7. Personal interviews
Some migrants from different countries came to our school
and explained to us how their lives have changed.
They are helped by the CEPAIM (an Association that helps
migrants in Spain) where they gave them the basic things
they need.
9. Gerson is from Caracas. He is 40 years old.
He travelled by plane from Venezuela to Madrid.
He’s been in Spain for 1 year and a half. He came alone.
He asked for asylum and he has to wait for an answer. If the
government says yes, he can stay, if they say no, he has to
leave our country.
Reason to leave Venezuela: Persecution because of his
political ideas.
11. Diana, Ibrahim and Mustafa are three siblings from Aleppo, Syria.
They’re 21, 20 and 19 years old.
They travelled from Syria to Turkey and stayed in a refugee camp for
2 years and finally they were relocated in Spain (Zaragoza). All the
family came together (8 members)
They have been in Zaragoza for 3 months but they can only stay here
for 2 years.
Reason to leave their country: The civil war in Syria.
They would like to go back to Aleppo if the war ends.
13. Amin and Gali are from Oran, Algeria.
They are 20 and 25 years old.
They travelled on a small dinghy boat from Oran
to Alicante (east coast of Spain). It took them 24-36 hours.
They had to pay 500 € to take the boat. It was a difficult journey,
the boat stopped in the middle of the sea and it was dark.
They have been in Spain for 3 months. They came alone.
Reason to leave their country: Different opinions, lack of human
rights in their country and economy problems. They came looking
for better life conditions. They are irregular migrants. They would
like to go to France (they’ve got family there.)
