We existed as intelligences before coming to earth. In the pre-mortal life, we progressed as far as possible without physical bodies. God presented a plan for us to gain physical bodies and experience mortality through Jesus Christ. However, Lucifer rebelled and wanted God's power instead. This led to a war in heaven where Lucifer and his followers were cast out. Those who accepted God's plan then came to earth to experience mortality and be tested.

2. In The Beginning
• “Man was also in the beginning with God. Intelligence,
or the light of truth, was not created or made, neither
indeed can be.” (Doctrine and Covenants 93:29)
• We believe that in the beginning we were intelligences
and that Heavenly Father is the father of our spirits.
(Hebrews 12:9 & Romans 8:16)

3. • In Heaven we had progressed as far as we
could. To become like Heavenly Father we
needed to gain a physical body and experience
mortality. (Alma 24:14)
• We were presented with the Plan of Salvation

4. War in Heaven
• We needed a Savior to overcome death and
sin for us. (1 Corinthians 15:22)
• Jesus Christ said that he would go to earth and
die for us. (Abraham 3:27)
• Lucifer said that he would go, but he wanted
all of God’s power. (Doctrine and Covenants
29: 36-37)
• There was a war in heaven. Satan and his
followers were cast out. (Revelation 12: 7-9)

6. Those that accepted God’s plan would need an earth so
that they may gain a body and to be tested. (Alma 34:32)
