Analysis Of Matthew Mcconauhey Lincoln Commercial
Matthew McConauhey Lincoln Commercial
Lincoln has come out with a series of commercials starring Matthew McConauhey who because of his smooth southern accent can make you feel very
comforting in anything that he says. I am going to analyze a Lincoln commercial that is trying to show that they're car is very environmentally friendly
but are playing it off like it's a by–product of making a nice car this is not true and through a series of arguments I will show you that. This commercial
uses
Initially there is a close up shot of Matthew McConauhey's face while he says "It's not about hugging trees, it's not about being wasteful either." This
comes as conserving the environment is cool and all but as I fore mentioned it's really only a by–product of our cars. This does not come across in the
landscapes around him. As he says this line he is perched on top of a cliff looking over a metropolis just as the sun is rising. This to me represents
a new beginning to cars and what is coming up in the future, a new age of clean transportation if you will. At the same keeping the same world that
we know and love in the background. As this shot pans around we see the actually city he is looking upon. In the sky of this city it is showing a
brown haze potentially from the NO_2 that is commonly in the air around populated cities as it is a component of smog. While he looks into this
brown haze he himself if off in the country somewhere gazing upon the city. This shows howLincoln is

Mean Tweet Persuasive Speech
If you haven't heard, President Obama was in Hollywood yesterday. He traveled with his motorcade to Hollywood for a guest appearance on a late
night TV show. Fans who were visiting the area got a big surprise that they will never forget. As for the locals, they are still grumbling over the
traffic woes. Every time I see the motorcade I just smile in awe. Little American flags on the corners of the cars, police everywhere and patriotic
music blaring. OK, technically the music is from my car, but it's a good time to share a patriotic tune when the president drives by. I always wave as
it's possible he's looking out the window wondering who is playing their radio way too loud in Los Angeles and I don't want him to think it's the other

Fans were expecting Kevin James and Ray Romano to be perfect pair and that's exactly what happened, except they were overshadowed by the
man bun. When Romano reveals the man bun is fake in a very casual way, fans couldn't stop laughing. It didn't stop there, that wad of hair kept
coming up as part of the discussion. 'Jimmy Kimmel Live' Mean Tweets: President Obama edition The popular segment on "Jimmy Kimmel Live"
of mean tweets might have hit a home run with President Obama on Monday night. The segment of President Obama reading mean tweets had
everyone smiling. Check out the video and the last tweet on this segment definitely will have you laughing too (no matter which party you belong
too.) Marilu Henner falls hard on "Dancing With the Stars On Monday night fans were shocked as they watched on live TV as Marilu Henner fell on
"Dancing With the Stars". Frankly, I was holding my breath after seeing the team dance. The fall looked hard. Obviously this is a competition
program, but fans don't want to see a celebrity involved in an injury. That's just no fun! Hopefully she is OK! Another couple went home on Monday's
show and fans have a good idea of who might win as the tough competitors aren't making any

"We are extremely excited that Ford has chosen ADP Dealer Services to be part of their ACE Program. With our track record of providing successful,

It all started with the development of a graphical software program that gave rise to the notion of "surfing" (Netscape 's). Netscape Communications

The optimal capital structure minimizes the firm 's composite cost of capital and saves money for other opportunities. Therefore, the mandatory use of
optimal capital structure and risk management is becoming increasingly important. Netscape 's operating result in 1995 had showed the Current ration

Spyglass (13.75, 0.00). More long–term debt would decrease the Current ration, and increase the Debt ration. Additionally, of Netscape 's competitors

Netscape had been injected with various forms of investment capital, which included private equity investors. Continuing the same method to fund
capital will further dilute Netscape 's ownership. Although, Netscape had a net loss of over $4 million on total assets over $42 million, and had
never declared a profit in its short operating history, there must certainly be characterized as a risky IPO. However, based on the research of Wall

high, and would continual to grow. According to all of the factors we have mentioned above, by balancing the intense competitions, the business risks,
the high market demand, and the costs involved, we feel confident that Netscape would gain more

My Career As A Nurse
This world offers so many career opportunities, from being an elementary teacher to a yoga instructor to a cardiologist. The job variety is endless,
and anyone has the potential at becoming a professional in the career of their dreams. I've always known I wanted to go college, and now I know I
want to become a nurse anesthetist. Since I was little, I haven't always dreamed of becoming a nurse anesthetist. When I was younger if someone
would ask me what I wanted to be when I got older, I would say I wanted to be a singer, a teacher, or a chef, and that answer would change on a
regular basis. Even recently now I've changed my future career from being a physical therapist to a psychiatrist to a registered nurse. A registered nurse
spends an average day in the hospital assisting and managing patients with medicine, documenting information, and communicating with supervisors,
peers, and subordinates. A registered nurse that specializes inanesthesia, which is a nurse anesthetist, will always be doing specific tasks such as:
administering anesthesia to patients before and during surgery and they care for and monitor patients before, during, and after surgery. I would love
to become a nurse anesthetist, because I want to be able to help care for others and I want to be in an environment where I am helping patients recover
and helping with pain. After doing research and asking many questions, I've become dead set on becoming a nurse anesthetist. In the medical field, a

Research Paper On Vasco Da Gama
Vasco Da Gama, the Valiant Navigator Have you ever wondered who God appointed to sail four times farther than Christopher Columbus on his first
official expedition and became one the the most superb navigators of all time? Around 1497, Vasco da Gama, who was raised near the Atlantic Ocean,
was chosen by the King of Portugal to lead an over 24,000 mile expedition, which would establish a direct open water and spice trade route from
Portugal to India. Making Portugal a dominate power in politics, trade and colonization, Vasco da Gamafinished what Bartolomeu Dias started, and
valiantly accomplished what Christopher Columbus could not. Beginning his life in southern Portugal, near Lisbon, Vasco da Gama was captivated by

