2. INTRODUCTION
In this presentation, we have researched
in-depth the application-oriented
teaching and effectiveness of the given
digital educational resources in the real
world.
Many people these days have the ability to
learn and understand concepts through
online learning resources, but how
effective are they, and how well do they
compare to traditional teaching methods?
Can the person learning effectively apply
what they have learnt?
3. KHAN ACADEMY
RESEARCH BY PRANAV KUMAR
Khan Academy is a non-profit educational organization that provides free online educational resources,
including interactive exercises, instructional videos, and articles on a wide range of academic subjects.
Khan Academy has been shown to be an effective teaching tool in a number of studies.
For example, a 2015 study by SRI Education found that students who used Khan Academy for math
instruction showed higher than predicted test performance. The study also found that Khan Academy was
particularly effective for students from low-income families.
Another study, conducted by researchers at the University of California, Berkeley, found that students who
used Khan Academy for math instruction in a blended learning environment (i.e., a combination of online
and in-person instruction) outperformed students who received only traditional instruction.
In addition to these quantitative studies, there are also a number of case studies that provide evidence of
the effectiveness of Khan Academy teaching. For example, a 2017 study by the RAND Corporation found that
a summer school program that used Khan Academy to teach math was effective in improving student
achievement.
Another case study, published in the journal Computers & Education, found that a school in El Salvador that
used Khan Academy to supplement its math instruction saw a significant increase in student achievement
on standardized tests.
4. Overall, the evidence suggests that Khan Academy is an
effective teaching tool. It can be used to improve student
achievement in a variety of settings, including traditional
classrooms, blended learning environments, and summer
school programs.
Case studies:
• SRI Education (2015): Can Khan Academy Improve
Student Achievement in Math?
• University of California, Berkeley (2017): The Impact of
Khan Academy on Student Performance in a Blended
Learning Environment
• RAND Corporation (2017): The Effectiveness of a
Summer School Program Using Khan Academy to
Teach Math
• Computers & Education (2018): Expanding School Time
and the Value of Computer-Assisted Learning: Evidence
from a Randomized Controlled Trial in El Salvador
KHAN ACADEMY
Below is a graph highlighting a pilot program by Khan
Academy themselves. Their pilot included a couple of 7th
grade classrooms with students who typically struggled in
Math. They saw a significant improvement in this group.
The number of Advanced or Proficient students increased
dramatically, from 23% to 41%
5. Pew Research Center is a nonpartisan fact tank that informs the public about the issues, attitudes and trends shaping the world. It
conducts public opinion polling, demographic research, media content analysis and other empirical social science research. Pew
Research does not take policy positions. It is a subsidiary of The Pew Charitable Trusts.
The Pew Research Center has conducted several surveys on application-oriented learning, also known as experiential learning. In
a 2011 survey of college presidents, the Center found that 77% of institutions offered courses with only online instruction. The
proportion of institutions offering online courses varied by sector, with two-year colleges being the most likely to offer online
courses (91%) and private, four-year colleges being the least likely (60%).
In a 2016 survey of Americans, the Center found that a large majority of adults (76%) believe that lifelong learning is important. Of
those who believe that lifelong learning is important, 72% say that they are likely to continue learning new things in the future, and
61% say that they have already taken steps to learn new things.
The Center's surveys have also found that digital technology plays a notable role in people's lifelong learning pursuits. In the 2016
survey, 64% of adults said that they had used the internet to learn something new in the past year, and 56% said that they had
used video-sharing sites like YouTube to learn something new.
The Center's research suggests that application-oriented learning is an important and growing trend in education. This trend is
being driven by the increasing availability of online courses and the growing belief that lifelong learning is important.
PEW RESEARCH CENTER
RESEARCH BY NIKITHA

6. PEW RESEARCH CENTER
Most Americans feel they are lifelong learners, whether that
means gathering knowledge for “do it yourself” projects,
reading up on a personal interest or improving their job
skills. For the most part, these learning activities occur in
traditional places – at home, work, conferences or
community institutions such as government agencies or
libraries. The internet is also an important tool for many
adults in the process of lifelong learning.
A new Pew Research Center survey shows the extent to
which America is a nation of ongoing learners:
• 73% of adults consider themselves lifelong learners.
• 74% of adults are what we call personal learners – that
is, they have participated in at least one of a number of
possible activities in the past 12 months to advance their
knowledge about something that personally interests
them. These activities include reading, taking courses or
attending meetings or events tied to learning more
about their personal interests.
• 63% of those who are working (or 36% of all adults) are
what we call professional learners – that is, they have
taken a course or gotten additional training in the past
12 months to improve their job skills or expertise
connected to career advancement.

education in the United States. Founded in 1966, the Chronicle is the leading source of news and information
for college and university administrators, faculty, and students
In recent years, the Chronicle has faced a number of challenges, including declining readership and
revenue. The rise of digital media has led to a fragmentation of the news audience, and the Chronicle has
struggled to adapt to this new reality. In addition, the Chronicle has been criticized for its coverage of higher
education, which some have said is too focused on negative news..
The Chronicle of Higher Education is the oldest continuously published news magazine in the United States

journalism program and a series of events for higher education leaders.
The Chronicle's efforts have had some success. The magazine's website has seen a significant increase in
traffic in recent years, and the Chronicle has also been successful in attracting new subscribers. However,
the Chronicle still faces a number of challenges, including the need to generate more revenue and to
continue to adapt to the changing media landscape.

Edupage was a publication of Educause. It was a free three-
time-a-week electronically distributed summary of technology
news extracted from the mainstream media that was first
released to a circulation of less than 100 in 1992. It was originally
written by John Gehl and Suzanne Douglas, who left in April
1999[3] to devote their full attention to their company which
publishes a daily newsletter similar to Edupage.
Edupage is currently in a publishing hiatus (since December
2006), as Educause looks at different ways to deliver resources
and content to their audience.
