Programming, Commission, and Startup of King Abdul‐Aziz University (KAU) Cooling Utility Plant
(CUP II) Process Control System (PCS) and Energy Transfer System (ETS) which composed of:
 CUP II Controlled Plant composed of 5 OM Chillers (including Condenser, Chilled Water
& Glycol Pumps), 14 CYK Chillers (including Condenser & Chilled Water Pumps), 8
Medium Voltage Distribution Pumps (2 Variable & 6 Constant Speeds), Fluid Cooler Fans
(120 Fan), 6 Ice Storage Tanks, and other related items.
 ControlLogix (Rockwell Automation) as Programmable Automation Controller of the
Plant (around 2,000 Digital IO & 600 Analog IOs).
 FactoryTalk View SE (Rockwell Automation) as SCADA of the Plant.
 Modbus RTU Communication with Plant MCCs & Switchgears (around 100).
 Ethernet/IP Communication with CUP I Plant & ETS Controllers.
 MicroLogix (Rockwell Automation) as ETS Control System.
Hossam’s Management capabilities & technical skills have proven to be a milestone for
achieving plant full and successful operation. Until Hossam became involved with the project
progress was at a standstill and organization of work activities was non‐existent.