Many European countries sent explorers to discover a new sea route to the East Indies, which were abundant with spices and valuable trading
items. Vasco da Gama had made many brave accomplishments. On November 22, 1497 he rounded the Cape of Good Hope. Da Gama's first route
took him closer to South America, but he had to go out that far to avoid the trouble of the coast. Unexpectedly, the first Portuguese sailors
experienced stormy weather, strong winds, and massive currents closer to Africa. Da Gama shortened time of the trip by increasing the miles in
order to avoid potential hazardous disasters of the coast. By going so far out from the coast, Vasco's crew sailed the longest voyage, which covered
four thousand miles before the winds blew them back to Africa just north of the Cape of Good Hope. After setting sail once again, Vasco went so far
west, that he was only six hundred miles away from South America. On November 4th, after ninety–six days in open seas, da Gama reached the Cape
of Good Hope in half the time as Dias. Da Gama's stop in Africa, on the second half of his voyage, showed him the real life of the African people.
Many were friendly. The differences between them were met with delight, trading, music, and dancing. Although, in the end, the Africans refused
to help and destroyed the stone markers (called Padroes) and desecrated sacred crosses, which da Gama left to mark his route and claim territory
for Portuguese trading posts. A few days later da Gama stopped in Mossel Bay to leave the supply ship behind, because it wasn't needed any more.
After Mossel Bay, da Gama took a stop in Mozambique to recover and trade with the natives as well as build another Padroes. While da Gama was in
Mozambique, he saw the most amazing riches from India. One sailor wrote in his diary that Arab ships were "laden with gold, silver, cloves, pepper,
ginger, pearls, jewels, and rubies... all of which were used

The case analyzes the Initial Public Offering (IPO) of Netscape Communications Inc., in order to recommend a justifiable share price for the IPO.

it 's Internet Browser, Netscape Navigator. In December 1994, Netscape Navigator generated 49% and 65% of total revenues for the quarters ended

These firms would gain substantial profits when Netscape goes public. Top management of Netscape would also support the IPO.
The company may need to attract financing in the future to fund the future projects. Given, the company maintain a good credit rating, it is relatively
easy to obtain debt financing at a cheap rate. A public quoted company can raise debt at a relatively cheap rate compared to a privately help company.
Given the size of the capital raised through public offering, it could be a tedious task to raise same amount of capital in private placements.
IPO, Hot Issue, Under Pricing
It seems as if making money in these issues is easier than buying stock in the secondary market. Unfortunately many "hot issues" of IPOs produce a
big chunk of their gains on the first day of trading. And most individual investors are not fortunate enough to get in on the floor of a promising IPO.
The most attractive IPO's are offered to certain clients first, mainly institutions, such as other corporations and pension plans, and big individual
investors. Therefore it might be a good idea to buy an IPO once they begin trading on the secondary market. It is possible that the IPO after it begins
trading could potentially produce a return similar to that of the average performance recorded by some small–cap stocks. When a

Henry Ford's Automobile & It's Effects on American Society
Over the course of the 20th century, the automobile has gone from being an expensive toy of the rich, to being the standard for passenger transport in
most developed countries around the world (Urry). Not unlike the effects of the introduction of Railways into society, automobiles have changed social
interactions, employment patterns, goods distribution and the basic face of urban society. Theautomobile itself is a rather controversial issue. Supporters
of the automobile claim that it is a "marvel of technology" that has brought about prosperity, while opponents aver it leads to urban planning that

Ford believed that by paying people more, he would enable Ford employees to afford the cars they were producing and be good for the economy.
This new wage plan was offered to men over the age of 22 who had worked for Ford for at least 6 months, and whose lifestyles were approved by
Ford's Sociological Department (150 investigators and support staff who maintained "employee standards"). Another defining characteristic of Ford
Motor Company is Henry Ford's adamant opposition to labor unions. Ford Motor Company was the last Detroit automobile company to sign a contract
with the United Auto Workers union, having done so in June of 1941.
In more recent years, the Ford Motor Company has encountered some resistance from environmentalists. "Ford motor co. ranked 7th as one of the top
corporate air polluters in the United States releasing 9.67 million pounds of toxic air in 2002" (PERI). In an attempt to appease the criticism received
due to their environmental standing by announcing a plan in 2000 to improve the average gasoline mileage of a line of its trucks by twenty–five
percent by 2005. This goal was never met; Ford announced that "competitive market conditions and technological and cost challenges would prevent
the company from achieving this

Title: Assess the factors which stimulated Atlantic Maritime exploration in 15th century
During the period of time 1400–1499 great gains were made by the Europeans in their quest for knowledge of the world they lived in. In this time
period the Europeans circum–navigated Africa, located the territories of the West Indies and basically redrew the map of the world. All these things had
one thing in common; they were the result of extensive Atlantic maritime exploration. The reasons that European engaged in such aggressive
exploration in 15th century can be attributed to several factors. These factors can be grouped into three major headings, technological and ... Show more

Thus each time a new tax was applied to the goods the Moslem merchants raised the price at which they would sell the goods at to recoup their
expenses. Therefore as the Italian merchants had to cover their expenses that raised the prices of the goods also. This fact proved economically
unacceptable to the other European merchants. The high cost of purchasing these goods made European merchants willing to fund exploration to find
an alternate route to the goods of India. The merchants believed that by finding the alternate route they could remove the middle men from the process
of obtaining the goods and also as the route would not have to go through any other kingdom the goods would not be subjected to the taxation with
increased the price it cost to obtain the goods. Therefore by obtaining the goods at a cheaper price the merchant realized they would gain vastly
increased profits. Similarly it was not only merchants that saw the importance of finding and controlling a shorter route to the riches of Africa and
India. Nations also saw the great benefits controlling such routes would bring to them. This was the principle reason that nations such as Portugal and
Spain pursued maritime exploration. Portugal had to engage in this activity due to the fact that they did not have the natural resources in Portugal to
engage in empire building. Prince Henry "the

Essay on The Meaning of the Gettysburg Address
Essay on the Meaning of the Gettysburg Address
While the Gettysburg Address is fairly short in length at around 300 words, this famous speech delivered by President Abraham Lincoln on November
19, 1963 in Gettysburg, Pennsylvania is both enduring and meaningful for all Americans today, almost exactly 146 years later. The first paragraph of
his speech sets the tone, in which Lincoln does not directly mention the bloody Battle of Gettysburg, in which 50,000 soldiers lost their lives. Instead, he
refers in the opening phrase, "Four score and seven years ago," to the founding of America through another important written document, the Declaration
of Independence in 1776. I believe Lincoln wanted the country to focus on preserving this ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
I believe he is again focusing on preserving the country and uniting all Americans, North and South, behind the nation and reminding them of our
common history. President Lincoln also refers to the dedication of the Battlefield of Gettysburg, emphasizing that this is," a final resting place for those
who here gave their lives that that nation might live." Clearly, Lincoln wants to remind all citizens that these thousands of casualties were for a great
purpose of preserving this country, not dividing it through a Civil War.
In the third paragraph, President Lincoln stresses the important point that the words of his speech cannot actually bless or make holy the Battlefield of
Gettysburg. Rather, he indicates the bravery of the men, both living and dead, has already made the ground of the battlefield sacred. Again, Lincoln is
honoring the actions of all the soldiers, Union and Confederate, and trying to unite the nation instead of dividing it.
In the last paragraph of the speech, President Lincoln is telling the American people that the proper way to honor the brave soldiers is to dedicate and
devote your life to the country, one which there will be, "a new birth of freedom." Lincoln points out this government will represent all the people, and
will remain forever. President Lincoln, through this speech is trying heal the nation that is divided by the great Civil War, and offering

