Argumentative Essay On Gay Rights
"Gay rights are just one of the social issues I'm interested in. I think that people might be less tense
about it if we would all accept the fact that not everyone is wired the same way." (Charlene Harris)
Injustice supervenes quotidian, and as citizens, we acquiesce. Homosexual, Does that antagonize
you? The aura shifts. Homosexual unity is considered illegitimate for clueless, feeble–minded
community, but why? A robust majority of the society, commencement would mention religion.
The Bible declares that a marriage should be between man and woman. How can you be a
homosexual, but go to the sanctuary and accolade God? It is conceivable. Antecedent, the bible
says we should show fondness to one and other, yet why do we hesitate to homosexuals?
Individuals classified as homosexual are seen as an atrocity. Personally, we obliterate the certitude
homosexuals are human beings. Yet, privately seem to classify ourselves as humans after we are
critics to them. Homosexuals are the proposition, is it identical to heterosexual people? On June
26, 2015, Gay marriage was legalized, but not everybody was accepting of it, and some turned to
violence to voice their opinion. Marriage! What is a marriage? Two people falling inlove and tying
the knot? I know what a marriage is, why are you questioning me, it is between a woman and a man.
It's the unity of them becoming one. What about homosexuals? You grow up thinking a man belongs
to a woman and they eventually get married, however, that is not always appropriate. For example,
we say, "all humans are equal" or "we don't discriminate", nevertheless yet a union has a dilemma
with homosexuals getting married. Take this in consideration, homosexuals pledge allegiance, fight
for our country, and pay taxes, just like a heterosexual would so why be against homosexual
marriage? Think about this, the homosexual woman or man is fighting for a country that barely
supports his/her unity.
Love is a strong connection between people. Individuals, claims that homosexuals do not have
infatuation together. What is the definition of love? According to Google, love is an intense feeling
of a deep affection. When you are born, you people automatically love you, but if you come out as a

Thesis Statements On Homosexuality
Statements on Homosexuality Homosexuality has become accepted by many in our culture today.
PBS estimates that there are 9 million members of the LGBT (Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender)
community (Greve, Joan. "LGBT America: By the Numbers."). This makes up 3.8% of the US
population. Some of these members identify as Christians. So this poses a couple of questions: does
the Bible really condemn homosexuality, can you be a gay Christian, and can two people of the same
sex be legitimately married? These are important questions for churches to have answers to as the
LGBT movement is becoming very popular.
Does the Bible really condemn homosexuality? The Bible really does condemn homosexuality.
Romans 1: 24–27 says, "And the men likewise gave up natural relations with women and were
consumed with passion for one another, men committing shameless acts with men and receiving in
themselves the due penalty for their error (Holy Bible, NIV)." In this verse, it clearly states that
the men who gave up loving women and started having relations with other men will receive the
due penalty for their error. It was not in God's design to have people of the same sex to have
relations. 1 Corinthians 6:9–10 says those who practice these kind of acts will not inherit the
kingdom of God. These verses prove that the Bible condemns homosexuality.
Can you be a gay Christian? In order to answer this question we need to establish that it is a sin to
be gay and that this is what the Bible

Gay Athletes Research Paper
Gay athletes have been deprived of jobs and opportunities ever since professional sports have
been enacted. Some of these players are talented enough to play at the pro level, but the owners
and commissioners have brought politics into the sports we love. Why is playing with gay athletes
frowned upon? Even from a young age, boys are taught that playing sports with girls somehow
makes you less of a man. These players have proven that they compete by playing at the collegiate
level and they dominate. When it comes to draft day, nobody wants to be the team with the gay guy
on their team. So, professional sports, why do you continue to judge players on their sexual
orientation, rather than physical

What Does It Mean To Be Gay Essay
Gay. What does it mean to be gay? It means you are a homosexual, being sexually attracted to
people of your own sex. Why should we legalize gay marriage? This is what I am here to talk about
today. Why is this illegal? If Australia is such a free country, people of the same– sex should be able
to marry. It is discriminative. It– is– discriminative. Why is there this expectation that the opposite
sex are meant to marry.
According to a new study by Roy Morgan Research, the proportion of Australians who identify
themselves as gay or lesbian is increasing. There is no definite number of gay people living in
Australia, however the amount that are living here, and are in love are not allowed to get
married. If your friends was gay, would you hate them for it? Yes it would be a surprise, but
would you be the person translating hate to your friend because he or she is attracted to their
own sex. I don't think any of us really think of this much. We all assume that a boy or girls likes
another boy or girl, however not the same sex. Now, imagine, your friends comes up to you and says
what boy do you like, who do you like? But you actually like a girl. What do...show more content...
Yet, it states: "God loves everyone." So what is the bible telling us? Is this really okay to discrimate
someone because he or she likes the same sex? "Ew hahaha, he's so gay", we all say to our friends.
But you never hear, "ew hahaha, he like a girl". Bullying is
I envision a change. I envision Australia to legalize gay marriages and support their homosexuality,
where many can openly admit they are gay, and they are married. I Australia to be a place where
same–sex marriage occurs without any fuss from religion and/or politics. By legalising gay
marriages in Australia, there will be more equality in our country and those those can now marry
their dearly beloved partner. By accepting homosexuality instead of denying it, we are now creating
a healthier atmosphere for

