Interpretation of X-ray in Disease Process by Dr. Dimpu Gangmei (PG – Department of Radio-diagnosis)
Tools of Trade : • Densities (increased or decreased). • Outline (silhouette). • Lesion. Characterization (to aid differential diagnosis) • Pattern. • Cystic or solid lesion. • Calcification. • Location.
Chest X-ray • Lung field. • Mediastinum. • Thoracic wall (MSK). • Diaphragm.
Pathology
Pneumonia • Severe pneumonia is classically manifested by airspace disease and consolidation (alveoli and bronchioles that are completely filled • Air bronchograms may occur (air in larger bronchi, outlined by consolidated surrounding parenchyma)