Evaluation Of A General Oncology Nurse Navigator
Five years from now I will be sixty years old. Many people think that at that age I should be planning for my retirement. I hope that my good health
will continue and that I will have earned my DNP. I am planning to continue to work as a general oncology nurse navigator. I envision moving to part
time status in five to seven years. I foresee the current navigation program growing. I hope we will have at least two more full time, disease specific
navigators. Working as a navigator in a part time capacity would allow me to return to nursing education.
Navigation is a new role for nursing. If the program is to grow into disease specific navigators my role will need to change. Educating existing
physicians at my facility has been a challenge. Many physicians are not willing to discuss the patient's diagnoses, or treatment options. Instead they tell
the patients their diagnoses or treatment options. Many physicians practicing at my hospital seem to lack the time or know how to have these
conversations. I have been told by several patients, they did not fully understand "the paper " the physician gave them regarding their surgical options.
They have told me they just chose what the physician recommended or what their relative had done. This is frustrating for me because my role was
specifically created to assist physicians in these circumstances to save them valuable time. N0 matter how physicians are educated, they do not refer
patients to the service. My referrals

Christopher Columbus finds America
Explorer and navigator Christopher Columbus was born in 1451 in the Republic of Genoa, Italy. His first voyage into the Atlantic Ocean in 1476
nearly cost him his life. Columbus participated in several other expeditions after. He has been credited for opening up the Americas to European
colonization. Columbus was rejected by Genoa, Portugal, Venice, and Spain for a crew to explore with. During his expedition to America he visited
Haiti, Dominican Republic, and Cuba. Columbus was becoming very discouraged and mad while traveling through the Atlantic. Columbus didn 't

Toyota Utility Vehicles Drive The Lincoln Brand
Four utility vehicles drive the Lincoln brand, including the all–new MKX.
If the standout feature for an SUV is its nifty massaging capabilities, what does that tell you about the rest of the vehicle? Maybe not as much as you

My test model was a 2016 Lincoln MKX AWD. The base price for a front–wheel drive model begins at $38,260. Choose all–wheel drive and your
MKX will start at $40,755.
As tested, my Reserve model came with a $47,650 base price and topped out at $63,535. Lincoln doesn't offer official trim levels, calling them
"equipment groups" instead. Standard, Premiere and Reserve groups are offered; a special high–end Black Label package is also available.
Instead of the standard 3.7–liter, naturally aspired V–6 engine, the test model received the 2.7–liter, turbocharged V–6 engine, an option that
immediately adds $2,000 to your cost.
Reaching the final price came through still more upgrades, including the special bronze fire metallic paint ($495), a cargo utility package ($395),

21–inch polished aluminum wheels ($1,300), and adaptive steering ($625). The 22–way power driver's seat was yet another option, this one coming in
at $1,500. All told, Lincoln added nearly $15,000 in options to a model that already had a price premium topping $7,500 over the standard all–wheel

Dred Scott v. Sandford Dred Scott was born a slave in the state of Virginia around the 1800's. Around 1833 he was purchased from his original

Sandford. Because Mr. Sandford resided in New York, there was "diversity" of residence, and the case was taken to federal courts. Mr. Scott lost
this suit as well, and this time appealed to the U.S Supreme Court. The U.S. Supreme court ruled that Mr. Scott was a black man and therefore had
no rights; this included the right to sue. During the trial period, Mr. Scott and his family were in the custody of the St. Louis county sheriff

the family of his first owner, and in fact Charles E Labeaume, the brother in law of Peter Blow, had been renting the family and helped Mr. Scott
sue for his freedom in the Federal Court. Dred Scott also sued Mr. Sandford for battery and wrongful imprisonment. Mr. Sandford did not deny Mr.
Scotts claim, he agreed that he had "gently laid his hands upon" Scott and his family, but that he could do so because they were legally his
property. Sanford won this case because Mr. Scott's status as a slave had already been decided by Missouri Supreme Court. There was also the
question that when Mr. Scott did reside in the free states, why didn't he claim his freedom then? In the past Missouri courts supported the doctrine of
"once free, always free," however Dred Scott could not read or write. Money ran low for the Blow family and they were no

Persuasive Essay About Study Abroad
Why do people leave their home countries in order to live in a foreign country? Why do they move abroad? Some people believe that getting up and
moving to a different is not hard, but it is not as easy as it sounds. People do so for various reasons: to escape as a refugee – if there are certain
circumstances and issues like a revolution or war are going in a country – or immigrate to change their life forever.
In my case, I decided to move to a foreign country as an exchange student, surviving a long forty–two hour flight from my home country, Tajikistan, to

Describe The Characters Of Abraham Lincoln
1. Describe the character BOOTH in your own words as though we were writing them on the board.
Booth is a black man in his 30's that is looking to settle down with Grace. Booth is the younger brother of Lincoln that struggles to make any
income. He is a good looking man, or at least he portrays himself to be, that is somewhat dirty and unkempt due to the fact that he does not have the
money to afford running water. Usually he wears average streets clothes, maybe some rugged jeans and a worn shirt, but from time to time he will
wear a nice suit and shoes that he has stolen from a department store. For the most part, Booth is an average sized man that has a rugged outer
appearance due to having to handle his own on the streets in the card game business.
2. Describe the character LINCOLN in your own words as though we were writing them on the board.
Lincoln is a black man in his late 30's that is the older brother of Booth. Lincoln is the brother that makes the income of the two by acting as Abraham
Lincoln. Since he plays Abe he must be a tall kind of slender man, but no facial hair because he has to wear a fake beard. He also has a dirty
unkempt look about him because he neither has running water, resides in the same place as his brother. He is somewhat older looking than Booth, and
has an aged face and short hair that is slowly thinning over the years due to having to step in as the father for Booth. Lincoln took on all responsibility

He never really approved of technology which led him to live out in the middle of the woods on property he bought from the help of his family. On

added razor blades for more of a lethal appeal. If he was mailing his bombs, one of his actions to get investigators distracted was leaving red herrings.
For part of his behavior, he sent the bombs to universities, computer shops, and airlines mainly. Sometimes Kaczynski transported the bombs himself to
houses he thought that were plotting against him. The more attention the better, the more lethalness that the bomb contained, the better. Anything that
led investigators away from Kaczynski was always his plan. In some ways, investigators sometimes thought that person behind all these terrorist acts

Essay Frederick Douglass and Slavery
Frederick Douglass and Slavery Frederick Douglass the most successful abolitionist who changed America's views of slavery through his writings and
actions. Frederick Douglass had many achievements throughout his life. His Life as a slave had a great impact on his writings. His great oratory
skills left the largest impact on Civil Wartime period literature. All in all he was the best black speaker and writer ever. Douglass was born a slave in
1817, in Maryland. He educated himself and became determined to escape the horror of slavery. He attempted to escape slavery once, but failed. He
later made a successful escape in 1838.

