5. ADVANTAGES:-
• It is an inexhaustible source of energy.
• Tidal energy is environment friendly energy and doesn’t
produces greenhouse gases.
• As 71% of Earth’s surface is covered by water, there is
scope to generate this energy on large scale.
• Tidal energy doesn’t require any kind of fuel to run.
• The life of tidal energy power plant is very long.
DISADVANTAGES:-
• Cost of construction of tidal power plant is high.
• Tidal energy can be only generated near the coastal regions.
• Intensity of sea waves is unpredictable and there can be
damage to power generation units.
• Influences aquatic life adversely and can disrupt migration of
fish.

• They are renewable.
• They are environment friendly and do not causes any type of
pollution.
• They are easily predictable.
• They didn’t harm or damage the land.
DISADVANTAGES :-
• It harms the inhabitants and have a huge effect on the marine
ecosystem.
• It is mainly a source of disturbance for private and commercial
vessels.
• It has a weak performance in a rough weather.
• It is suitable to certain locations.

11. • OTEC uses clean, renewable, natural resources. Warm
surface seawater and cold water from the ocean depths
replace fossil fuels to produce electricity.
• Suitably designed OTEC plants will produce little or no
carbon dioxide or other polluting chemicals.
• OTEC systems can produce fresh as well as electricity. This is
a significant advantage in island areas where fresh water is
limited.
• There is enough solar energy received and stored in the
warm tropical ocean surface layer to provide most, if not all,
of present human energy needs.
• The use of OTEC as a source of electricity will help reduce the
state’s almost complete dependence on imported fossil fuels.
