Human activities over the past 300 years have increased greenhouse gas emissions and contributed to global warming. Burning fossil fuels for energy production, industrial processes, deforestation, and landfill waste have all increased atmospheric concentrations of gases like carbon dioxide and methane. This has raised global surface temperatures by 1 degree Celsius per century since the late 19th century and by 2 degrees Celsius over the past 25 years. Consequences of this warming include rising sea levels from melting Arctic ice and increased prevalence of tropical diseases. Governments and individuals can help address this issue through policies to limit pollution and promote renewable energy, as well as individual actions like recycling and reducing plastic use.
2. Global warming
An average increase in the temperature of the
atmosphere near the earths surface and in the
troposphere, which can contribute to changes in
global climate patterns.
3. Causes
Over the past 300 years, people started emitting
large amounts
of greenhouse gases.
As(CO2` CH4,
N2O…etc.)
4. Causes
Greenhouse gases
They are a group of gases in the atmosphere that absorb and
emit radiant energy within the thermal Infrared range. This
process is the fundamental cause of the green house effect.
Without these gases the earth surface temperature would be
about -18 Celsius rather than the present 15 Celsius.
5. Causes
Human activities
The burning of fossil fuels (Coal/oil) that is produced by power plants to
produce electricity.
Industrial processes E.g. (manufacture of cements ,steel and aluminum)
even their wastes.
Usage of non-renewable sources as a main sources energy E.g. producing
electricity by power plants.
Deforestation: cutting down trees that takes in carbon dioxide.
burying garbage and wastes in landfills, which produces Methane gases.
7. Increasing in greenhouse gases:
Concentration of greenhouse gases in the
atmospheres is highly increasing by human
activities:
Greenhouse gases can last in the
atmosphere for centuries.
Leads to the increasing in the seriousness
of global warming, increasing in the CO2
levels as in the past 50 years.
8. Global surface temperatures
Increased about 1 Celsius per century since the late 19th century.
Increased to 2 Celsius per century over the past 25 years.
9. Sea level rising
Rising at an average rate of 1-2 ,, per
year over the past 100 years as an effect
of the rapidly arctic ice melting .
10. Tropical Diseases
Global warming increases the drought which lessens the supply of clean
drinking water.
Cholera
Global warming increases temperature providing an ideal breeding
environment for mosquitoes.
Yellow fever
Malaria
12. Solutions to control
this issue
Government
Set sharp laws to limit the amount of
pollutants produced by the factories.
Develop the skills of using renewable
fuels, E.g. solar energy, wind energy
carry out energy saving scheme to
reduce the produced pollution by
burning fossil fuels.
Build more plants tor reduce the
formation of CO2 gas.
13. Solutions to control
this issue
People
Reduce the usage of plastic bags, as
burning it produce methane gas CH4.
Recycling the resources, E.g. Plastic
Usage of electric cars.
Reduce the use of sprays and air-
conditioner, which emit chloro-floro-
carbons CFCs.