In reply, Douglass wrote Narrative Of The Life Of Frederick Douglass, An American Slave (1845), which he revised in later years: in final form, it
appeared in 1882 under the title Life and Times Of Frederick Douglass." (Graves, 52 ) Frederick's oratory skills left the largest impact on Civil War time
period literature. Douglass's most significant autobiographical works include: Narrative Of The Life Of Frederick Douglass, An American Slave:
My Bondage And My Freedom: and Life And Times Of Frederick Douglass. These three books are about the same person, and share a similar
message, but are written by Frederick at different times of his life, looking at the past in different ways.
In Narrative Of The Life Of Frederick Douglass, Douglass used a simple, yet educated way to show how he felt as a slave growing up in
Maryland. He describes in the Narrative "I have often been so pinched with hunger as to dispute with old "Nep," the dog, for the crumbs which fell
from the kitchen table." (Douglass, 34) Douglass's Narrative was known as being a brief, descriptive (like his statement in the above lines), and
easy to read piece of literature. It showed the hardships of slavery as seen by a real slave. "I remember thinking that God was angry with the white
people because of their slave holding wickedness, and therefore his judgments were abroad in the land" (Douglass, 89) Douglass became educated
through his own means. Knowledge was truly a

Lies My Teacher Told Me by James W. Loewen Essay
Lies My Teacher Told Me by James W. Loewen High school history textbooks are seen, by students, as presenting the last word on American History.
Rarely, if ever, do they question what their text tells them about our collective past. According to James W. Loewen's Lies My Teacher Told Me, they
should be. Loewen has spent considerable time and effort reviewing history texts that were written for high school students. In Lies, he has reviewed
twenty texts and has compared them to the actual history. Sadly, not one text measures up to the author's expectation of teaching students to think.
What is worse, though, is that students come away from their classes without "having developed the ability to think coherently about social... Show

According to Loewen they got his name right, and not much else. Lies points out that there were many groups of explorers that had "discovered"
America before Columbus. He probably used some of their information as a basis for his plans to sail west. A full eight pages are devoted to other
possible explorers. These groups include ancient groups from Indonesia, Japan, China, and Phoenicia. More recent groups include the Vikings, British
Islanders, West Africans, and Portuguese fishermen. There are varying levels of evidence connecting these groups to pre–Columbian America, but still
enough to throw doubt into the mix. Columbus got the credit because of the way in which Europe responded to his "discovery." Other false ideas
taught about Columbus deal with what is left out. His original motivation may have been to find another trade route to the Orient, but his real
motivation, in subsequent expeditions to America, was money. By 1493 Columbus had planned to plunder Haiti, according to Michele de Cuneo,
who had been on Columbus's first voyage. Columbus, himself, said to Ferdinand and Isabella that his motivation was gold, and " gold constitutes
treasure; and he who has it does all he wants in the world, and can even lift souls up to Paradise" (Lies p34). Another side of Columbus

Nebraska in the late 1800s. Although My Antonia is fictional, it is based on Willa Cather's youth in Nebraska. As Jim Burden did in the book, Willa
Cather moved from Virginia to Nebraska as a child to live with her grandparents. The town of Black Hawk symbolized Red Cloud in Cather's youth.
Willa Cather also attended the University of Nebraska at Lincoln. Jim Burden moved from Virginia to Nebraska to live with his grandparents after his
parents died. He traveled with Jake Marpole, one of the farm hands that worked for Jim's dad. Jake was now going west to work for Jim's grandfather.
On the train ride to his grandparents' farm he finds out that an immigrant family from Bohemia was traveling to the same area. After he arrived at his
grandparents' farm, Jim met the Shimerdas. The Shimeradas' were the Bohemian family he had heard about on the train. They were his neighbors. The

Essay about The Dredd Scott Case
The Dredd Scott Case
The Dredd Scott case involved a landmark decision in the history of the Supreme Court, in the history of the United States the decision in this case was
one of the most damaging statements in the history of the Supreme Court, involving the citizenship of a black person in the United States, and the
constitutionality of the Missouri Compromise in 1820. The history of a black man named Dredd Scott states that he was a slave originally owed by a
family by the name of Blow, which ended up selling him in 1833 to an army surgeon by the name of Dr. John Emerson of St. Luis. Due to his

written by the members of the majority, Chief Justice Taney's is considered to present the forma; view of the Court, and I think that these are the most
damaging statements in the case. Taney first dealt with the issues of whether Dredd Scott or any slave or descendant of slaves could be a slave s

included, and were not intended to be included, under the word "citizen" in the US constitution, and can, therefore, claim none of the rights and
privileges which that instrument provides for and secures to citizens of the United

Taney drew this conclusion from an examination of historical practices and the intent of the Framers of the Constitution. "Slaves," he said," had more

Civil War 9 Essay
Many developments in social life and the constitution amounted to a revolution between 1860 and 1877. Some of the major events that took place
during this time period were the secession of the southern states, Civil War, Thirteenth, Fourteenth, and Fifteenth amendment, and reconstruction.
In 1860, South Carolina declared their causes of secession. South Carolina was the first state to secede, and their main reason was that their powers were
restrained by the federal government. They felt they were not sovereign, and therefore needed to secede.
In the 1860's, the nation continued to struggle to become united. Congress introduced the new banking and currency systems. Senator John Sherman

