Persuasive Speech On 9 / 11
Imagine waking up and seeing the Twin Towers being hit by airplanes and seeing mass
destruction in the city. What would you do? How would you feel? What would you say if you
were the President of the United States at the time that horrendous attack occurred? " One of the
worst days in America's history saw some of the bravest acts in America's history. We'll always
honor the heroes of 9/11. And here at this hallowed place, we pledge that we will never forget their
sacrifice." 9/11 was a very tragic and scary day for a lot of people and many people lost their lives
and some are still dealing with the effects today. It would be very sad seeing the lives taken by this
attack and also scary because you didn't know if there were any other attacks to follow. Due to the
events that happened that day, many things had to be changed in order to prevent another attack
from occurring again.
There were many actions that occurred during the time of the attack that assisted with preventing
an even worse outcome. For example, on flight 93 they used phones on the airplane to
communicate that their plane was hijacked and let everyone else know that their may be other
planes being hijacked. Now they are saying that on airplanes it is unsafe to use cell phones
because it can interfere with the plane's electronics. There was a ban to not have cell phones on
airplanes but they have worked on getting that uplifted because their can be good to having cell
phones ("Tread Carefully on Cell..."). Another example was when passengers on flight 93 decided to
fight against the attackers and took the plane off course and crashed it nowhere near the White House
or the Capital building in Washington and saved them from getting hit by the plane (Kubic).
Once the events of 9/11 happened it was breaking news across the country and all around the world.
All of the flights from Canada and the flights in the US were cancelled due to the attacks. This
restriction was put in place to prevent additional terrorist attacks from happening. Also other events
were cancelled such as sports, concerts, and other public events. This resulted in the creation of The
Department of Homeland Security which now helps protect our borders and helps protect us from

Why Do Hooks Use Persuasive Techniques
I catch fish with hooks! However, I'm talking about a different type of hook in this paper. I often
notice advertisers effectively using various techniques to persuade people to buy their products. I
decided to do some research on which two hooks work the best in advertisements. The two
persuasive techniques which I have found to work the best for advertisers are repetition and
alliteration. First, advertisers use repetition to persuade people to buy their products. Basically,
repetition creates emphasis on a phrase or word. For example, if I went up to my mom and said "
can I go to the movies tonight? Please, please, please, please, please," I'm using repetition to
persuade her to let me go. I have seen repetition in an ad where three Coke bottles are next to each
other all with the word Coke on the front of them. This visual is very effective as it...show more

Rhetorical question is a question that doesn't need an answer. For example, in an ad a woman is
holding a scale that has the words "wanna lose weight?" on it. These words provoke your thoughts
making you realize that you need to lose weight and buy the product. Altogether, rhetorical question
works exceptionally well in this ad. Throughout this paper, we have viewed a few different
persuasive techniques. We even discussed an alternate claim, rhetorical question. Although rhetorical
question may work well in some ads, alliteration and repetition are still much better. As I remind
you that alliteration tied for second in a survey on which hook is easiest to understand, and
repetition tied for first in a survey on which ad is the most effective overall, it is clear that repetition
and alliteration are the two best persuasive techniques that advertisers could possibly

Persuasive Essay On Pro Choice
Pro–choice has been a major topic ever since the women's movements started in the early 1970's, a
question sometimes asked is that, if part of the population are so pro–life and worry about protecting
a fetus, how come when the child is conceived they suddenly bash at you for having that unwanted
child anyways, and that is hypocritical. In this essay, details include would be why people choose to
be pro–choice, NARAL Pro–Choice America, the battle for reproductive justice for women and their
right to make decisions for their body, advocates that are pro–choice, proposals for a pro–choice
government, and Tomi Lahren being fired for stating she was pro–choice.
Of all the legal, ethical, and moral issues we Americans continuously fight for or against, abortion
may very well be the issue that Americans are most passionate about. The abortion issue is in the
forefront of political races. Many people in society today choose to be pro–choice because they want
to support women of their choice and right to have an abortion and that sex education that promotes
abstinence is not effective. According to "Abortions: every Woman's Right" by Smith S., the article
discusses about how women couldn't be equal to men because they don't have the same rights to
reproductive rights of their own even if though they are advanced in the job market or have a higher
education. Even socialist argue that women deserve to have rights over their body without
interference. Part of NARAL's impact to

Persuasive Essay Internships
When I started off as a college student, I always asked people what I could do to increase my
chances of finding a job right after college. Often times, I found that the only advice they would
offer me was to have a couple of internships under my belt. Now, I'll admit I was always entirely
turned off by this idea. I wanted to get advice that would help me sneak my way to the top without
having to do an internship. Mainly because as a broke college student I wanted to find a job where I
would get paid, not a non–paid internship where I would deliver coffee to a snobby boss who was
too cheap to hire an assistant and settled for an "intern" instead. So as you could imagine, hearing
people give me this advice made me roll my eyes. But, fast forward a few months later and here I
am, sitting at my own desk doing a paid internship for a kick ass agency. Surrounded by the biggest
warm–hearted goofballs I've ever had the blessing to know and learn from.
This internship has been the most real experience for me. I don't run out to get coffee, I don't
alphabetically sort number files (crossing my fingers this isn't a real task people have to do if so I'm
so sorry come intern here), or pick up anyone's dry cleaning. They work to push us outside of our
comfort zones and give us as close to a real agency experience as we could possible get. They jump
at every and any opportunity they have to show us how to grow and further develop our skills.
On top of doing what they can to help us

