Master of Science, Pharmacology (August 2011- December 2014)
St. John’s University, Queens, New York
Master of Science, Toxicology (August 2008- July 2011)
St. John’s University, Queens, New York

WORK EXPERIENCE:
Toxicologist at L’Oreal (March 2015-present):
Responsibilities:
• Review raw material using OECD toolbox and Tox Tree to allow usage, and or threshold increase within the
makeup métier
• Evaluate toxicological profile of current and new raw materials based on margin of safety, quantitative risk
assessment and dermal sensitization threshold
• Actively involved in discussion with various support groups such as DIMP (raw material experts), chemists and
regulatory department of the acquisitions to fetch data on the raw material’s toxicity profile
• Work with various development groups and counterparts from other countries to conduct risk assessment on a
formula, and advice on clinical testing strategy, to help launch a safe product, within the launch timeline
• Help provide product safety approvals on internal, and new L’Oreal acquisitions by reviewing clinical and in-
vitro safety data.
• Provide appropriate clinical safety support and/or claim substantiation for finished products
• Provide project updates on the internal and new L’Oreal acquisitions to the higher management involving
various support groups
• Help develop clinical testing methods and protocols based on GCP (Good Clinical Practices) standards
• Audit and report clinical studies conducted at CRO (Clinical Research Org) to ensure they are meeting the
L’Oreal, FDA and EU (European zones) guidelines
TECHNICAL SKILLS: I have 6 years of laboratory experience in the cGMP environment.
1) Worked independently (under the guidance of my principal investigator) on the project “Evaluation of toxicity of
Maneb (pesticide) on the hippocampal astrocytes” from 2008-2011 as a research student during my Masters in
Toxicology. My project consisted of
• Establishing and maintaining primary cultures
• Establishing LC50 of Maneb in the NRF-2, and NRF-2 knockout astrocytes by performing cytotoxicity assays
such as MTT assay, trypan blue assay, Luminescence Assays.
• Establishing various endpoints of Apoptosis/ Necrosis using fluorescence Assays. Using light microscopy and
Scanning electron microscopy to document the morphological changes in the cellular structure due to the effect
of Maneb (Cellular biology)

2. This work helped to conclude that high use of Maneb by the farmers and accidental exposure to high amount of Maneb
could be one of causes of Alzhimer’s disease.
2) Worked independently (under the guidance of my principal investigator) on the project “The Role of Endothelin-1 in
Endotoxin-Triggered Release of Placental Pro-inflammatory Cytokines.” from 2011-2014 as a research student during
my Masters in Pharmacology. The main purpose of this project was to show the anti-inflammatory effect of BQ-123
(endothelin-1 receptor antagonist) to help avoid the pre-term births. This project consisted of
• Establishing human placental explants from full term human placenta, tissue sampling, maintaining the ex-vivo
system and protein extraction by tissue lysis (Ex-Vivo), maintaining and working with cell-line (in-vitro) and
whole Animal Pharmacology, including drug administration (i.p), blood collection by cardiac puncture (In-Vivo)
• Performing protein estimation assays including BCA assay and Bradford Assay, Western Blots, ELISA,
ELISpot, Microarrays, Immunohistocytochemistry, H/E staining (Biochemical assays)
• Identifying the genes involved in the inflammation performing RNA extraction, and real-time qPCR. The RNA
was also quantified using highly sophisticated NANOdrop technology.
This work helped me to conclude that evaluation of inflammatory mediators affected by ET-1 may lead to the
identification of novel targets for preventive therapy for Preterm births.
Some of the other technical skills I acquired during my job as a teaching assistant are DNA isolation and transfection
study, enzyme kinetic assay and Thin layer chromatography (TLC), High performance liquid chromatography (HPLC)