In 1863, Abraham Lincoln finalized the Emancipation Proclamation. The Proclamation was a very important document in that it guaranteed the future
freedom of all American slaves. Though the Proclomation was to have an important impact it initially failed and didn't change the position of a single
slave in the south. The south did not consider itself part of the Union and pushed them to fight even harder to protect their so–called "property". Though
Lincoln knew that this would anger the south even more, he issued it at a time when he believed that the Union was on the verge of winning and that
the south would have to give in to a slave–less existance.
In 1866, the Fourteenth Amendment was passed, which gave the blacks their freedom. Senator Lot Morrill addresses this amendment as a revolution,
because that one amendment alone revolutionized the system based on black servitude. That form of civilization which we once knew is now
"gone forever."
In 1867, Harper's Weekly portrays a Black citizen casting his first vote. The right to vote was given to blacks in the Fifteenth Amendment.
Thomas Nast depicts that the newly emancipated black people are no threat to the whites because they've only escaped slavery to come into poverty.
In a way, Nast seems

Age Of Exploration Vs American Exploration
The Age of exploration was from the late 1400 to the 1700. It was a time period where many countries sought out new resources and trade routes. The
two countries that were notorious in exploration during the Renaissance were Portugal and Spain. The Portuguese and Spanish were rivals in
exploration. They were always competing with each other over who was better. Spanish exploration was more effective than Portuguese exploration
because the Spanish went to land unexplored, colonised and made more voyages than the Portuguese.
Trade was a necessity for early kingdoms after the Middle Ages. People, especially kings and monarchs wanted new trade routes for more wealth.
Spain's motivation for trade was to explore unknown land to find gold(Frey 333). ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Columbus was a very important figure in this decision because he was one of the most known explorer from the Renaissance. He made four voyages
to unexplored land, traded and became friends with natives, then he colonized and killed most of the natives. Prince Henry the navigator was also a
widely known explorer of the Renaissance. He mapped and made voyages to India around the Horn of Africa. In addition he did take two voyages. But
why Christopher Columbus was better is that he took four voyages to an unexplored and unknown place. Portugal had better equipment and better
knowledge going into exploration but they didn't use that to their advantage. They had many maps created and they had a variety of ships like
larger ships for ocean water and smaller ships for smaller bodies of water to travel on. However, the Spanish did have a large armada and they used
that to their advantage in bringing back more men to colonize the native land. Additionally they had many more explorers to go and find these places
to explore in more depth. The Spanish had much more money going into their process of exploration and finding new land, trade routes and even gold.
The Spanish were better in exploration than the Portuguese because they had more resources which include ships and money and they also took many

Essay about The American Civil War
The United States has been involved in many wars throughout history. Americans have fought and died in many wars such as the war for
independence in World War I to Desert Storm. One of the bloodiest wars in our nation's history is without a doubt is the Civil War. Prior to the
beginning of the Civil War, the country was divided by the issue of slavery. When President Lincoln was elected to office, several states seceded
from the Union. During this war, "Over six hundred thousand men died, and hundreds of thousands more bore the scars of war." (Russell "Civil War."

This battle war technically a draw, but was considered a victory by the Union. This gave President Lincoln the opportunity to issue the
Emancipation Proclamation, which declared all states in rebellion would lose all of their slaves. In the eyes of many, The Emancipation
Proclamation gave the Union a new reason to fight, the freedom of slaves. In the beginning, Union Soldiers did not want African Americas to serve
in the Army. "After the second Confiscation Act, Union generals formed black regiments in New Orleans and on the Sea Island off the coast of
South Carolina and Georgia" (The Enduring Vision 499). Without these black soldiers, President Lincoln believed the War would not last long. "By
the spring of 1865, nearly 200,00 African Americans were serving with the Union."( WK_16 Civil War & Reconstruction PowerPoint slide 6) This
was due to the increase the rising numbers of freed black slaves and the falling numbers of white volunteers. One of the most important battles won by
the Union, was the Battle of Gettysburg, which took place from July 1st to July 3rd 1863. This battle is considered to be the turning point of the war.
During this battle, the South wanted to collect supplies and move battles away from Virginia, which was heavily damaged due to the war. At first, it
seemed the South had the advantage over the Union when Northern troops were driven back to Cemetery Hill. The South

Money And Spirituality
Money & Spirituality – Do They Mix? By Anisa Aven Aug 17, 2007 The hoary argument that you cannot have both– spirituality and abundance –
continues to proliferate and entangle the minds and experience of many seekers. As a culture, we constantly deal with the subconscious remnants
caused by the conflict between money and spirituality. We have allowed toxic ideas to pervade our unlimited essence like a virus destroying our
intrinsic right to wealth and fulfillment. Ideas such as 'money is the root of all evil ', that 'it 's easier to get a camel through the eye of a needle than
for a rich man to get into heaven ', and that 'if you are rich, then you must be either a crook, selfish, or hardened ' abound in the global consciousness
poisoning our natural right to wealth. Additionally, the infamous subconscious impression amongst many spiritual practitioners and seekers, 'you
cannot be spiritual and a servant of the Divine, if you charge for your talent or knowledge ' continues to be the self–imposed prison that forces many
spiritual workers to thrash about in a sea of lack. These are just an infinitesimal sampling of the money–and– spirituality–don 't–mix disease. Indeed, if
one becomes consumed with the pursuit of wealth from the external vantage point, their spiritual unification will be compromised. They may achieve
wealth but at the cost of the fulfillment of their divine destiny and at the expense of personal peace. On the other side, when one pursues

Emancipation from Damaging Early Years
While mental and emotional factors are important, the physical factors are just as key in emancipating yourself from damaging early years.
Negative memories from a childhood in which physical needs were not met can easily influence a future. Children with these memories often go on
to create unhealthy relationships, unattainable goals, or a life with no purpose. Motivation can become more difficult as time goes on due to lack of
results in one's life as well as a lack of true satisfaction. Physical abuse, sexual abuse, neglect, and acts of drug or alcohol abuse in the child's presence
can make a lasting impression in one of two ways. Either the child must make the difficult choice at a young age to rise above such things or they must
continue the cycle of living a life of despair as their parents did before them. Liz's friend Chris chooses the latter, and Liz must leave behind her
friends, her family, and her home for a better life. As seen in these examples, children who witness traumatic situations are forced to grow up and
gain wisdom beyond their years. For those who choose not to live a life like their parents's, the next step is starting on the long journey between a
rough childhood and a triumphant adulthood. In this modern day and age, education is stressed at a very young age. From the first day of
kindergarten, we are taught how to read and write so we can learn bigger and better things. Some preschools offer private daycares for gifted or highly

The Civil War Essay
The Civil War
The name Civil War is misleading because the war was not a class struggle, but a sectional combat, having its roots in political, economic, social, and
psychological elements. It has been characterized, in the words of William H. Seward, as the "irrepressible conflict." In another judgment the Civil
War was viewed as criminally stupid, an unnecessary bloodletting brought on by arrogant extremists and blundering politicians. Both views accept the
fact that in 1861 there existed a situation that, rightly or wrongly, had come to be regarded as insoluble by peaceful means.