Health Care Persuasive Essay
When it comes to our health, a good healthcare plan is a very important subject for all individuals.
Some even argue that it is a basic right to have one. Bernie Sanders stated, "Healthcare must be
recognized as a right, not a privilege. Every man, woman, and child in our country should be able
to access the health care they need regardless of their income..." ("Issues: Medicare for All").
However, reality tells us a whole different story. America is one of the most developed countries
in the world with some of the best medical care. Yet, how can the people enjoy the benefits when
it is almost unaffordable to most. People are afraid to fall sick just because they are afraid of how
much it would cost. However, sometimes a doctor or hospital visit is unavoidable. In most cases,
it comes at a great price, especially to the middle class and the elderly. Wealthy individuals are
likely to reap the benefits of having an expensive healthcare plan, while the rest may suffer from
the unimaginable cost of treatments, or even worse, live a risky life without insurance. An
effective solution to this problem would be a Universal Healthcare System. This would ensure
that all people have equal and affordable health coverage, centralized healthcare records for all
individuals which will help easy diagnosis by doctors and reduce the intensive labor costs of
medical billing. Moreover, it may boost the economy by freeing business from providing expensive
healthcare benefits to workers. According to World Health Organization, "Universal Health
Coverage means that all people and communities can use the promotive, preventive, curative,
rehabilitative and palliative health services they need, of sufficient quality to be effective, while
also ensuring that the use of these services does not expose the user to financial hardship".
(WHO.int) By doing so, we give the people the opportunity to be equal to the rest of the society.
Since the cost of a healthcare plan is beyond most people's budget in the United States, the average
person spends more money on healthcare insurance than groceries and housing together. This
condition leads many to have no coverage at all. In fact, there are over 45 million uninsured
residents in the U.S. in it

Persuasive Essay About Aliens
For many years, numerous people have pretended aliens are not real, well I am here today to
prove their theory wrong. Hundreds among thousands of people from all over the world have
seen, and even made contact with extraterrestrial life. Will you be next or have you already? They
are horrifying stories that come up often with extraterrestrials. Are they fake or your worst
nightmare? ВЁSightings within 500 feet are subclassified as various types of ВЁclose

sighting back in the 1600s when John Winthrop had unusual writing in his diary about a ВЁgreat
light in the nighttime sky"( Hynek 32.) On September 19, 1976, people in Tehran, Iran saw an
unidentified flying object around twelve am. Systems started to fail when the unidentified flying
object was twenty miles away. Most sightings have been reported in Roswell, New Mexico. In the
year 1947, a balloon was seen crashing into the land of a nearby ranch near Roswell, New Mexico
but theories say otherwise. Multiple accusations have been arguing about it, but, the real mystery, if
it was just a United States Air Force balloon then why did they try to cover it up?
In White Mountains, Arizona 1975 a man, Travis, went to work with his buddies to cut down trees.

Grit Essay Examples
Grit is a predictor of academic, professional, and personal success. Grit can be defined as strength
of character or the ability to overcome failure and continue to work toward success. People with
grit are not always the people with the most natural ability, but their work ethic and ability to
overcome obstacles allows them to achieve success. Grit is a very valuable characteristic in almost
any venture, as it gives someone an advantage in overcoming the inevitable obstacles they will face.
However, grit is much easier adopted when an individual has a growth mindset. The first step to
obtaining grit is to correlate both self–control and self–confidence when trying to reach an objective.
By doing this, one can focus on the task at hand...show more content...
I had no experience as a runner nor did I have the form. This did not phase me however. That year
I promised myself to push through all the six mile runs, sore legs, gnarly blisters, and at times,
lack of oxygen. At every meet and speed workout practice I pushed myself further and further. I
set a goal every time I kicked off from the starting line and never let myself get discouraged when
I failed. By my senior year, I was the fourth fastest runner on varsity. That year our varsity team
won the district meet, which qualified us to run in the 2016 state meet in Oregon. The
transformation over the years were evident. My determination to accomplish my goal of
becoming a faster runner was complete. If I had simply just given up that first day of practice, I
wouldn't have ran along side of the fastest runners in Oregon or have met the multitude of people
that are now my closest friends. Having a goal sets one up for a challenge, whether it being
physically or mentally, goals keep us active and thinking in more ways than one. Still, if someone
has self–control, confidence, and a goal, they are still not complete. Growth mindset is the cone to
an ice cream. It is the foundation of what I think a successful person is. Without it one couldn't use
the characteristics mentioned above in more ways than one. Someone with a growth mindset believe
that their most basic abilities can be developed through dedication and hard work, brains and talent
are just the starting point.

Persuasive Essay For Special Education
How to Advocate
To ensure that all children with disabilities have available to them a free appropriate public
education that emphasizes special education and related services designed to meet their unique
needs and prepare them for further education, employment and independent living, and to ensure that
the rights of children with disabilities and parents of such children are protected....
(IDEA 2004.) The most important section in the Individuals with Disabilities Act (IDEA) is
section 1400, which describes the findings and purpose of the law. Even though the purpose of the
law is to provide services and protect their rights, this law does not automatically guarantee all
children with a disability eligibility for services under the law. There is more than one legal
definition and they can still be very vague and confusing. To be eligible a child must have a
disability that affects educational performance and needs special education and related services. The
child must meet both criteria to be eligible for a free appropriate public education. Free Appropriate
Public Education (FAPE) means special education and related services that are provided at public
expense, meet the state standards, are appropriate, and are provided in conformity with an
Individualized Education Plan (IEP). However, the term "appropriate" education, does not mean the
best education, nor an education that maximizes the child's full potential. It can also differ from one
child to the next, because what

Persuasive Essay On Black Lives Matter
They Matter For decades black Americans have been treated as animals, looked at as if they are
monsters, and killed like bugs. Actions like Police brutality and racism is what caused Black
Lives Matter. The creation of the Black Lives Matter was a response by the black community to
give a voice to black Americans affected by the increase of wrongful deaths due to the law
enforcements and vigilantes across the country. This has been going on for so long that it seems
like we are stuck in the past. For years, even decades black Americans have had to live the struggle
of being equal. Even when things are going good and we think we finally have the same rights,
something happened to change that. It is time to shed a light on the real purpose of Black Lives
Matter and why they are important to today's society. Alicia Garza, Patrisse Cullors, and Opal
Tometi created a movement centered towards black Americans which later turned into Black Live
Matter. Those three leaders came together in 2013 after the Trayvon Martin case that devastated the
black community. Black Live Matter, also known as BLM, became an organization that has a
mission to give power and a voice to violence inflicted on Black communities. So many black
injustices went unnoticed and ignored, but this group will not stand to let that happen again.
Injustice to the black community is what causes so many protests and movements that make the
Black Lives Matter organization stronger than ever. . The BLM

Jack and the rest of the boys are looking around trying to contemplate all that just had happened. A

boys were all shocked that they were even getting saved in the first place. All of the officers were
asking the boys questions but the boys were too stunned to even speak. For weeks they have
dreamed of being saved, of being home, and of their family and finally now it was happening.
Jack should not be arrested for the death of Simon. I feel like his death was everyone's fault. They
all jump on him and attacked him without even checking to see if it was the beast or not. I think
that all of the young boys were accessory to the murder. "The beast struggled forward, broke the
ring, and fell over the steep edge of the rock to stand by the water" (Golding 153). That means the
boys should have been able to easily tell that it was a human not a "beast". Simon was walking on
his feet and I'm guessing that the boys thought it was an animal or creature of some sort so they
should have checked it out before attacking. But the boys had their primal instincts kick in and that
is what made them attack.

Persuasive Essay On Truck Drivers
Truck drivers are essential to this country's economy. Truck driving is one of the only ways that
this country has found to transport most of the goods we produce. There are many flaws in the
other ways we transport goods. As the demand for supply goes up the demand for truck drivers will
go up as well. Driving a tractor– trailer or a semi– trailer is a great career because of the job outlook,
the work environment, and the benefits and compensation.
Driving a truck can be a great way to make a living without a college degree. Truck driving is one to
the most rapid growing occupations. The Commercial Vehicle Training Association states that, "The
truck driver occupation is listed as an occupation with the most growth by the Department of Labor,
Bureau of Labor Statistics. (Commercial Vehicle Training Association)" This is very good for
people who are trying to get into this occupation. This means that anyone that passes all the
requirements is basically guaranteed a job. The Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration says,
"The Administration operates a program to improve safety performance and remove high–risk
carriers from the Nation's highways. (Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration)" Programs like
this exist to help make the roads as safe as possible for everyone. Without these programs there
would be hundreds of careless and unsafe drivers on the road. In closing, many programs have been
setup to keep all other drivers and the company's materials safe.
Truck driving is very demanding because of the long periods spent away from home and the
constant driving for a long time. Also some drivers have to load and unload their cargo. The ATA
states that, "Working as a long–haul truck driver is a major lifestyle choice because these drivers
can be away from home for days or weeks at a time. They spend much of this time alone.
(American Trucking Association)" These truck driver's lives are not easy. They spend most of their
time on the road and alone and most of the time when they reach their destination, they have to
unload what is in the trailer. The NAPFTDS says that, "All graduates must be able to demonstrate
that they meet federal, state, and local standards as required for professional truck

Advantages of Legalizing Marijuana
Marijuana use is on the rise, especially among teenagers and young adults. With the recent laws
passed in eight states about legalizing medical marijuana , many stand divided when it comes to
this never ending debate, but I firmly believe that this miracle working drug should be legalized
throughout the United States. Marijuana is by far the most commonly used illegal drug. Statistics

The main idea behind legalizing drugs is it's medical advantages. Marijuana is said to have many
uses as healing drug. Marijuana being used as medicine has been studied for many years. In many
cultures it is used as medicine and stems back many generations. The first recorded use of marijuana
as medicine was in China. It has been said that in Pen Tsao Ching during the first or second century,
boiled hemp compound was used as an anesthetic for surgical patients. The compound is said to have
many uses including, clearing the blood, cooling temperature, clearing fluxes, undoing rheumatism
and discharging pus from patients. China isn't the only country to use this drug in early times it was
introduced in Southeast Asia in the sixteenth century. Cambodia, Thailand and Vietnam are said to
have current uses of marijuana for medicine. In Cambodia they have an enormous list of uses,
including, treating malaria, reliving asthma, calming the nerves, regulating the heart and treating
paralysis. In Thailand, it's used in folk medicine as well as in the official medical reports. In folk
medicine, people dry the leaves and then boil them to treat migraines and dizzy spells.
Marijuana has survived the passing of time and still helps the sick today. The advanced stages of
treatment for patients with Cancer, AIDS and other diseases often include, terrible nausea, vomiting,