Since the late 1960's, the LGBTQ community have started to seek equality towards rights. Even
though the LGBTQ community are still discriminated today and were discriminated in the past, they
now have the formal legal equality as everyone else. Canada is seen by other countries as a leader to
the respect of the LGBTQ community. The community has received many equality benefits
throughout the year which vary from, same–sex marriage to health care. Before 1861 (laws were
controlled by Britain) it was illegal to be a homosexual and the penalty was a death sentence. Many

sentence was reduced to 10 years in prison which is still obscure. Homosexuals at this time were

for recognizing the needs for LGBTQ equality rights. The 1990's and the 2000's showed increase

marriage became legalized a year before. Now in the 2010's and above, we are trying to stop all the

it is amazing how Canada adapted so quickly to giving gays equal rights as everyone else in Canada.

Personal Narrative: Coming Out As Gay
Within life you will se many things that help shape and define you as a person. As time goes on
you can look back and see the triumphs and failures that you did that related to a specific task.
One of the toughest challenges for me was the idea of coming out as gay to my family and
friends. Throughout this chapter of my life I look back and wish I would have done things
differently, and there are many things that I feel like I triumphed at. At the age of twelve I knew
for sure that I was gay. I struggled with this internally because I knew that socially it was not
normal. Many people made fun of gay people, and they made some people feel very bad about
themselves. The first task of coming out was not to let people get to me in...show more content...
My intent was to not flaunt it, but I wanted to be open and truthful fully with my friends and
family. It is very hard to come to terms about this huge decision. I remember on a hot and humid
Monday morning I decided to tell my best friend. The air was fresh with a small hint of blooming
flowers. I pulled up to my friends house in my car, and she was waiting outside on the front–step. I
remember the bird were chirping, and there were many lingering sounds of bugs in the distance. I
got out of my car and I could sense the feeling of eagerness. With the help of my gut I finally spit
out the words to her that I was gay, and she accepted me whole–heartedly. The feeling felt so
amazing, like thousands of butterflies escaped m stomach at once. The reason why I was very
scared to tell her was because I thought she was against the whole ordeal of being gay. I feel like
overcoming that fear of losing a best friend is just a hard decision because you want to be real and
upfront with them. With this certain situation I felt like a triumph that I made was conquering my
worst fear of not being fully honest with a person. I hate having white lies and making up certain
parts of a story to impress someone. Having this mindset led me to achieve the ultimate goal of

Generally when people think about marriage they think about a man and a woman. In society today,
the expansion of gay marriages has increased significantly but quite a few people do not agree with
this community. Many think that the LGBTQ+ community is not morally correct and LGBTQ is
extremely frowned upon in religions. There has been multiple news articles about the LGBTQ being
threatened or getting discriminated upon. Luckily there are an abounding number of charities and
organizations to help with this discrimination on the community. Since the LGBTQ is a
controversial idea in the United States. Honeymaid, Nordstrom, and Campbells are working to fight
the freedom for the LGBTQ+ community by creating commercials and advertising how to be

Honey Maid is one of the many brands that shows support towards the LGBTQ community. Honey
Maid's commercial shows the relationship and happiness the gay community has when it comes to
people accepting who they are on the inside. The video presents a gay couple starting a family
and living life like any other person would. As a response to the video, a reporter said "I think any
child would be lucky to have two dads like you" (Wong). Honey maid has made it clear to the world
that they support the LGBTQ+ community. With more expanding companies creating commercials
like Honey Maid, this organization is hoping to expand the topic and make the nation be accepting
of everyone regardless of sexuality preferences. This...show more content...

Gay, Gay And Lesbian
One of the latest genres of the visual arts, photography has had a close association with gay and
lesbian culture since its establishment in the nineteenth century. Queer by definition means strange
or odd from a conventional viewpoint; unusually different. But then again as a slang word in the
LGBT community it means homosexual or noting or relating to a person who does not conform to a
normative sexual orientation or gender identity. The concept ofgay photography is enigmatic. While
a person can be described as homosexuals by sexual preference or gay consciousness, an inanimate
object such as a photograph cannot. I will be exploring how gay and lesbian themes are influencing
photography though looking at pinnacle photographers at the...show more content...
In figure one the image does show two men holding each other in an intimate way, certainly not
how two straight men would pose for a photo. They look blissful and content, this is probably the
first photo they would have taken together and I believe this is one of the first images every
produced of a gay couple. It creates an unusual warmth to the image. The background in the image
reminds me of a forbidden forest, I'm unsure of the photographer but I like to think that there's
controversial meaning to the background and the couple present. Wilhelm Von Gloeden (1836–1931)
was one of the first to treat photography as an independent art form and share his own private view
of heaven with cultured networks and fellow homosexuals across the world. "With a clearly
defined aesthetic and a sure sense of his own artistry, von Gloeden abandoned scenic postcard
photography to become the foremost proponent of a kind of purely pictorial photography which, for
its day, was revolutionary." (Haggerty, 2000, pp. 687–687). Using photography for own artist
expression is natural and encouraged in these days, but back in that time, the 'real' artists ignored
this form of photography. But by 1887, the public and critics began to understand real pictorial
photography and understand what the photographer was trying to relate to whether a feeling or a
story or a lifestyle. The development of this kind of photography lead the documentary artists like
Berenice Abbott to photograph gay,

