Human resources function worldwide shows particular strengths in crucial
issues such as talent recruitment and talent management. However, there
still appears to be room for improvement, especially with respect to
measuring HR KPIs as a solid foundation for decision-making and in relation
to diversity and inclusion, according to the latest Michael Page Global HR
Barometer.The survey, which focuses on identifying the key priorities for HR
and considers its new strategic role, is based on data collected from more
than 2,500 HR managers (including 84 from India) in 65 countries across the
globe.
The survey shows 66% of Indian HR leaders expect their workforce to
increase over the next 12 months compared with 48% globally. About 45% of
organisations in India have increased their recruitment budget versus 27%
globally.

The top priorities in India are talent management (51% in India versus 33% globally)
and talent acquisition recruitment (45% in India versus 32% globally), but globally,
talent management and training & development top the list.
To a survey question on whether “Diversity and Inclusion are just buzzwords or
essential for business success?“ only 12% of organisations list them as a priority.
About 76% of Indian HR leaders in senior management directly report to the CEO
CFO chairman or woman general director managing director.
The survey also shows that HR leader's influence is becoming increasingly strategic.
It shows that Indian HR's scope of responsibilities include talent acquisition
recruitment (91% versus 86% globally), talent management (89% versus 78%
globally), employee retention (89% versus 75% globally), performance
management (89% versus 79% globally), HR policies (81% versus 83% globally) and
employee relations (79% versus 81% globally).

Globally, 80% of HR leaders have strategically significant responsibilities
(e.g. talent management) and 60% reported payrollstaff administration
within their scope of responsibility. It also shows that majority of HR
leaders have accumulated a wealth of knowledge and experience,
having worked in HR for 15 years or more.
Another important finding of the survey reflects that technology is a
battleground for talent, with 39% of companies globally planning to
expand their workforce (26% across all industries).The survey also
shows that HR staffing levels are set to remain constant in 70% of
organisations globally; 12% even forecast a decrease.