Persuasive Essay On Animal Adoption
Adopt or Buy? Many people buy the pets they want, but there are rarely any human beings that
actually adopt. Let me ask you a simple question. Do you usually buy your pets from a breeder, or
do you actually go out and search for the one to adopt? Many of you will say buy from a breeder,
but that's okay. Let me just list my facts and you think them over. Maybe I can get your opinion to
change. Logos. Facts. Adopting. It means saving one of the more than six million cats, dogs, or
countless other animals who enter U.S. animal shelters EVERY SINGLE YEAR. Adopting is never
buying any type of animal. What's the difference between a pet store and an animal shelter? This is
one of the most asked questions over this topic. And the answer? Profit. Pet stores. Pet stores sell
animals only for the money or profit they can get off that animal. Animal shelters are there to save
lives. Get an animal off the street. Animal shelters take unwanted, stray, or abandoned animals. Now
you may be thinking about an adoption fee. Wouldn't that basically count as buying? Absolutely not.
Shelters use the adoption fee so they can get more positive things for the animals. Food, medicine,
spay/neuter surgery, vaccinations, microchipping, and other important things for your new
companion needs. In other words, your money is going to help animals. Still not convinced adopting
is better? Let's take a look at some examples.
To convince an audience of the author's credibility or character. Ethical appeal; Ethos. "Each
year, 2.7 million adoptable dogs and cats are euthanized in the United States, simply because too
many pets come into shelters and too few people consider adoption when looking for a new pet.
The number of euthanized animals could be changed dramatically if more people adopted pets
instead of buying them." The Humane Society of the United States. Every time you adopt a pet
you're saving it's life. Now i'm not a very good example as I just bought a dog from a breeder a week
ago, but my family has adopted. We had heard of this pitbull mix that was at the Sulphur Springs

Persuasive Speech On Social Media Essay
Purpose: To persuade my audience to minimize their phone usage. Thesis: Stay in the present
moment, don't let yourself believe you're going to forget a memory because you didn't document it
through social media. Claim: Policy Organizational Pattern: Problem–Solution I. Introduction A.
Attention Getter: Four Years of your life is wasted to what's sitting inside all of your pockets
right now; your cellphone. The average person spends roughly 90 minutes a day playing on their
phone, whether it's checking emails, Snapchatting or scrolling through your Twitter feed.
According to The Dailymail.com we unlock our phones at least 110 times per day! We've
become almost dependent on these devices over time, and it needs to stop. We rely on our
phones everyday to wake us up for school and to know the time of day. B. Relevance: We live in a
world of ever changing technology. Products are always getting upgraded every year and everyone
wants the biggest and newest thing on the market. It's hard to not get caught up in all the buzz of
things. We feel almost "naked" without our phones; our attachment to them is overwhelming.
Without them we feel as though we're missing out on what's happening in the world. Our heads
are always down; our thumbs are always swiping up and down on our newsfeed. We're living a life
that is more involved in someone else's social media accounts than our own. C. Credibility: As a

How To Write A Persuasive Essay
Writing essay is one of the things that I used to dislike before. For me, writing an essay was a
difficult and boring thing. However, I change my mind when I was doing the assignment,
"Persuasive Essay". This essay is my first English essay, and it was a quite challenging task for me.
In this assignment , I learned a lot. For example, to use the transition words to connect each
paragraph. Also, to use other writer's words to make my idea be more powerful. Thus, this
assignment improves my writing skills a lot. Before, I didn't know that I have to use the transition
words in an essay. For me, an essay is constituted by many single paragraphs. However, everything
is different when I was doing this assignment, Persuasive Essay. I noticed that every paragraph
should support theme to make an essay stronger. Also, after Ms. Weller marked this assignment, I
learned that using transition words can create a powerful link between my ideas. For example,

readers understand the logic of an essay. Therefore, I' ve learned the writing skill which can make

can make an essay more cogent but also can make readers agree with writer's thinking. Thus, I've

Persuasive Essay On Internet Censorship
Information is one of the most powerful tools in the world, even going so far as to make or break
countries. There is a constant effort to censor information that puts people or countries in a negative
light. This makes the citizens of those countries blind to the truths of the government turning them
into sheep. The people shouldn't be sheep because we need them to shape the future. This bill has
the sole purpose of loosening internet censorship because it eliminates free will, causes people to
have a dangerous amount of patriotism and ultimately makes the internet a more dangerous place
than it is. Censorship of the internet keeps people from important knowledge thereby believing that
everything on the internet is true. A study was conducted to look into a handful of billionaires who
run tech companies in 24 hours and found "more than 137 examples of Silicon Valley companies
brazenly banning users, censoring content and manipulating search results to undermine the
democratization of information on the web." (PR Newswire). The people with money abuse internet
censorship in order to further their own agenda with the support of the greedy. They completely
ignore that the internet is supposed to be a resource for everyone. Internet censorship makes
countries rot because "When you have strict censorship of the internet, young students cannot
receive a full education. Their view of the world is imbalanced. There can be no true discussion
of the issues." (Ai WeiWei). The Futures of countries become full of ignorance to the reality of
the world. The only truly successful internet censorship is China's system and while it is
impressive to maintain it "China employs 2 million to monitor websites" (YaleGlobal Online).
This is an unreasonable amount to employ for any country, while feasible for the US it would cost
us one of the biggest resources in the world. This lack of free will causes citizens to have an
unhealthy amount of patriotism because of the lack of any knowledge of major screw ups as a
country. Citizens show a disturbing amount of patriotism which, while patriotism is good, too much
is not caused by people not knowing the bads of their country. China, again as an example, have
pushed censorship to the

