two statements are given
and these statements are followed by two conclusions
numbered (1) and (2). You have to take the given two
statements to be true even if they seem to be at variance
from commonly known facts. Read the conclusions and
then decide which of the given conclusions logically
follows from the two given statements, disregarding
commonly known facts.
Give answer:
• (A) If only (1) conclusion follows
• (B) If only (2) conclusion follows
• (C) If either (1) or (2) follows
• (D) If neither (1) nor (2) follows and
• (E) If both (1) and (2) follow
1.Statements: Some actors are singers. All the
singers are dancers.
Conclusions:
1.Some actors are dancers.
2.No singer is actor.
EXPLANATION
Answer: Option A
2.Statements: Some papers are pens. All the
pencils are pens.
Conclusions:
I. Some pens are pencils.
II. Some pens are papers.
EXPLANATION
Answer: Option E
3. Statements: All the windows are doors. No
door is a wall.
Conclusions:
I. Some windows are walls.
II. No wall is a door.
EXPLANATION
Answer: Option B
4. Statements: Some cows are crows. Some
crows are elephants.
Conclusions:
I. Some cows are elephants.
II. All crows are elephants.
EXPLANATION
Answer: Option D
5.Statements: Some dogs are bats. Some bats
are cats.
Conclusions:

6 – 10. In each of the questions below are given three statements,
followed by conclusions: I, II, III, IV. You have to take the
given statements to be true even if they seem to be at variance
from commonly known facts. Read the conclusions and then

6. Statements: Some Cats are Rats. All bats are
tables. All Rats are Bats.
Conclusion:
I. Some Cats are bats
II. All bats are rats
III. All tables are cats
IV. All bats are cats

Clearly, from the diagram Conclusion I is true.
Answer: option 4
7. Statements: Most CPUs are keyboards. No keyboard
is a Mouse. All Mouses are CPU.
Conclusion:
I. Some keyboards are CPU
II. All CPU’s are Mouse
III. No Mouse is a keyboard
IV. Some Mouse are keyboard
EXPLANATION
Clearly from the diagram, I and III are true.
Answer: option 4
8.Statements: All Carrots are birds. Some
telephones are Carrots. All bedsheets are
telephone.
Conclusion:
I. All bedsheet are birds
II. Some bedsheet are birds
III. Some birds are telephone
IV. All telephone are birds
EXPLANATION
The diagram gives all the possibilities. But only
conclusion III is true.
Answer: option 4
9.Statements: All liquids are solids. Some solids
are gases. All gases are clouds
Conclusion:
