2. Week One – 10th November to 14th November
• Monday 10th November: Today was our first group meeting (minus Mollie) and we looked at all
our individual film pitches and decided that the basic idea of Max's would be the best one for us
to go for. We made a list of pros and cons for each and started planning the general storyline.
• Tuesday 11th November:We presented our group film pitch to the class and we got our
feedback. We decided in our group our individual responsibilities.
•
Wednesday 12th November: Today we looked at similar film openings to the type of film we are
aiming to make. I mainly looked at the Film 4 film Shallow Grave as it really fascinated me for
some reason. I showed this to the rest of the group.
• Thursday 13th November:We made a timeline of a film opening, looking at shots and focusing
on the titles. I looked at Shallow Grave and we decided that we wanted to change our genre from
a dark, psychological drama to a dark comedy.
• Friday 14th November: Today was more of an individual-based lesson and we looked at title
sequences and had to look at the order of them and how each one was on for. This is very helpful
and will help us out massively when it comes to making our own titles. I looked at Forrest Gump
but also watched an interview with a famous title-creator, Richard Morrison and from this I learnt
that you shouldn't over-complicate an idea at the beginning.
3. Week Two – 17th November to 21st November
• Monday 17th November: This was our fourth official group meeting and when we really started to plan. We
created our shot list and divided the other research jobs between us. We managed to complete the shot list
within this lesson which meant that we are now able to get on with starting our other tasks.
• Tuesday 18th November: Today me and Max started the script and came up with names (Zabel and Zac) for
our characters as they both mean crazy or insane. We also came up with our official name for our film:
Parallel. Mollie worked on the audience research and Marcus on institutions. We also managed to start our
storyboard.
• Wednesday 19th November: This was our sixth group meeting and today Max and I continued to work on
the script and storyboard. Mollie and Marcus worked individually on other various aspects of our planning.
• Thursday 20th November: We didn’t have a media lesson today but Max and I had a meeting during our
study period where we finished our script and he started to do the final part of the storyboard. Tomorrow
we plan on recording the dialogue to put over our storyboard in order to upload it onto our blog. This will
allow us to start filming as soon as possible as we need a lot of time to edit our sequence.
• Friday 21st November: Today we worked individually on our blogs but me and Max came together during our
study period and finished the storyboard.
4. Week Three – 24th November to 29th November
• Monday 24th November: We had another group meeting today to film our
storyboard. I also made a shooting schedule and risk assessment.
• Tuesday 25th November: Today we were working individually on our blogs
making sure everything is on there that should be. We start filming on
Friday.
• Wednesday 26th November: This was another individual lesson as most of
the things that need to be done before filming as a group are done.
• Friday 29th November: Today we were making sure everything was ready
for us to film later that afternoon. We left school at 1:30 and went to our
filming location and did around half of the shots. Everything went really
well and the weather was nice.
5. Week Four – 1st December to 5th December
• Monday 1st December: We filmed for the second time and finished all our
shooting. We thought it might rain but it didn’t and all the shots went well.
We decided to change the last shot at a bus stop to outside a house with
the same sort of effect of Zabel being left and fades away.
• Tuesday 2nd December: Today we started editing our opening sequence
and managed to do one of the cloning shots which was cool. It took a while
to upload the footage so we didn’t get that much done.
• Wednesday 3rd December: I was trying to create a poster for our film but it
was quite difficult as I didn’t have any footage on me.
• Friday 5th December: Today was our deadline for our first draft. We have
spent the lesson evaluating it, one thing we need to improve is our titles.
Marcus and Mollie worked on the film poster.
6. Week Five – 8th December to 12th December
• Monday 8th December: We started to make improvements on our
film including the titles and cutting out the wobbly shots.
• Tuesday 9th December: I continued editing the titles, finding the right
font was something I found particularly hard.
• Wednesday 10th December: Today we focused on finding the right
music as this is perhaps one of the most challenging parts of the
whole task. Eventually we managed to decide on the right track.
• Thursday 11th December: I was playing around with the titles and
music. It is finally starting to look how we wanted it to.
• Friday 12th December: We completed the final draft of our sequence.