Title of Speech: Mental Health Speaker Role/ Audience: Advocate the importance of addressing
mental health in schools. Thesis: Mental health is one of the largest problems students face on a
daily basis, and in order to best help them, we need to implement serious and frequent discussions
about mental health. ––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––– INTRO: Attention
Getting Device: Every year, about 42.5 million American adults (or 18.2 percent of the total adult
population in the United States) suffers from some mental illness, enduring conditions such as
depression, bipolar disorder or schizophrenia, statistics reveal. (newsweek.com) Purpose/Thesis:
To persuade you all the importance of including mental health awareness in schools. Credibility: I
have dealt with anxiety my entire life. Because I was not aware of what I had for so long and I
did not have any help, I suffered and so did multiple aspects of my academic career. Justification:
"The answer, based on the prevalence of mental illness globally, is stunning: 8 million people die
each year due to mental illness. That is, 8 million deaths could be averted if people with mental
illness were to die at the same rate as the general population." (NIMH) Preview of Main Points:
Today I will show you the dangers of not explicitly discussing mental health in school, what students
will gain from discussing mental health, and inform you what you can do to make this happen.
Transition: First, let us discuss the danger of not including mental health in students' education.
–––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––– BODY: Need: According to nami.org,
approximately 1 in 5 youth aged 13–18 (21.4%) experiences a severe mental disorder at some point
during their life. For children aged 8–15, the estimate is 13%. Research has found that about 90% of
individuals who die by suicide experience a mental illness. Social anxiety affects about 15 million
individuals across America, most cases start around the age of 13. They often suffer anxiety,
difficulty focusing and social challenges. Half of them drop out of high school, in part because many
schools don't manage to meet their needs. (pbs.org) Although mental health illnesses affects so many
kids aged 6–17, a least

