1. Title of Presentation:Evaluation of UK Government Led Prevent Programme, Processes to Radicalisation in Local Communities in UK and Trans-National Networks Connections Prepared & Presented By OwaisRajput
2. Sub-Title: One Local Community Too Many Labels Islamist Home-Grown Radicalised Home-Grown Terrorist Counter-Terror Measures
3. OBJECTIVE OF THE STUDY To evaluate the prevent programme within the contest of UK’s effort at Global Counter Terrorism. Prevent Program and Locality issue in UK. Issue of UK Home-Grown Radicalisation . Processes to Radicalisation. Social and Political Processes leads towards to Home-Grown Radicalisation and on later stage towards to Terrorism.
4. METHODOLOGY: I could consider a ‘live’ study which summarises an areas historical approach to Prevent and examines the transition period between the old and new strategy . Another approach would be to concentrate on a study of individuals that have received contact from so called ‘de radicalisation’ initiatives-the questions being whether their attitudes or behaviour has changed since the intervention.
5. UK Government Led Prevent Programme So Far Government led Prevent Programme as a measure and a tool for counter-terrorism. Drawbacks and failings as it has been high lighted it has been counter-effective. Effective in foiling the terrorist plots after 7/7. Unable to identify the socio-economic causes that could trigger the planning of terrorist attacks in UK carried out by its own citizens. Ineffective as it doesn’t tackle all the issues.
6. Findings so far This researcher strongly believes all the stake holders on board need to set up an Islamic institution (university) using historical literature (Quran + Sunnah + Hadees) to represent all the schools of thought / jurisprudence. This will provide an initiative for the Young British Muslims (European Muslims) to educate them in a Non-Muslim country obeying the ruling British Law / European Law and being law abiding citizens. This will also give Young British Muslims (European Muslims) a real understanding of their faith which is not delivered by someone so called “imported Imams” from a foreign country. It will be a good opportunity for Non-Muslims living in UK & Europe to develop their understanding of the different schools of thoughts in Islam.