Since slavery was unadaptable to much of the territorial lands, which eventually would be admitted as free states, the South became more anxious
about maintaining its position as an equal in the Union. Southerners thus strongly supported the annexation of Texas (certain to be a slave state) and
the Mexican War and even agitated for the annexation of Cuba.
The Compromise of 1850 marked the end of the period that might be called the era of compromise. The deaths in 1852 of Henry Clay and Daniel
Webster left no leader of national stature, but only sectional spokesmen, such as W. H. Seward, Charles Sumner, and Salmon P. Chase in the North and
Jefferson Davis and Robert Toombs in the South. Robert Toombs, for example, stated that "northerners" tried "to fix national degradation upon half the
states of this Confederacy," adding that he is "for disunion." (Congressman Robert Toombs of Georgia, Response on the floor of the House to northern
efforts to keep slavery out of the territories, December 13, 1849) Daniel Webster, from the northern side, supported the Compromise of 1850, criticizing
the "abolition societies": "Their operations of the last twenty years have produced nothing good or valuable, *...* they [with sending incendiary
publications into the slave states] created agitation in the North against Southern slavery." (Daniel Webster, Speech in the Senate supporting the

Quote of the Week:
"Always do your best. What you plant now, you will harvest later." Og Mandino(1923–1996) History Facts of the Day for May 15, 2015:
On May 15, 1602 Bartholomew Gosnold becomes the first recorded European to see Cape Cod.
And in 1618 Johannes Kepler confirms his previously rejected discovery of the third law of planetary motion (he first discovered it on March 8 but
soon rejected the idea after some initial calculations were made).
Also, in 1755 Laredo, Texas is established by the Spaniards.
And in 1776, during the American Revolution, the Virginia Convention instructs its Continental Congress delegation to propose a resolution of
independence from Great Britain, paving the way for the United States Declaration of Independence.
Also, in 1793 Diego MarГn Aguilera flies a glider for "about 360 meters", at a height of 5–6 meters, during one of the first attempted manned flights.
And in 1817 the first private mental health hospital in the United States, the Asylum for the Relief of Persons Deprived of the Use of Their Reason

Why Is Prince Henry The Navigator
"The meeting of two eternities, the past and future....is precisely the present moment." Infante D. Henrique of Portugal, better know as Prince Henry
the Navigator, was born in Portugal in 1394. During his time alive, Henry was a big supporter of multiple sea voyages, mapping the west African
coast along the way. Henry not only encouraged sailors in his homeland, but was also able to spread encouragement to other sea explorers for years to
come. Without Henry the Navigator, Europe would lose one of its key players in the Age of Exploration, stopping Europe's further development for
some time. On March 4, 1394, Prince Henry the Navigator was born to King John I of Portugal and Philippa of Lancaster in Porto, Portugal. Henry
had 11 siblings total, 3 of which were half siblings, and had 3 that died during early childhood. Two of his brothers, Duarte and Pedro, had an interest
in sea exploration, fueling Henry's interest in the subject. Henry always had a high ambition. From an early age, all Henry wanted to do was win a
kingdom for himself, focusing his interest in gathering new lands. Henry was educated the same as his brothers. Their parents kept watchful eyes on
Henry and his brothers during these times. Through his education, Henry came out with a strong like for chivalric romance. ... Show more content on

Henry's childhood, along with two of his brothers, had a large influence on his later actions, providing him with what he needed to accomplish his
goals. With most of Henry's power opportunities taken away, he still found a way to keep working towards his goals, all the while providing Portugal
with much power at the beginning of the Age of Exploration. Without Henry to encourage explorers, Europe would still be afraid to venture past
certain borders they had already set, not knowing there was more to the world they thought they

Different Emotions Of Abraham Lincoln And Julius Caesar
Abraham Lincoln and Julius Caesar are exciting and extremely well known. They both had similar emotions when it came to circumstances. Different
conditions can fuel different feelings and cause a bunch of chaos. Abraham was seen as respectful and honest. However, Julius was seen as a tyrant
who was power hungry. They both were killed by opposing forces however the motives were different. Two influential individuals who were killed for
what they did. What made people despise them? Why were they murdered and what makes them remarkably similar? Julius Caesar was born in Subura,
Rome in 100 BC. He was an innocent little child that did not have any plans for the world. His little mind could not comprehend what he would
soon do to make such an impact. Would he be known for saving millions or would he be known as a crazy fool? He was young and free. Although
when he grew up, it all changed. I am assuming that the death of one's father would make them seek either vengeance or repentance. The emotions
that came off of him must have been dire. Especially since he had to take care of his mother by himself at the age of 16.
What would be best at this age? Marriage? Probably not but the rules of society were different back then. Julius got married at the age of 17. His wife
was the daughter of a powerful politician. Julius was in the middle of a war he could not understand. Although he grew up in that chaotic environment
Julius's mind was still underdeveloped, and he could not