How To Write A Hook For A Persuasive Essay

  • 1. Persuasive Speech On 9 / 11 Imagine waking up and seeing the Twin Towers being hit by airplanes and seeing mass destruction in the city. What would you do? How would you feel? What would you say if you were the President of the United States at the time that horrendous attack occurred? " One of the worst days in America's history saw some of the bravest acts in America's history. We'll always honor the heroes of 9/11. And here at this hallowed place, we pledge that we will never forget their sacrifice." 9/11 was a very tragic and scary day for a lot of people and many people lost their lives and some are still dealing with the effects today. It would be very sad seeing the lives taken by this attack and also scary because you didn't know if there were any other attacks to follow. Due to the events that happened that day, many things had to be changed in order to prevent another attack from occurring again. There were many actions that occurred during the time of the attack that assisted with preventing an even worse outcome. For example, on flight 93 they used phones on the airplane to communicate that their plane was hijacked and let everyone else know that their may be other planes being hijacked. Now they are saying that on airplanes it is unsafe to use cell phones because it can interfere with the plane's electronics. There was a ban to not have cell phones on airplanes but they have worked on getting that uplifted because their can be good to having cell phones ("Tread Carefully on Cell..."). Another example was when passengers on flight 93 decided to fight against the attackers and took the plane off course and crashed it nowhere near the White House or the Capital building in Washington and saved them from getting hit by the plane (Kubic). Once the events of 9/11 happened it was breaking news across the country and all around the world. All of the flights from Canada and the flights in the US were cancelled due to the attacks. This restriction was put in place to prevent additional terrorist attacks from happening. Also other events were cancelled such as sports, concerts, and other public events. This resulted in the creation of The Department of Homeland Security which now helps protect our borders and helps protect us from Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 2. Why Do Hooks Use Persuasive Techniques I catch fish with hooks! However, I'm talking about a different type of hook in this paper. I often notice advertisers effectively using various techniques to persuade people to buy their products. I decided to do some research on which two hooks work the best in advertisements. The two persuasive techniques which I have found to work the best for advertisers are repetition and alliteration. First, advertisers use repetition to persuade people to buy their products. Basically, repetition creates emphasis on a phrase or word. For example, if I went up to my mom and said " can I go to the movies tonight? Please, please, please, please, please," I'm using repetition to persuade her to let me go. I have seen repetition in an ad where three Coke bottles are next to each other all with the word Coke on the front of them. This visual is very effective as it...show more content... Rhetorical question is a question that doesn't need an answer. For example, in an ad a woman is holding a scale that has the words "wanna lose weight?" on it. These words provoke your thoughts making you realize that you need to lose weight and buy the product. Altogether, rhetorical question works exceptionally well in this ad. Throughout this paper, we have viewed a few different persuasive techniques. We even discussed an alternate claim, rhetorical question. Although rhetorical question may work well in some ads, alliteration and repetition are still much better. As I remind you that alliteration tied for second in a survey on which hook is easiest to understand, and repetition tied for first in a survey on which ad is the most effective overall, it is clear that repetition and alliteration are the two best persuasive techniques that advertisers could possibly Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 3. Persuasive Essay On Pro Choice Pro–choice has been a major topic ever since the women's movements started in the early 1970's, a question sometimes asked is that, if part of the population are so pro–life and worry about protecting a fetus, how come when the child is conceived they suddenly bash at you for having that unwanted child anyways, and that is hypocritical. In this essay, details include would be why people choose to be pro–choice, NARAL Pro–Choice America, the battle for reproductive justice for women and their right to make decisions for their body, advocates that are pro–choice, proposals for a pro–choice government, and Tomi Lahren being fired for stating she was pro–choice. Of all the legal, ethical, and moral issues we Americans continuously fight for or against, abortion may very well be the issue that Americans are most passionate about. The abortion issue is in the forefront of political races. Many people in society today choose to be pro–choice because they want to support women of their choice and right to have an abortion and that sex education that promotes abstinence is not effective. According to "Abortions: every Woman's Right" by Smith S., the article discusses about how women couldn't be equal to men because they don't have the same rights to reproductive rights of their own even if though they are advanced in the job market or have a higher education. Even socialist argue that women deserve to have rights over their body without interference. Part of NARAL's impact to Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 4. Persuasive Essay Internships When I started off as a college student, I always asked people what I could do to increase my chances of finding a job right after college. Often times, I found that the only advice they would offer me was to have a couple of internships under my belt. Now, I'll admit I was always entirely turned off by this idea. I wanted to get advice that would help me sneak my way to the top without having to do an internship. Mainly because as a broke college student I wanted to find a job where I would get paid, not a non–paid internship where I would deliver coffee to a snobby boss who was too cheap to hire an assistant and settled for an "intern" instead. So as you could imagine, hearing people give me this advice made me roll my eyes. But, fast forward a few months later and here I am, sitting at my own desk doing a paid internship for a kick ass agency. Surrounded by the biggest warm–hearted goofballs I've ever had the blessing to know and learn from. This internship has been the most real experience for me. I don't run out to get coffee, I don't alphabetically sort number files (crossing my fingers this isn't a real task people have to do if so I'm so sorry come intern here), or pick up anyone's dry cleaning. They work to push us outside of our comfort zones and give us as close to a real agency experience as we could possible get. They jump at every and any opportunity they have to show us how to grow and further develop our skills. On top of doing what they can to help us Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 5. Health Care Persuasive Essay When it comes to our health, a good healthcare plan is a very important subject for all individuals. Some even argue that it is a basic right to have one. Bernie Sanders stated, "Healthcare must be recognized as a right, not a privilege. Every man, woman, and child in our country should be able to access the health care they need regardless of their income..." ("Issues: Medicare for All"). However, reality tells us a whole different story. America is one of the most developed countries in the world with some of the best medical care. Yet, how can the people enjoy the benefits when it is almost unaffordable to most. People are afraid to fall sick just because they are afraid of how much it would cost. However, sometimes a doctor or hospital visit is unavoidable. In most cases, it comes at a great price, especially to the middle class and the elderly. Wealthy individuals are likely to reap the benefits of having an expensive healthcare plan, while the rest may suffer from the unimaginable cost of treatments, or even worse, live a risky life without insurance. An effective solution to this problem would be a Universal Healthcare System. This would ensure that all people have equal and affordable health coverage, centralized healthcare records for all individuals which will help easy diagnosis by doctors and reduce the intensive labor costs of medical billing. Moreover, it may boost the economy by freeing business from providing expensive healthcare benefits to workers. According to World Health Organization, "Universal Health Coverage means that all people and communities can use the promotive, preventive, curative, rehabilitative and palliative health services they need, of sufficient quality to be effective, while also ensuring that the use of these services does not expose the user to financial hardship". (WHO.int) By doing so, we give the people the opportunity to be equal to the rest of the society. Since the cost of a healthcare plan is beyond most people's budget in the United States, the average person spends more money on healthcare insurance than groceries and housing together. This condition leads many to have no coverage at all. In fact, there are over 45 million uninsured residents in the U.S. in it Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 6. Persuasive Essay About Aliens For many years, numerous people have pretended aliens are not real, well I am here today to prove their theory wrong. Hundreds among thousands of people from all over the world have seen, and even made contact with extraterrestrial life. Will you be next or have you already? They are horrifying stories that come up often with extraterrestrials. Are they fake or your worst nightmare? ВЁSightings within 500 feet are subclassified as various types of ВЁclose encountersВЁ( Hynek 41.) There have been over 104,947 sightings in a decade. There was a sighting back in the 1600s when John Winthrop had unusual writing in his diary about a ВЁgreat light in the nighttime sky"( Hynek 32.) On September 19, 1976, people in Tehran, Iran saw an unidentified flying object around twelve am. Systems started to fail when the unidentified flying object was twenty miles away. Most sightings have been reported in Roswell, New Mexico. In the year 1947, a balloon was seen crashing into the land of a nearby ranch near Roswell, New Mexico but theories say otherwise. Multiple accusations have been arguing about it, but, the real mystery, if it was just a United States Air Force balloon then why did they try to cover it up? In White Mountains, Arizona 1975 a man, Travis, went to work with his buddies to cut down trees. It was a typical day, he and Dallas fought a little bit and then took a lunch break. When they finished loading all the extra limbs in the back of the truck, they left for home. On their Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 7. Grit Essay Examples Grit is a predictor of academic, professional, and personal success. Grit can be defined as strength of character or the ability to overcome failure and continue to work toward success. People with grit are not always the people with the most natural ability, but their work ethic and ability to overcome obstacles allows them to achieve success. Grit is a very valuable characteristic in almost any venture, as it gives someone an advantage in overcoming the inevitable obstacles they will face. However, grit is much easier adopted when an individual has a growth mindset. The first step to obtaining grit is to correlate both self–control and self–confidence when trying to reach an objective. By doing this, one can focus on the task at hand...show more content... I had no experience as a runner nor did I have the form. This did not phase me however. That year I promised myself to push through all the six mile runs, sore legs, gnarly blisters, and at times, lack of oxygen. At every meet and speed workout practice I pushed myself further and further. I set a goal every time I kicked off from the starting line and never let myself get discouraged when I failed. By my senior year, I was the fourth fastest runner on varsity. That year our varsity team won the district meet, which qualified us to run in the 2016 state meet in Oregon. The transformation over the years were evident. My determination to accomplish my goal of becoming a faster runner was complete. If I had simply just given up that first day of practice, I wouldn't have ran along side of the fastest runners in Oregon or have met the multitude of people that are now my closest friends. Having a goal sets one up for a challenge, whether it being physically or mentally, goals keep us active and thinking in more ways than one. Still, if someone has self–control, confidence, and a goal, they are still not complete. Growth mindset is the cone to an ice cream. It is the foundation of what I think a successful person is. Without it one couldn't use the characteristics mentioned above in more ways than one. Someone with a growth mindset believe that their most basic abilities can be developed through dedication and hard work, brains and talent are just the starting point. • 8. Persuasive Essay For Special Education How to Advocate To ensure that all children with disabilities have available to them a free appropriate public education that emphasizes special education and related services designed to meet their unique needs and prepare them for further education, employment and independent living, and to ensure that the rights of children with disabilities and parents of such children are protected.... (IDEA 2004.) The most important section in the Individuals with Disabilities Act (IDEA) is section 1400, which describes the findings and purpose of the law. Even though the purpose of the law is to provide services and protect their rights, this law does not automatically guarantee all children with a disability eligibility for services under the law. There is more than one legal definition and they can still be very vague and confusing. To be eligible a child must have a disability that affects educational performance and needs special education and related services. The child must meet both criteria to be eligible for a free appropriate public education. Free Appropriate Public Education (FAPE) means special education and related services that are provided at public expense, meet the state standards, are appropriate, and are provided in conformity with an Individualized Education Plan (IEP). However, the term "appropriate" education, does not mean the best education, nor an education that maximizes the child's full potential. It can also differ from one child to the next, because what Get more content on HelpWriting.net

