Once there lived a Leopard who was very
proud of his beautiful spotted fur.
Everyday, the leopard would boast about
his beautiful looks.
“Hmmm…I am indeed lucky to have such
a beautiful body unlike other animals,” he
flattered himself.
5. 5
Whenever he
passed the other
animals, the
Leopard would lift
his chest and
show off his
attractive body.
Whenever the other animals
came close to him, the
Leopard would say, “Don’t
come near me. You have a
dirty and ugly body and you
are not fit to be my friend!”
6. 6
The rest of the animals in the forest were
upset at the unkind words of the Leopard.
“The Leopard should not behave like
this… as though he is the most beautiful
animal in this jungle. There are many of us
who are more beautiful than him,” said the
monkey in disgust.
“It is not nice to talk like that, Monkey. We
should have a talk with the Leopard and
advise him instead. God does not like us to
look down on others,” advised the Mouse
Deer in reply to the Monkey.
“My friends, let me talk to the Leopard
and advise him not to be proud. I will tell
him to befriend all the animals in the
jungle,” volunteered the Wolf.
7. 7
The Wolf followed the Leopard. The
Leopard stopped and looked back as he
realized someone was following him.
“Hah! It is you, Wolf…What do you want?
You look ugly and dirty. You are not
suitable to be my friend. Go away before I
hurt you,” warned the Leopard. The Wolf
did not move and the Leopard ignored him
and moved away.

The Wolf kept following the Leopard.
The Leopard by then grew angrier.
“Why are you following me? What do
you want?” the Leopard shouted
at the Wolf.
“Actually I am a friend of all the animals
in the forest. Why don’t you be my
friend too?” asked the Wolf gently.
“I am more beautiful than all of you,
even more handsome than the Lion.
Why don’t you all make me your King?”
asked the Leopard haughtily. He jumped
onto the branch of a tree to lie down.
“Ha! Ha! Ha!” the Wolf laughed loudly.
9. 9
“If you want to be King you must be
strong and smart, not proud. You must
set a good example for the other
animals to follow. It does not depend on
how attractive you look!
Ha! Ha! Ha!” laughed the Wolf again.
The angry Leopard
sprang at the Wolf.
Luckily, the Wolf escaped
from his nasty clutches.
But the Leopard was not
so lucky. He fell into a
huge hole in the ground
under the tree. He tried to
jump out of the hole but
could not.
10. 10
“Wolf…please get me out of this
hole. I promise I will not attack
you,” the Leopard begged.
“Why should I help you? Why don’t
you use your beautiful body?”
asked the Wolf.
“Oh, I am truly sorry, Wolf. I was
wrong for being so proud. Please
ask the other animals to come and
help me. Tell them I am sorry,” said
the Leopard.
“Alright, Leopard. I will ask the other
animals to help you but you must promise
to be friends with all of us,”
said the Wolf.
“Yes Wolf, I promise,” said the Leopard.
11. 11
When the Leopard agreed to
change, the jungle friends got
together to help bring the Leopard
out of the hole.
12. 12
Soon the Leopard was rescued from the hole.
The Leopard realized his good looks would
not save him in times of trouble. He became
friends with all the animals in the forest.
