The Benefits of Doing Exercise
Have you ever wondered why you cannot last more than 3 minutes playing with your 10
year old son, or why you surrender before even trying to catch the bus? Do you wonder why you
have a cold every two weeks? Meanwhile there is a group of people who do not suffer from these
types of issues because they do exercise. As a result of doing exercise a person can experience
multiple advantageous effects, such as: relax their whole self, enhance health condition and
increase consciousness on how to treat one’s body.
A person that does exercise has a more relaxed life. While some struggle to sleep, you
can easily fall sleep because your muscles are rigid and your body needs to replenish both energy
and muscles to its normal state provoking a deep sleep (“The Fantastic Advances of exercise”).
Also someone who exercises can easily overcome stress because his/her attention is focused on
the physical activity; otherwise he knows that he/she won’t be able to achieve the 100% in the
exercise. Moreover exercise induces a euphoric state, causing a lifted mood and a smiley face,
thus releasing endorphins (Mayo clinic staff).
Exercise provides a better health condition for those who engage in it. By exercising
regularly, you improve the immune system, pumping the lymph fluid. As a consequence you
experience decreased rate of illness like the flue, high blood pressure and even osteoporosis to
name a few, due to the training applied to the bones and increased blood circulation as we push
our bodies, the heat produced accelerate the rate in which the heart pumps the blood. But do not
train to fatigue or you will be injuring instead of helping your immune system (“The Fantastic
2. Advances of exercise”). There is also obesity, a serious disease that is not accepted as a
dangerous illness by most of the fat population. Exercise helps the body to burn fat faster by
sweating and eliminating excess fat.
Through exercise you can raise consciousness about how to treat your body. Just as
people that play chess search for new moves; athletes search to maintain the body, therefore, you
can protect your body according to the type of exercise you practice. Some of such information
regards how to warm up, what type of food one should eat, how many hours of sleep one should
use up and when to stop the exercise. Because that influences the degree of benefits he will be
achieving, if he does not sleep well he would not have the proper energy to exercise, and that can
cause fatigue and frustration. If he carelessly eats whatever he finds, like junk food, or
sometimes he skip meals, assuming that he wants to lose weight, he won’t, cause he is not going
through a proper diet nor maintain his muscles considering that he is not consuming the
carbohydrates needed to do so. Also when we feel pain during exercise, that is an indication to
stop (Anderson, Dean). Sometimes we think we can engage in any class of sport without
warming up first or risky (stupid) actions just like jumping roofs and stuff. A person that exercise
knows what can happen if he tries those “games”, concluding because he/she knows that these
actions could damage one’s body.
Exercise is a tool we use for the purpose of crafting our own bodies to improve our
physical abilities, and to reinforce the immune system protecting us better against diseases.
Exercise also helps us to create a tranquil state of mind and reduce our day-to-day stress, thus
assuring a happier life. Last but not least, exercise instills a suitable discipline conduct in our
lives. At the end, the human body is the most magnificent creation above and below the earth,
but only we decide, by doing exercise, if we are going to reach its optimal physical state.