  • 10. Persuasive Essay On Black Lives Matter They Matter For decades black Americans have been treated as animals, looked at as if they are monsters, and killed like bugs. Actions like Police brutality and racism is what caused Black Lives Matter. The creation of the Black Lives Matter was a response by the black community to give a voice to black Americans affected by the increase of wrongful deaths due to the law enforcements and vigilantes across the country. This has been going on for so long that it seems like we are stuck in the past. For years, even decades black Americans have had to live the struggle of being equal. Even when things are going good and we think we finally have the same rights, something happened to change that. It is time to shed a light on the real purpose of Black Lives Matter and why they are important to today's society. Alicia Garza, Patrisse Cullors, and Opal Tometi created a movement centered towards black Americans which later turned into Black Live Matter. Those three leaders came together in 2013 after the Trayvon Martin case that devastated the black community. Black Live Matter, also known as BLM, became an organization that has a mission to give power and a voice to violence inflicted on Black communities. So many black injustices went unnoticed and ignored, but this group will not stand to let that happen again. Injustice to the black community is what causes so many protests and movements that make the Black Lives Matter organization stronger than ever. . The BLM Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 11. Hook For Lord Of The Flies Persuasive Essay Jack and the rest of the boys are looking around trying to contemplate all that just had happened. A naval officer had just put Jack in handcuffs and taken him away with the rest of the boys following. They are all getting on a boat and get shipped back to where they came from, all of the boys were all shocked that they were even getting saved in the first place. All of the officers were asking the boys questions but the boys were too stunned to even speak. For weeks they have dreamed of being saved, of being home, and of their family and finally now it was happening. Jack should not be arrested for the death of Simon. I feel like his death was everyone's fault. They all jump on him and attacked him without even checking to see if it was the beast or not. I think that all of the young boys were accessory to the murder. "The beast struggled forward, broke the ring, and fell over the steep edge of the rock to stand by the water" (Golding 153). That means the boys should have been able to easily tell that it was a human not a "beast". Simon was walking on his feet and I'm guessing that the boys thought it was an animal or creature of some sort so they should have checked it out before attacking. • 12. Persuasive Essay On Truck Drivers Truck drivers are essential to this country's economy. Truck driving is one of the only ways that this country has found to transport most of the goods we produce. There are many flaws in the other ways we transport goods. As the demand for supply goes up the demand for truck drivers will go up as well. Driving a tractor– trailer or a semi– trailer is a great career because of the job outlook, the work environment, and the benefits and compensation. Driving a truck can be a great way to make a living without a college degree. Truck driving is one to the most rapid growing occupations. The Commercial Vehicle Training Association states that, "The truck driver occupation is listed as an occupation with the most growth by the Department of Labor, Bureau of Labor Statistics. (Commercial Vehicle Training Association)" This is very good for people who are trying to get into this occupation. This means that anyone that passes all the requirements is basically guaranteed a job. The Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration says, "The Administration operates a program to improve safety performance and remove high–risk carriers from the Nation's highways. (Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration)" Programs like this exist to help make the roads as safe as possible for everyone. Without these programs there would be hundreds of careless and unsafe drivers on the road. In closing, many programs have been setup to keep all other drivers and the company's materials safe. Truck driving is very demanding because of the long periods spent away from home and the constant driving for a long time. Also some drivers have to load and unload their cargo. The ATA states that, "Working as a long–haul truck driver is a major lifestyle choice because these drivers can be away from home for days or weeks at a time. They spend much of this time alone. (American Trucking Association)" These truck driver's lives are not easy. They spend most of their time on the road and alone and most of the time when they reach their destination, they have to unload what is in the trailer. The NAPFTDS says that, "All graduates must be able to demonstrate that they meet federal, state, and local standards as required for professional truck Get more content on HelpWriting.net

