Editor's Notes
As a self-confessed foodie, ordering food is something I both love and hate. I love going through page after page of delicious sounding items but am always confused as to what to order. This decision is doubly hard when I have to order not only for myself but for the whole table.
My solution to this decision fatigue facing several foodies is a rotating menu. The limited menu concept is slowly starting to be adopted by several restaurants internationally with the likes of Le Relais de Venise L’Entrecôte in Paris and now a global chain or Burger & Lobster in Mayfair which offer no options. The concept will probably take a while to penetrate in the Indian food market where the average menu at restaurants is a minimum of 8 pages and with some caterers it is even longer! At Bawi Bride we give this a twist by having a new menu that is available each week and offering a customised menu based on your guests and your preferences for parties.
share the story - how it was a blog, how bawa groom motivated me to try out selling dishes/love for cooking. Continuing with the blog and some of the plans there;
- parsis are known for their food but very few parsi cooking classes - the key mission here is to try to find a studio where I can do these classes - want to do it professionally.
Corporate catering market is saturated but not really for startups who face the problem of being perpetually understaffed - in such circumstances organising the catering is always the last priority.
When ordering for parties, the host has to go through 3 - 4 caterers as not everyone offers what they want. To be able to provide customised menus for their parties and oversee that it all goes well - doesn’t all have to be cooked by Bawi Bride / could be linked to another caterer?
Food and events go hand in hand. Trained as an event co-ordinator so could also expand into that area
Chef assistance - either in the form of a co-founder or else an early stage recruit to help on weekends/in a freelance model in building up the business
Mentorship - was based in NZ so need support in getting connected to right people, suppliers etc.
