SSH (Secure Shell) was developed in 1995 by Tatu Ylönen as a secure protocol for conducting remote communication over a network. It encrypts data transmitted over the network, allowing for secure remote login, file transfer, command execution, and port forwarding. SSH is a specification, not a product, that uses keys, agents, and access control to securely transmit data.
