Essay Growing Up
When I Grow Up..
"Being 'grown up' isn't as fun as the idea of growing up."
–AmberGrace Seguin
Remember when we were young and all we could think of was growing up and getting to do
'grownup' things? We spent our whole childhood thinking of what we would do when we finally
'grew up', and here we are, almost completely grown up and we still haven't made up our mind of
what it is we will do when we grow up. We've painted this pretty little picture in our head of what
it'll be like when we eventually do grow up, and when it finally comes for the picture to be taken off
the wall and put into action, it's not nearly as fun as creating the painting.

"The day the child realizes that all adults are imperfect, he becomes an adolescent; the day he
forgives them, he becomes an adult; the day he forgives himself, he becomes wise." –Alden Nowlan
As we continue to grow up, we learn that being grown up is not as we imagined it. We once
convinced ourselves that growing up was the goal to achieve, and life would be much better once
we were in fact grown up. When we in fact do grow up, we think back at our youth and laugh
because we thought growing up was the most wondrous thing to accomplish, but now, more than
ever, we crave for our youth; for the days we would sit in the grass and daydream of what we are to
become when we grow up; and finally for the days when life was simple and we could imagine it
any which way we wanted it and no one could do a thing about it.
"A grownup is a child with layers on." –Woody

Essay on History of Childhood
Childhood is usually understood as a set of experiences and behaviours, gained in the early stages
of the human existence, considered as the preparation for the adult world. However, the history of
childhood is a very complex topic and it has become a very influential area of study in recent
years. In 1962, the 'Centuries of Childhood' by Philippe AriГ©s introduced the idea that childhood
was a new creation developed in recent centuries and as a concept it was believed to be nonexistent
before the seventeenth century. This concept means that there was no awareness of the process of
childhood. In several studies of the medieval period, AriГ©s noticed that childhood was not
acknowledged or even attempted to be portrayed during this period. For...show more content...
He believes that it is at that age that reason starts to develop until finally the child becomes an
adult. In 'Emile' Rousseau emphasises that nature wants children to take advantage of being
children before being adults and there is a period of acquiring knowledge before living in the real
world. A theory of innocence of the child emerged giving a need to protect children from the harsh
reality of the adult world. Childhood has its own ways of seeing, thinking, and feeling which are
proper to it/ child's mind considered as a blank state to be inscribed by experience: the infant is often
compared to a 'white paper' to be written over or to a plastic substance (wax) to be molded According
to Alan Richardson, childhood gained a central position through Romantic Literature, due to its
artistic and reinvigorating movement during the eighteenth century. The supreme faculty of mind is
reason by stressing strong emotions and imagination, which is the key reason to the shaping of
creative power. Childhood acquired a sense of spirituality attached to its phenomenon; it became
increasingly valued by adults, since children represented hope and progress within society.
Childhood therefore became the supreme symbol of celebrating the cult of nature, the purity of the
mind

CU1520 – Promote Child and Young Person Development
1.1 – Explain the factors that need to be taken into account when assessing development
Confidentiality – it is important when assessing a child that you have permission from parents or
carers to have written records of their child. Most parents will be happy for you to have written
observations of their child but will not want these to be seen by other parents; therefore we should
not leave notepads lying around for others to see. It is also important to remember that we should
only discuss children's progress with colleagues, parents and other professionals who may need to
know.
Children's wishes and feelings – there may be certain times where children feel upset and/or
uncomfortable...show more content...
Filming/photographs – this can be useful to look over and over and catch things you may have
missed the first time, it can also cover several areas. You need to obtain permission for parents of all
children in the video.
Sound recordings – this can be useful to record children's speech and language development and
with a various number of recordings you can easily monitor progress.
Information from parents and colleagues – parents and colleagues may see children in different
situations therefore it is really useful to get information from them. This can be in the form of
questionnaires, face to face conversations, structured interviews and informal chats.
4.1. – Explain how own working practice can affect children and young people's development
You need to consider how you are positively affecting a child's life and experiences. You need to
look at your relationships with staff their attitudes and values and consider whether these allow the
child's needs to come first.
Checklist:
* Adults need to be aware of the development needs of the child * You have the right systems to
ensure that everyone gets the information that they need to work effectively with the child * Make
sure activities are planned specifically to support child development * There is a balance if activities
to engage interest * Balance between adult and child initiated

