Carpet dynamic loading
1. CARPET DYNAMIC LOADING TEST
PRESENTED BY –
IICT BHADOHI
INDIAN INSTITUTE OF CARPET
TECHNOLOGY
2. PRINCIPLE
The specimen is subjected to a cyclic –loading
treatment in which a weight piece ,with two steel feet
on its underside repeatedly drops freely on the
specimen.
• The specimen is slowly traversed so that vertical
shearing loss produced by the edges of the feet
act on the requisite area of the specimen.
• Then the thickness is measured, before and after
treatment by the procedure specified BS ISO
2094:1999.
3. APPARATUS
1. DYNAMIC LOADING MACHINE
• Weight-piece
• WIDTH:6.5 mm±0.5mm
• LENGTH:51 mm±0.5 mm
• DEPTH:9.5mm±0.5mm
• TOTAL MASS:1279g±13g
• Weight-piece fall freely under gravity from
height of 63.5mm±0.5mm on to the
specimen at 4.3 s±0.3 s.
• STEEL BASE PLATE : 150mm±0.5mm long
and 125 mm± 0.5 mm wide ,to which specimen
is clamped in the sides by the means of two
150mm±0.5mm long and 20mm±0.5 mm steel
bars.
2.THICKNESS TESTER-as specified in ISO
1765,capable of measuring the thickness of the
specimen under pressure of 2.0 kPa.
3.TEST SPECIMEN :
4. Test at least two specimen from each sample
selected according to the direction in ISO 1957.
• Cut each test specimen approximately
125mm*125mm with a side parallel to the warp
and so that they do not contain the same warp or
same weft threads.
• They shall be cut at least 50mm from the
selvedge.
5. PROCEDURE
• Firstly specimen thickness is measured by
thickness tester.
• The specimen is placed in the plate of the
dynamic loading machine and 50 impacts is
applied.
• Then the specimen thickness is measured
immediately.
• Thickness measurements shall be made at
intervals up to 1000 impacts ( after 50,100,200
and 1000 will be found suitable) but more
impacts may be applied.