Analysis Of Matthew Mcconauhey Lincoln Commercial

  • 1. Analysis Of Matthew Mcconauhey Lincoln Commercial Matthew McConauhey Lincoln Commercial Lincoln has come out with a series of commercials starring Matthew McConauhey who because of his smooth southern accent can make you feel very comforting in anything that he says. I am going to analyze a Lincoln commercial that is trying to show that they're car is very environmentally friendly but are playing it off like it's a by–product of making a nice car this is not true and through a series of arguments I will show you that. This commercial uses Initially there is a close up shot of Matthew McConauhey's face while he says "It's not about hugging trees, it's not about being wasteful either." This comes as conserving the environment is cool and all but as I fore mentioned it's really only a by–product of our cars. This does not come across in the landscapes around him. As he says this line he is perched on top of a cliff looking over a metropolis just as the sun is rising. This to me represents a new beginning to cars and what is coming up in the future, a new age of clean transportation if you will. At the same keeping the same world that we know and love in the background. As this shot pans around we see the actually city he is looking upon. In the sky of this city it is showing a brown haze potentially from the NO_2 that is commonly in the air around populated cities as it is a component of smog. While he looks into this brown haze he himself if off in the country somewhere gazing upon the city. This shows howLincoln is ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 2. Mean Tweet Persuasive Speech If you haven't heard, President Obama was in Hollywood yesterday. He traveled with his motorcade to Hollywood for a guest appearance on a late night TV show. Fans who were visiting the area got a big surprise that they will never forget. As for the locals, they are still grumbling over the traffic woes. Every time I see the motorcade I just smile in awe. Little American flags on the corners of the cars, police everywhere and patriotic music blaring. OK, technically the music is from my car, but it's a good time to share a patriotic tune when the president drives by. I always wave as it's possible he's looking out the window wondering who is playing their radio way too loud in Los Angeles and I don't want him to think it's the other cars stuck... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Fans were expecting Kevin James and Ray Romano to be perfect pair and that's exactly what happened, except they were overshadowed by the man bun. When Romano reveals the man bun is fake in a very casual way, fans couldn't stop laughing. It didn't stop there, that wad of hair kept coming up as part of the discussion. 'Jimmy Kimmel Live' Mean Tweets: President Obama edition The popular segment on "Jimmy Kimmel Live" of mean tweets might have hit a home run with President Obama on Monday night. The segment of President Obama reading mean tweets had everyone smiling. Check out the video and the last tweet on this segment definitely will have you laughing too (no matter which party you belong too.) Marilu Henner falls hard on "Dancing With the Stars On Monday night fans were shocked as they watched on live TV as Marilu Henner fell on "Dancing With the Stars". Frankly, I was holding my breath after seeing the team dance. The fall looked hard. Obviously this is a competition program, but fans don't want to see a celebrity involved in an injury. That's just no fun! Hopefully she is OK! Another couple went home on Monday's show and fans have a good idea of who might win as the tough competitors aren't making any ... The job variety is endless, and anyone has the potential at becoming a professional in the career of their dreams. I've always known I wanted to go college, and now I know I want to become a nurse anesthetist. Since I was little, I haven't always dreamed of becoming a nurse anesthetist. When I was younger if someone would ask me what I wanted to be when I got older, I would say I wanted to be a singer, a teacher, or a chef, and that answer would change on a regular basis. Even recently now I've changed my future career from being a physical therapist to a psychiatrist to a registered nurse. A registered nurse spends an average day in the hospital assisting and managing patients with medicine, documenting information, and communicating with supervisors, peers, and subordinates. A registered nurse that specializes inanesthesia, which is a nurse anesthetist, will always be doing specific tasks such as: administering anesthesia to patients before and during surgery and they care for and monitor patients before, during, and after surgery. I would love to become a nurse anesthetist, because I want to be able to help care for others and I want to be in an environment where I am helping patients recover and helping with pain. After doing research and asking many questions, I've become dead set on becoming a nurse anesthetist. In the medical field, a ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Around 1497, Vasco da Gama, who was raised near the Atlantic Ocean, was chosen by the King of Portugal to lead an over 24,000 mile expedition, which would establish a direct open water and spice trade route from Portugal to India. Many European countries sent explorers to discover a new sea route to the East Indies, which were abundant with spices and valuable trading items. Vasco da Gama had made many brave accomplishments. On November 22, 1497 he rounded the Cape of Good Hope. Da Gama's first route took him closer to South America, but he had to go out that far to avoid the trouble of the coast. Unexpectedly, the first Portuguese sailors experienced stormy weather, strong winds, and massive currents closer to Africa. Da Gama shortened time of the trip by increasing the miles in order to avoid potential hazardous disasters of the coast. By going so far out from the coast, Vasco's crew sailed the longest voyage, which covered four thousand miles before the winds blew them back to Africa just north of the Cape of Good Hope. After setting sail once again, Vasco went so far west, that he was only six hundred miles away from South America. On November 4th, after ninety–six days in open seas, da Gama reached the Cape of Good Hope in half the time as Dias. Da Gama's stop in Africa, on the second half of his voyage, showed him the real life of the African people. Many were friendly. The differences between them were met with delight, trading, music, and dancing. Although, in the end, the Africans refused to help and destroyed the stone markers (called Padroes) and desecrated sacred crosses, which da Gama left to mark his route and claim territory for Portuguese trading posts. A few days later da Gama stopped in Mossel Bay to leave the supply ship behind, because it wasn't needed any more. After Mossel Bay, da Gama took a stop in Mozambique to recover and trade with the natives as well as build another Padroes. While da Gama was in Mozambique, he saw the most amazing riches from India. In this time period the Europeans circum–navigated Africa, located the territories of the West Indies and basically redrew the map of the world. Therefore as the Italian merchants had to cover their expenses that raised the prices of the goods also. This fact proved economically unacceptable to the other European merchants. The high cost of purchasing these goods made European merchants willing to fund exploration to find an alternate route to the goods of India. The merchants believed that by finding the alternate route they could remove the middle men from the process of obtaining the goods and also as the route would not have to go through any other kingdom the goods would not be subjected to the taxation with increased the price it cost to obtain the goods. Therefore by obtaining the goods at a cheaper price the merchant realized they would gain vastly increased profits. Nations also saw the great benefits controlling such routes would bring to them. This was the principle reason that nations such as Portugal and Spain pursued maritime exploration. The first paragraph of his speech sets the tone, in which Lincoln does not directly mention the bloody Battle of Gettysburg, in which 50,000 soldiers lost their lives. Clearly, Lincoln wants to remind all citizens that these thousands of casualties were for a great purpose of preserving this country, not dividing it through a Civil War. In the third paragraph, President Lincoln stresses the important point that the words of his speech cannot actually bless or make holy the Battlefield of Gettysburg. Rather, he indicates the bravery of the men, both living and dead, has already made the ground of the battlefield sacred. Again, Lincoln is honoring the actions of all the soldiers, Union and Confederate, and trying to unite the nation