Assignment #2 has now been uploaded! The assignment covers the
topic Product Costing and has two parts – Part (a) Job Costing and
Part (b) Process Costing. In view of the weak performances of
some persons on the Graded Quiz, I am suggesting that some
quality time be spent on this assignment, which accounts for
10% of your final score.
This assignment becomes due on Friday, April 5th, 2013. The
assignment should be submitted by 3:30pm EC Time on that date
(or any date of your choice, prior to April 5th, 2013), so that students who may encounter
difficulties while submitting may access the assistance of the support staff at their local site and
if needs be the Help Desk.
In order to minimize possible technical glitches, you are encouraged to:
Download and use the Mozilla Firefox browser [exclusively] for working in the Learning
Exchange as the Internet Explorer browser can sometimes prove to be unreliable
Post your assignment a day or two before the due date and revisit the assignment portal
to check if the file you attempted to upload is there. Do not wait until the grades for the
assignments are returned to report that you uploaded an assignment but you are seeing
a score of “0” or a comment that no assignment was submitted.
You have two weeks in which to complete this task, so DO NOT RUSH THE
ASSIGNMENT! Please make an effort to do the assignment on your own, as you will be
examined on this later in the semester. Seeking to circumvent the system can land you into
serious problems. Bear in mind point 4 from your Accountability Statement which states, “I
certify that this is my own work and that I did not receive any unfair assistance from others
(including unauthorized collaboration) in its preparation.”
Please note that this assignment is not the same as Assignment #2 from a previous semester.
Before doing the assignment, make sure to go through the Course Material relating to the topic,
covered over weeks 6-9. The worked examples provided in the Course Material provided should
be quite useful. I am hoping to host a BbC session next week, so that we can go through the topic
Process Costing.
You will be furnished with a word template to assist you in presenting the answer for some parts
of the assignment. The template will be drawn up in cells; each cell is intended to
house one figure. If you are not sure about how to use the template, you can seek assistance
from your colleagues who may be more familiar with the software or use the alternative mode of
presentation, excel. Do a hard copy or at least a print preview of your work before submitting it
for grading, to ensure that the final product is as you intended.
