2. Let’s make this year the best yet.
Staff and teens have a shared responsibility to keep
the library safe and comfortable for all users.
Meet the Teen Services Department!
Let us know if you ever have questions or suggestions
about YA materials, teen programs, any library services,
or just want to say hi.
RACHEL - Teen Services Assistant
Hi, I’m Rachel! When I’m not picking out new young
adult books, graphic novels, and manga to put
on the shelves, you can find me at the Information
Desk or at programs like STEAM Fridays and Teen
Pathfinder Club. I love reading fantasy books,
playing board games, and cuddling with my two
dogs. One weird fact about me? I can speak Ubbi
Dubbi fluently. (Don’t know what that is? Find me
and I’ll say a few words for you!)
SHANEL - Teen Services Specialist
Hi everyone! You’ll be able to find me at the
Information Desk and at teen programs like Anime
Club, Travel Tuesdays, and Game Day Wednesdays.
I love to read realistic fiction and horror novels, cook
strange recipes from old cookbooks (I made a
surprisingly delicious sauerkraut chocolate cake—
seriously), and sneak my dog and cat too many
treats.
My name is Madeline, and I coordinate teen and
adult services at the Marion Library. I am excited
for the program lineup from Rachel and Shanel –
folks, get ready for a spectacular year! I like books
(true crime, memoirs, and graphic novels are some
of my favorites) and pizza. Track me down if you
have questions about the Information Desk, library
policies, or future plans at the library.
MADELINE - Adult Services Coordinator
YAS, you can...
Ask us questions and share your ideas
Are you wondering where you can go to find information
about a certain topic? Looking for homework help? Do you
have an idea for a cool after school event, or want to
suggest a book or movie we don’t have? Find Rachel,
Shanel, or a library staff member at the Information Desk.
We’re here to help.
Hang out and talk respectfully
We have a teen area just for you to relax, study, and talk
with friends. You can talk by the computers and lobby, just
remember to keep it at a conversational level (beware the
echoing lobby!). Need somewhere quieter? There are study
rooms and quiet areas where you can go.
What happens if people aren’t acting respectfully?
1. Staff will give up to 2 warnings for incidents like
excessive noise or running inside. If a third warning is
necessary, the person may be asked to leave for the day.
2. If a person acts disrespectfully toward other library users,
staff, or library property, they will be asked to leave.
Here’s what you can expect from us:
1. We will welcome every patron.
2. We will try our best to answer your questions.
3. We will respect your privacy.
4. We will listen without judgement.
