Edvard Munch was a Norwegian artist born in 1863 who lived until 1944. He had a difficult childhood as his mother and sister suffered from tuberculosis. As an adult, he participated in exhibitions in Oslo and Paris. Some of his most famous paintings include The Scream, which depicted a figure with an agonized expression against a landscape with unusual colors. He sought to create highly emotional works like those of Leonardo Da Vinci. His paintings often featured unusual color palettes with blues, yellows, reds and blacks to convey moods and feelings.
