SENSOR FOR MONITORING FOOD CONSUMPTION
Idea: The finger-worn device detects food consumption.
• The ring further comprises of electromagnetic energy sensor
that is configured to measure parameters or patterns of
electromagnetic energy transmitted through the user’s tissue.
These patterns change according to the user’s food
consumption and hence are used to analyze it.
• The electromagnetic energy sensor measures changes in
impedance, resistance, conductivity of the user’s finger tissue.
• The device comprises of an emitter, a receiver and an energy
resonator [Fig.1] The electromagnetic energy emitter is
configured to emit electromagnetic energy at a first location; an
electromagnetic energy receiver which is configured to receive
electromagnetic energy at a second location, wherein
parameters or patterns of the received electromagnetic energy
are changed by the user's consumption of food; the
electromagnetic energy resonator between the electromagnetic
energy.
• Challenges: The sole outcome of the patent which is to monitor food
consumption is successfully achieved. However, the patent claims
to reduce obesity by monitoring food, the challenge occurs since the
invention is not coupled with a calorie intake sensor, using a
spectroscopic sensor. a user that intakes junk food at moderate
proportions is still prone to obesity due to high calories. If the
current sensor is coupled with a calorie intake sensor, the invention
will be more helpful.
