12. Energy Low
The X in Cologne was modernized in the late
19th century. It is open to the public seven
times a year, once a month from March to
September.
An unusual feature of the X is the Chandelier
Hall, which was built in order to impress
Prussian Emperor Wilhelm II. Chandeliers were
installed in the ceiling, but unfortunately he was
unable to attend the opening ceremony. In
1990, a single electric chandelier was installed.
The room has hosted jazz and classical music
concerts to audiences of up to 50 people.
What is X?
17. Turn ‘em over
When Rupert Murdoch relaunched The Sun newspaper in
tabloid format in 1969, he began publishing photographs of
clothed glamour models in the newspaper. The first edition
featured that month's Penthouse Pet, Ulla Lindstrom, wearing a
suggestively unbuttoned shirt. The introduction of this feature
was so popular that it quickly attained a moniker, P.
P photographs over the following year were often provocative,
but did not feature nudity. This changed in November 1970
with the introduction of a bare-breasted female model. The
70s would witness a meteoric rise of The Sun, attributed in
part to the increase in circulation of the newspaper as well as
due to P. In fact, the Daily Mirror and Daily Star resorted to P
to compete with The Sun.
P attracted a lot of controversy and eventually, The Sun
scrapped this feature in 2015.
What is P?

• One of the major reasons people know
about Scottsboro, Alabama, is the fact that
Scottsboro has the only ________________
Center in America. It seems like a pretty
normal store, selling over 7000 items a
day, ranging from books, clothes and
essentials to jewellery, electronics and so
on; not much different from what one
would find in retail stores.
• Ludicrous as it seems, this store is a highly
popular domestic tourist attraction.
• What makes this store the only one of its
kind in America? (FITB will suffice).
