Avoiding Burnout for Your and Your Team: Brilliant marketing and super technology are great, but your program will never achieve its potential if your people are depressed and exhausted. Shatterproof’s Nancy Palo leads us in exploring how we can create better and more effective workplaces — and take better care of ourselves in the process!

4. MY STORY
During my most
challenging year of my
career, I went to the beach
on the morning of my 39th
birthday and made a
commitment to make
myself a priority for the
next year. It was the best
decision of my life.
5. SOME OF THE RESULTS DURING
MY YEAR OF ME
• I am healthier than I have ever been
• We reduced our # of P2P events from 22 to 8
• I am happier than I have ever been
• Our P2P net revenue increased 180%
• I went on four international vacations
• We reduced staff turnover
• I sleep more than 8 hours a night on average
• We are projected to more than double our
P2P revenue in 2017
6. A YEAR LATER…
I celebrated my 40th
birthday by learning to
surf, a personal goal I had
been putting off because I
was afraid to fail. I fell a
lot that day. I also caught
a wave standing up.
My year of me is now a
way of life.

goals with others to

yourself

one for work and
one for personal

done tomorrow and

list
There were a lot of conversations about guilt. This
is a bigger conversation that we look forward to
continuing.
14. MY FAVORITE QUOTES
• “Let Yourself Stop Working”
– If you give a 110% to your mission during the day, it
is OK to stop working at the of it.
• “Why do our constituents get the best
version of ourselves”
– We need to treat ourselves and our families the same
way we treat our supporters.
