Red kangaroos are found throughout inland Australia and occupy open shrublands, grasslands, and desert habitats. Males are typically red in color while females are bluish gray. They can range in height from 74-140cm and weigh between 18-90kg. Red kangaroos feed at night on grasses and sometimes drink water, but can obtain sufficient moisture from their food. They live in large mobs of dozens to hundreds of individuals led by a dominant male.
2. DE SC RIPTION
• There are different in the colouring of the red kangaroo. Males are
usually red and females a bluish grey.
• The weight of a red kangaroo ranges from 18kg up to 90 kilograms.
• Height ranges from 74-140cm. Is thought to be live around 15 years.
• The body posture of Red K angaroos is upright except when they eat.
• Their fur is velvety to the touch.
• The front limbs of a red kangaroo are small and short. The hind feet are
lengthened and powerful.
• It’ s muzzle, toes and tip of tail are black.

• Red kangaroos are distributed throughout inland A ustralia and occupy
mixed habitats of open shrub lands, grasslands, mallee scrubs, mulga
country, and desert. A lso found in rain forests of the A therton Tableland
Region of Queensland.
4. FE E DING
• The red kangaroo eat during the night on a big variety of grasses.
Sometimes this grazing period starts late and ends early in the morning
when water is available it will drink but, if it obtains sufficient green food,
it doesn't need to do so.
5. THE Y’ RE PROTE C T
• It’ s status is classified as least concern by the IUC N, although local
authorities classify it as rare.
6. INTE RE STING THINGS
• The red kangaroo is A ustralia's largest kangaroo of the nearly 60
species in the kangaroo family. It is the K angaroo which dwells in
our " Red C enter" the arid portion of A ustralia. Move in groups
ranging from a few dozen to several hundred kangaroo, are know
as Mobs. Usually consists of a dominant male, a number of adult
females, and juveniles of both sexes.
• Red K angaroos will thump the ground with their feet to warn
other members of the mob of impending danger, such as a dingo
attack.