Essay about Childhood
Childhood is present in every adult. The immaturity, the innocence, the naivety, the thirst for
approval, is craved in everyone around you. Memories of childhood can be represented in many
ways: a blanket, stuffed animal, rattle, song, or maybe even a movie. We can cling to these
things for support in times of need, or just to recall fond memories of a simpler, and in most cases
happier time. As our lives change around us, and we change to adapt to our lives we recall these
items. We return to them for comfort, or we pass them to others who need them. These images can
help us deal with something unbearable; they can be our "ship in the storm". They can help us
remember loved ones, or they can remind us of the good in someone who has...show more content...
My aunt Mickey is pretending to be the Wicked Witch, and my mom is pretending to be Glinda. My
cousin Craig was the cowardly lion, and my Dad was the wizard and the tin man. My Grandma was
Toto, and my cousin Sharon was the munchkins. Dana, my cousin, was the scarecrow. I was
skipping around the house singing, and they were all playing their parts. I stood up to the wicked
witch, rescued the scarecrow, comforted the cowardly lion, and tapped my heels three times to go
home. As the only young child in my family at the time I was babied, and the center of attention.
The reason this video is so important to me is because of what it represents; my family when it
was whole. In the recent years my aunt Mickey has been diagnosed with Alzheimers and she no
longer remembers me. My cousin Sharon died from lymphoma, and my Grandmother passed
away. My cousin Dana was diagnosed with cancer and lost a large part of her arm, but due to a
family argument I haven't talked to Craig or Dana in almost two years. There are new children, and
new marriages that I don't hear about until months after. I no longer know these people, I only know
my memories of them.
My family is no longer together, and is no longer happy. As the most vital parts of our family
passed away, the rest of us grew apart. Disagreements and selfishness affected the relationships in
ways none of us could have

What Is My Childhood Essay
Some people reminisce the past, live in the present, and dream for the future. My childhood is
something to look back at. Some things could have been better, but for the most part they were
exceptionally good. I truly wish I continue to focus on the good parts of my childhood. The
teenage years are what the majority of people say to run from, but I say that you can learn from
all the mistakes you made, and will continue to make. Although, I'm still in this stage of my life,
there are things I can already say that I will remember until the day I die. As for the prime of my life
there are only expectations and dreams of what I will or who I will become. I do have high
expectations for myself and goals I plan on accomplishing, I can say where I see myself, but I will
never truly know.
My childhood, the topic of not caring what people thought and how they looked at you. I was so
outgoing in this stage I remember one time in elementary school when I talked to my crush. We
were in the gym, and the whole school was doing our last big event before the end of the year. As
we were sitting together he reached over, and said that he wasn't going to be in this school next year.

I want to make a difference and help people accomplish their goals and strive with my own. I want
to be happy with my decisions, I plan on opening a business or becoming a cosmetologist and maybe
even both. My future is a big deal to me and it matters if I succeed. Overall, I strive to complete both
my short–term and long–term goals. I see myself owning a business and having money that I can
properly manage I would like to be exceptionally good with money. I find hair, makeup and nails
interesting and want to pursue a life in style, but I do have other dreams I just don't know what
direction their pointed. I believe that as long as I am on a path destiny will take me where I need to

My Childhood Essay
In addition, I have never forgotten my singular neighborhood which saw me when I was born, my
first steps, my first words and so on. Hence, I had been living there for almost twenty years.
There, I grew up with my family and unique neighbors who sharing unforgettable memories. My
neighborhood was placed next to the principal port of my country, so everybody could get the
most fresh fish and seafood at markets. Close to my house living people who had jobs in the port
such as fish man, merchant marine, and captains. I remember that the community formed groups in
order to gather money for any purpose. For example, the soccer field of my neighbor was old and
careless. We made many activities as bingo, garage sale, and food sale. After long...show more

February is the hottest month of the year in my country, so since children to adults play this kind of
comic game outside homes watching who is "dry" and get "wet.
Finally, my first school during the elementary was one of the most important in my life. There, I met
many friends whom I still keep their friendship. I was six years old when I went at this female school,
so all of my friends were woman. Every class, I used to go late because my parents would work the
entire day every day; therefore, my grandmother after cook, she got to take me to at school. One
day when I was going to my school on bus, I saw in the same bus a black long hair girl also with her
grandmother and I remembered have seen her in my classroom. That day, after finishing the
class, I started to talk with that girl called "Vanessa". Coincidently, after a long talking, we
realized living close to each other. Therefore, I used to go her home to do homework or play
chequers. Sometimes, I came home from school with Vanessa and her grandmother when my
grandmother could not. Vanessa and I sang popular songs or telling jokes on the back way home.
As I met Vanessa, I talked with Sara, Giuliana and Emily also. We are five– girls, so we sat together
everyday that my parents talked with their parents, and if some of us were absent in the school, one
of the parents called to tell them the homework of the day. They were my first

Childhood Transition Essay
Throughout life, I have faced many events that have helped my transition from childhood to
adulthood. Some of these events have been small, while others have affected this transition more.
The event that has made the biggest impact on my transition from childhood to adulthood occurred
two years ago. In August of 2014, my mother was diagnosed with breast cancer, which was the
worst thing to hear as a fourteen year old going into tenth grade. Being a student athlete and a hard
working student in the classroom I knew what adversity felt like but nothing compared to this
feeling though. Also, the fact that I am in accelerated classes, and one of a few in my grade that are
in Project Lead The Way (PLTW) out of Rochester Institute of Technology (R.I.T.)
