Information
about Khan Kids
27. Things that work for them
- Free app, Established brand
- Lots of activities – something new every time a child visits
- An animated guide/friend – vocal instructions
- It is a bright app – mostly white backgrounds – for young kids
- Music is upbeat and fun for kids
- The pace of reading/narration is slow
- Books (page flip) are user controlled
- Very easy navigation
- One click to start journey
- Video player – no seekbar or other controls
- Feels clean and clutter-free
28. Things that may go against them
- Made especially for the US market – vocal instructions in american accent
- Finding a video/activity that has been played earlier is very difficult
29. Takeaways/Suggestions
● Very similar to our app in terms of user flows and activities – validation for us
● We should have a different strategy for students who cannot read/understand sentences – grades 1 and
below
● It is a clean and clutter free app – our backgrounds could be cleaner
● Music should be fun for kids
● The narration should be slower
● Our narrative videos could be added to the library as books
● We can borrow some labels from them - e.g. “Create” for Sticker Book
● If we have to compete with them in the US market, we will need something more than the app –
manipulatives/tools
