Obsidian is a dark volcanic glass that forms when lava cools rapidly. It can be used for arrow tips, knife blades, jewelry like necklaces and rings, and other applications where its sharp edges are useful, including car colors, shoe colors, pen parts, and chess pieces. Obsidian rocks vary in texture and color depending on their chemical composition and some contain small green specks.
