  3. 3. Probably by some of YOU
  4. 4. You are here because you are in the PC business.
  5. 5. We’re in the PC BUSINESS too. We’re PASSIONATE about PC’s.
  6. 6. PASSIONATE We are about technology

  10. 10. 3 topics in 15mins 1. TECHNOLOGY IS SIMPLE. 2. THE PROCESSOR MATTERS MOST. 3. INTEL INSIDE IS ALWAYS YOUR FIRST STEP
  11. 11. 1. Technology is SIMPLE
  12. 12. START WITH THE PC 1.
  13. 13. LIKE A PERSON
  14. 14. A PC IS A SYSTEM
  15. 15. Made up of many parts
  16. 16. = PROCESSOR is BRAINS
  17. 17. BRAINS DO CALCULATIONS
  18. 18. = SOFTWARE ARE TOOLS
  19. 19. = MEMORY IS WORKSPACE
  20. 20. BIGGER TOOLS FOR BIGGER JOBS
  21. 21. BIGGER TOOLS NEED MORE WORKSPACE
  22. 22. MORE WORKSPACE MEANS MORE MEMORY
  23. 23. UPGRADES: 1. MORE MEMORY 2. NEW SOFTWARE 3. FASTER PROCESSOR
  24. 24. MORE HANDS MEAN FASTER WORK
  25. 25. = CACHE IS HANDS
  26. 26. CPU. BRAIN CACHE. HANDS MEMORY. DESK SOFTWARE. TOOLS
  27. 27. THE SYSTEM INTERCONNECT IS LIKE A HIGHWAY
  28. 28. (FSB) LESS LANES ARE SLOWER
  29. 29. (QPI) MORE LANES ARE FASTER
  30. 30. = CHIPSET TRAFFIC DIRECTOR IS THE
  31. 31. CHIPSET, NERVOUS SYSTEM
  32. 32. POWEROFF
  33. 33. = HARD DRIVE a FILING CABINET
  34. 34. MORE GB’S = MORE STORAGE
  35. 35. QUICKER ACCESS means LESS WAITING
  36. 36. SOLID STATE DISC DRIVES are FASTER
  37. 37. SOUND AND PICTURES… …YOU HAVE A CHOICE
  38. 38. SEPARATED
  39. 39. INTEGRATED
  40. 40. OR INTEGRATED? SEPARATED
  41. 41. INTERGRATED decreases POWER USE shrinks device SIZE decreases COST
  42. 42. integrated inside
  43. 43. = GRAPHICS PROCESSOR is a PAINTER
  44. 44. light and shadow
  45. 45. = SOUND PROCESSOR is the ONE MAN BAND
  46. 46. = MOTHER BOARD is the SKELETON
  47. 47. ALL THE PIECES fit together LIKE A SYSTEM
  48. 48. CPU. BRAIN CACHE. HANDS MEMORY. DESK SOFTWARE. TOOLS CHIPSET. NERVOUS SYSTEM HARD DRIVE. FILING CABINET GRAPHICS. PAINTER SOUND. MUSICIAN
