3. My Country: Kazakhstan
• KZ is the 9th largest country by size in the world
• It’s a huge place with a very small population:17 million people
• KZ translates as “Land of the Wanderers”
• The people who live in KZ represent more than 120 nationalities

4. My Country KZ: Constitution
• Proud to became a independent country:
 Highest law of Kazakhstan: The Constitution was
approved by referendum on 30 August 1995

Freedom, Equality & Concord
We, the people of Kazakhstan, united by a common historic fate, creating a state on the
indigenous Kazakh land, considering ourselves a peace-loving and civil society,
dedicated to the ideals of freedom, equality and concord (…)
accept this Constitution.

World Heritage List
 The Mausoleum of Khawaja Ahmed Yasawi is an
unfinished mausoleum in the city of Turkestan, in southern
Kazakhstan from 1405
 Tamgaly is a petroglyph site in the Semirechye, KZ
 The petroglyphs are from the Bronze Age, b the Iron Age &
the Medieval
 Saryarka — Steppe and Lakes of Northern KZ is a part of
the Uplands
 The two reserves contain wetlands, which serve as
important stop-over points for migrating birds from Africa,
Europe, and South Asia

Koylek, Saukele & Kupe
1. Koylek: made by folding an integral piece of fabric in half and sewing the sides laterally
from the armpits to the bottom hem
2. Saukele: wide dressing gown with long sleeves while a wedding gown is often a saukele
made of expensive red fabric
3. Kupe: is warm women's clothing typically made of fox fur, and is rarely made from goat
skin

• Beşbarmaq which is our national dish
No time capsule without it!
• Horsemeat is so essential to Kazakh cuisine that the Kazakh athletes
begged the International Olympic Committee to be able to bring it to the
2012 Games in London

Our traditional Food
1. Kuurdak is one of the main and oldest dishes in Central Asian Cuisine. It is is usually
made from mutton
2. Shelpek is a traditional Kazakh flatbread commonly consumed all over the country
3. The main ingredients are: flour, milk, sugar, butter, sour cream, baking soda, salt and
vegetable oil
4. Kazakh Manti is normally ground lamb (sometimes beef or horse meat), spiced with
black pepper, sometimes with the addition of chopped pumpkin or squash

• A time capsule without the literature of Abai Qunanbaiuli & the music
of Kurmangazy Sagyrbayuly would be worthless
Abay was a Kazakh poet, composer and philosopher
He was also a cultural reformer toward European and Russian cultures on the basis
of enlightened Islam
Kurmangazy Sagyrbaev was a Kazakh composer, instrumentalist, & folk artist
His famous Kazakh instrument was the dombra

• One of our biggest heroes is the famous warlord Genghis Khan…
• Kazakh people love him so much that in the past thousands of Kazakhs are
competing to prove their descent

• We are very proud that we can host the world in 2017…
