Magnetism
 Magnetism is force
 A field- is place where a force works.
 Magnetism is a force that pushes or pulls.
 Magnetism force works because of the movement of electrons in
atoms.
 Permanent magnets works all the time.
 Electromagnets attack metals only when an electric current is
switched on.
 The magnet field starts at the north pole and ends the south
pole.
 Non- metals do not stick to magnets.
 Electromagnets are made of as oft iron core wrapped in wire
carrying electric current
Recycling scrap metals
 Reduce : is to make something smaller less
 Reuse is to something again to do the same thing or
something different.
 Recycle is to do something to materials so they can
be used again.
 Repurposed is to use a product or material for anew
reason
 Sustainability is using natural products and energy
in a way that does not harm the environment.
Simple electric circuits
 A moving electrical charge is called a current or an electrical
impulse.
 Materials that allow electricity to pass through are called
conductor.
 Materials that electricity cannot pass through are called
insulator.
 System diagrams help us to understand how circuit work.
 Component symbol are used when drawing circuit diagrams.
 Current movement of charge is an electrical conductor.
Cranks and pulleys
 Mechanisms can turn one kind of force into another
kind and give mechanical advantage .
 Crank is a right angled part of an axle or shaft that
converts rotary motion into other types of motion.
 Pulley are free-turning wheels with a groove that are
used to help lift weights.
 Some parts of structures resist pushing forces
(compression)
 Some parts of structures resist pulling forces (tension)
