  1. 1. OGC ® Team 4: CKAN Extension to Integrate User Feedback with NiMMbus: The case of ECOPotential Joan Masó, Alaitz Zabala, Jovanka Guliscoska
  2. 2. OGC ® Geospatial User Feedback • User feedback is a form of CitSci data and complements producers data quality. Since CitSci projects are conducted by communities, they can validate the data collectively by providing feedback on the data others have captured
  3. 3. OGC ® How to enter new feedback • A development for the NextGEOSS project
  4. 4. OGC ® Examples of GUF integration: INSPIRE discovery portal • Looking for “Corine” and “Spain”, this is the first record that shows previous feedback entries
  5. 5. OGC ® Examples of GUF integration: ECOPotential map browser
  6. 6. OGC ® Live Demo • Example 1: INSPIRE portal http://www.creaf.uab.cat/temp/inspire/ • Example 2: ECOPotential maps http://maps.ecopotential-project.eu/ • More on the integration process https://github.com/joanma747/nimmbus/tree/master/GUF_integration • Future development Create a widget Copyright © 2018 Open Geospatial Consortium
  7. 7. OGC ® Future of GUF • At the moment: – The programmer retrieves directly the feedback items related with a resource using the NiMMBus API and gets the response encoded in XML. The programmer should generate a presentation by himself/herself. This provides him/her full control on how the content is shown in the screen but it requires considerable more knowledge on JavaScript programming, including XML parsing and AJAX calls. • Future: – Develop a JavaScript API and a widget • very simple to integrate • relative low level of flexibility – It will be useful for fast an simple integration requiring only basic knowledge on JavaScript Copyright © 2018 Open Geospatial Consortium
  8. 8. OGC ® Thanks Joan Masó, Alaitz Zabala, Jovanka Guliscoska