instead of dividing it. In the last paragraph of the speech, President Lincoln is telling the American people that the proper way to honor the brave soldiers is to dedicate and devote your life to the country, one which there will be, "a new birth of freedom." Frederick Douglass had many achievements throughout his life. His Life as a slave had a great impact on his writings. His great oratory skills left the largest impact on Civil Wartime period literature. All in all he was the best black speaker and writer ever. Douglass was born a slave in 1817, in Maryland. In reply, Douglass wrote Narrative Of The Life Of Frederick Douglass, An American Slave (1845), which he revised in later years: in final form, it appeared in 1882 under the title Life and Times Of Frederick Douglass." (Graves, 52 ) Frederick's oratory skills left the largest impact on Civil War time period literature. Douglass's most significant autobiographical works include: Narrative Of The Life Of Frederick Douglass, An American Slave: My Bondage And My Freedom: and Life And Times Of Frederick Douglass. These three books are about the same person, and share a similar message, but are written by Frederick at different times of his life, looking at the past in different ways. In Narrative Of The Life Of Frederick Douglass, Douglass used a simple, yet educated way to show how he felt as a slave growing up in Maryland. He describes in the Narrative "I have often been so pinched with hunger as to dispute with old "Nep," the dog, for the crumbs which fell from the kitchen table." (Douglass, 34) Douglass's Narrative was known as being a brief, descriptive (like his statement in the above lines), and easy to read piece of literature. It showed the hardships of slavery as seen by a real slave. "I remember thinking that God was angry with the white people because of their slave holding wickedness, and therefore his judgments were abroad in the land" (Douglass, 89) Douglass became educated through his own means. Loewen High school history textbooks are seen, by students, as presenting the last word on American History. Rarely, if ever, do they question what their text tells them about our collective past. According to James W. Loewen's Lies My Teacher Told Me, they should be. Loewen has spent considerable time and effort reviewing history texts that were written for high school students. In Lies, he has reviewed twenty texts and has compared them to the actual history. Sadly, not one text measures up to the author's expectation of teaching students to think. According to Loewen they got his name right, and not much else. Lies points out that there were many groups of explorers that had "discovered" America before Columbus. He probably used some of their information as a basis for his plans to sail west. A full eight pages are devoted to other possible explorers. These groups include ancient groups from Indonesia, Japan, China, and Phoenicia. More recent groups include the Vikings, British Islanders, West Africans, and Portuguese fishermen. There are varying levels of evidence connecting these groups to pre–Columbian America, but still enough to throw doubt into the mix. Columbus got the credit because of the way in which Europe responded to his "discovery." Other false ideas taught about Columbus deal with what is left out. His original motivation may have been to find another trade route to the Orient, but his real motivation, in subsequent expeditions to America, was money. By 1493 Columbus had planned to plunder Haiti, according to Michele de Cuneo, who had been on Columbus's first voyage. This novel tells the story of Antonia Shimerda, a Bohemian immigrant in Nebraska in the late 1800s. Although My Antonia is fictional, it is based on Willa Cather's youth in Nebraska. As Jim Burden did in the book, Willa Cather moved from Virginia to Nebraska as a child to live with her grandparents. The town of Black Hawk symbolized Red Cloud in Cather's youth. Willa Cather also attended the University of Nebraska at Lincoln. Jim Burden moved from Virginia to Nebraska to live with his grandparents after his parents died. He traveled with Jake Marpole, one of the farm hands that worked for Jim's dad. Jake was now going west to work for Jim's grandfather. On the train ride to his grandparents' farm he finds out that an immigrant family from Bohemia was traveling to the same area. After he arrived at his grandparents' farm, Jim met the Shimerdas. The Shimeradas' were the Bohemian family he had heard about on the train. They were his neighbors. The family consisted of Mr. and Mrs. Shimerda and their children Ambrosch, Antonia, Marek, and Yulka. Mr. Shimerda was homesick for Bohemia, but Mrs. Shimerda made them move to America. Ambrosch was the mean oldest son. Antonia, only four years older than Jim, was smart and kind hearted. Marek was the younger Shimerda son with physical and mental deficiencies. Taney drew this conclusion from an examination of historical practices and the intent of the Framers of the Constitution. In 1860, South Carolina declared their causes of secession. South Carolina was the first state to secede, and their main reason was that their powers were restrained by the federal government. The Proclamation was a very important document in that it guaranteed the future freedom of all American slaves. Though the Proclomation was to have an important impact it initially failed and didn't change the position of a single slave in the south. The south did not consider itself part of the Union and pushed them to fight even harder to protect their so–called "property". Though Lincoln knew that this would anger the south even more, he issued it at a time when he believed that the Union was on the verge of winning and that the south would have to give in to a slave–less existance. In 1866, the Fourteenth Amendment was passed, which gave the blacks their freedom. Senator Lot Morrill addresses this amendment as a revolution, because that one amendment alone revolutionized the system based on black servitude. The two countries that were notorious in exploration during the Renaissance were Portugal and Spain. The Portuguese and Spanish were rivals in exploration. They were always competing with each other over who was better. Spanish exploration was more effective than Portuguese exploration because the Spanish went to land unexplored, colonised and made more voyages than the Portuguese. "After the second Confiscation Act, Union generals formed black regiments in New Orleans and on the Sea Island off the coast of South Carolina and Georgia" (The Enduring Vision 499). Without these black soldiers, President Lincoln believed the War would not last long. By Anisa Aven Aug 17, 2007 The hoary argument that you cannot have both– spirituality and abundance – continues to proliferate and entangle the minds and experience of many seekers. As a culture, we constantly deal with the subconscious remnants caused by the conflict between money and spirituality. We have allowed toxic ideas to pervade our unlimited essence like a virus destroying our intrinsic right to wealth and fulfillment. Ideas such as 'money is the root of all evil ', that 'it 's easier to get a camel through the eye of a needle than for a rich man to get into heaven ', and that 'if you are rich, then you must be either a crook, selfish, or hardened ' abound in the global consciousness poisoning our natural right to wealth. Additionally, the infamous subconscious impression amongst many spiritual practitioners and seekers, 'you cannot be spiritual and a servant of the Divine, if you charge for your talent or knowledge ' continues to be the self–imposed prison that forces many spiritual workers to thrash about in a sea of lack. These are just an infinitesimal sampling of the money–and– spirituality–don 't–mix disease. Negative memories from a childhood in which physical needs were not met can easily influence a future. Children with these memories often go on to create unhealthy relationships, unattainable goals, or a life with no purpose. Motivation can become more difficult as time goes on due to lack of results in one's life as well as a lack of true satisfaction. Physical abuse, sexual abuse, neglect, and acts of drug or alcohol abuse in the child's presence can make a lasting impression in one of two ways. Either the child must make the difficult choice at a young age to rise above such things or they must continue the cycle of living a life of despair as their parents did before them. Liz's friend Chris chooses the latter, and Liz must leave behind her friends, her family, and her home for a better life. As seen in these examples, children who witness traumatic situations are forced to grow up and gain wisdom beyond their years. For those who choose not to live a life like their parents's, the next step is starting on the long journey between a rough childhood and a triumphant adulthood.