  • 14. Persuasive Essay On Animal Adoption Adopt or Buy? Many people buy the pets they want, but there are rarely any human beings that actually adopt. Let me ask you a simple question. Do you usually buy your pets from a breeder, or do you actually go out and search for the one to adopt? Many of you will say buy from a breeder, but that's okay. Let me just list my facts and you think them over. Maybe I can get your opinion to change. Logos. Facts. Adopting. It means saving one of the more than six million cats, dogs, or countless other animals who enter U.S. animal shelters EVERY SINGLE YEAR. Adopting is never buying any type of animal. What's the difference between a pet store and an animal shelter? This is one of the most asked questions over this topic. And the answer? Profit. Pet stores. Pet stores sell animals only for the money or profit they can get off that animal. Animal shelters are there to save lives. Get an animal off the street. Animal shelters take unwanted, stray, or abandoned animals. Now you may be thinking about an adoption fee. Wouldn't that basically count as buying? Absolutely not. Shelters use the adoption fee so they can get more positive things for the animals. Food, medicine, spay/neuter surgery, vaccinations, microchipping, and other important things for your new companion needs. In other words, your money is going to help animals. Still not convinced adopting is better? Let's take a look at some examples. To convince an audience of the author's credibility or character. Ethical appeal; Ethos. "Each year, 2.7 million adoptable dogs and cats are euthanized in the United States, simply because too many pets come into shelters and too few people consider adoption when looking for a new pet. The number of euthanized animals could be changed dramatically if more people adopted pets instead of buying them." The Humane Society of the United States. Every time you adopt a pet you're saving it's life. Now i'm not a very good example as I just bought a dog from a breeder a week ago, but my family has adopted. We had heard of this pitbull mix that was at the Sulphur Springs Animal Shelter. He had only a couple of days left before he was going to be euthanized. My sister, Jamie, is very in love with pitbulls so we went to go check him Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 15. Persuasive Speech On Social Media Essay Purpose: To persuade my audience to minimize their phone usage. Thesis: Stay in the present moment, don't let yourself believe you're going to forget a memory because you didn't document it through social media. Claim: Policy Organizational Pattern: Problem–Solution I. Introduction A. Attention Getter: Four Years of your life is wasted to what's sitting inside all of your pockets right now; your cellphone. The average person spends roughly 90 minutes a day playing on their phone, whether it's checking emails, Snapchatting or scrolling through your Twitter feed. According to The Dailymail.com we unlock our phones at least 110 times per day! We've become almost dependent on these devices over time, and it needs to stop. We rely on our phones everyday to wake us up for school and to know the time of day. B. Relevance: We live in a world of ever changing technology. Products are always getting upgraded every year and everyone wants the biggest and newest thing on the market. It's hard to not get caught up in all the buzz of things. We feel almost "naked" without our phones; our attachment to them is overwhelming. Without them we feel as though we're missing out on what's happening in the world. Our heads are always down; our thumbs are always swiping up and down on our newsfeed. We're living a life that is more involved in someone else's social media accounts than our own. C. Credibility: As a student at this university I've realized every person on the quad has their heads Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 16. How To Write A Persuasive Essay Writing essay is one of the things that I used to dislike before. For me, writing an essay was a difficult and boring thing. However, I change my mind when I was doing the assignment, "Persuasive Essay". This essay is my first English essay, and it was a quite challenging task for me. In this assignment , I learned a lot. For example, to use the transition words to connect each paragraph. Also, to use other writer's words to make my idea be more powerful. Thus, this assignment improves my writing skills a lot. Before, I didn't know that I have to use the transition words in an essay. For me, an essay is constituted by many single paragraphs. However, everything is different when I was doing this assignment, Persuasive Essay. I noticed that every paragraph should support theme to make an essay stronger. Also, after Ms. Weller marked this assignment, I learned that using transition words can create a powerful link between my ideas. For example, using the word, "in addition" , can make two paragraphs connect to each other. It also can make readers understand the logic of an essay. Therefore, I' ve learned the writing skill which can make each paragraph be connected from this assignment....show more content... I really enjoyed it. As I was researching, I also could read other writer's literature. I notice that using the quote or data can make the theme of an essay be stronger and more persuasive. For example, I use the quote from Steven Crowder, the author of "TheTop 5 Reasons College May Be Waste Of Time In 2015", to support my idea, going to college is unnecessary. The quote not only can make an essay more cogent but also can make readers agree with writer's thinking. • 17. Persuasive Essay On Internet Censorship Information is one of the most powerful tools in the world, even going so far as to make or break countries. There is a constant effort to censor information that puts people or countries in a negative light. This makes the citizens of those countries blind to the truths of the government turning them into sheep. The people shouldn't be sheep because we need them to shape the future. This bill has the sole purpose of loosening internet censorship because it eliminates free will, causes people to have a dangerous amount of patriotism and ultimately makes the internet a more dangerous place than it is. Censorship of the internet keeps people from important knowledge thereby believing that everything on the internet is true. A study was conducted to look into a handful of billionaires who run tech companies in 24 hours and found "more than 137 examples of Silicon Valley companies brazenly banning users, censoring content and manipulating search results to undermine the democratization of information on the web." (PR Newswire). The people with money abuse internet censorship in order to further their own agenda with the support of the greedy. They completely ignore that the internet is supposed to be a resource for everyone. Internet censorship makes countries rot because "When you have strict censorship of the internet, young students cannot receive a full education. Their view of the world is imbalanced. There can be no true discussion of the issues." (Ai WeiWei). The Futures of countries become full of ignorance to the reality of the world. The only truly successful internet censorship is China's system and while it is impressive to maintain it "China employs 2 million to monitor websites" (YaleGlobal Online). This is an unreasonable amount to employ for any country, while feasible for the US it would cost us one of the biggest resources in the world. This lack of free will causes citizens to have an unhealthy amount of patriotism because of the lack of any knowledge of major screw ups as a country. Citizens show a disturbing amount of patriotism which, while patriotism is good, too much is not caused by people not knowing the bads of their country. China, again as an example, have pushed censorship to the Get more content on HelpWriting.net