College Admissions Essay: The LGBT Community
College Essay Throughout my life I have experienced many things that have molded me into the
person I am today, but the one I find most profound involves my coming out as a member of the
LGBT+ community. As a child I suffered tremendously with confusion, self hatred, and
misunderstanding about my own sexuality. Growing up queer in a small town is never an easy
thing. I went through years of denial, and hid all of my thoughts about what I thought could be. I
was so muddled in an all too common train of thought that my first conclusion was that I was
incapable of loving another human being. Having never experienced honest crushes or any
emotional or physical attraction to the opposite sex, I was very frightened for my ability to one day
have a family. This thought put me into a mode of paranoia and panic. I began to search any place
I could for any other possibility, hoping for some form of medication or therapy to ail me of what
I thought was a mental illness. After only a few minutes at the computer, I realized there was
nothing wrong with my mind, or capability to love. I am just gay. After this realization, I was still
confused and upset as to why I am the way that I am. I questioned if that was actually the solution or

was distraught. She still loved me, but was heartbroken by the fact that I didn't turn out to be the

night of her knowing was horrible. I stayed with my grandmother, who i had come out to months

Stereotypes Of Gay Men
You see a guy that catches your eye. But, how do you tell if a guy you like is gay or not? Is there

But ALL gay men give off subtle signs of their sexuality. So how do you tell if a guy is gay? Well,
you could always bypass the game of read–between–the–lines and ask. But few want to risk the

Why Are People Gay?
Not just a century ago, there was an act that was considered heresy; homosexuality, a different
side of sexuality found in all recesses of history. Humans are not the only ones with evidence of
homosexuality in their species, it has long been debated whether it was formed from being
genetically born that way or nurtured. The long found history has been only puzzling as the two
sides of the spectrum in views, and only being publicly accepted in the 1940s. In Natasha Tracy's
article "Why Are People Gay? Gay By Choice or Is Being Gay Genetic?" where she goes on to
discuss the legitimacy of its authenticity in being a homosexual. From the views of being born or in
fact the way humans are brought up determines their sexuality, criticizing in the end the matter of
sexuality is a matter to the individual and should not be criticized in any way.
Back before homosexuality was considered a sexuality, there were beliefs that being one was a sin.
Until the nineteenth and twentieth century, it was then changed to a mental illness and put into the
American Psychology Association (APA). Many individual underwent extensive forms of treatment
in order to be considered "cured", this was called reparative or conversion therapy, when often not
the treatment was unsuccessful only resulting in feelings of shame and guilt toward their own sexual
cognitions. Having electrodes strapped usually to the hands or genitalia or vomit inducing drugs

The Problem with Being Gay Essay
The Problem with Being Gay
About a year ago one of my best friends and I bought some glow–in–the–dark stars to paste on my
ceiling. After about four hours of neck–straining work, we shut off all the lights in my room, closed
the door, jumped onto my bed and looked up to admire the green glowing wonders above us. After a
few minutes of quiet talking, my friend said something that totally blew me away. It might have
been that he was tired from the day's work, or maybe a little light–headed from all the dust and
stucco we inhaled while placing those stars on my ceiling. Or maybe it was the darkness that made
him feel as if he had some kind of security. But something about the situation made him say one of

I remember him saying that if he were queer, he would never reach his goals and aspirations. He
would probably never be a senator or hold any type of political office because his sexual
orientation would be so hard an issue to overcome. He would never have that traditional perfect
family that he dreamed of when he was younger. He would never be a real father in that perfect
family. His high school social life would be torn apart. Rumors would fly, and his reputation
would go down the drain. But what he was most scared of was what his parents' reactions would
be to his coming out of the closet. He didn't want them to think that their son was a failure; that he
would not carry on the family name with honor. He was so scared. From then on, having been
alerted to my friend's distress, I decided to watch myself around the subject of homosexuality.
The MIT audience is obviously much more liberal than that of high school in terms of accepting and
supporting the actions of individuals whose sexual orientation pushes them towards other
individuals of the same sex. Yet I know that MIT is more the exception than the norm, and most
people are still stuck with that high school mentality. For example, people are still committing hate
crimes against lesbians and gays, people are scared of them, people make an effort to steer

Essay about Homosexuality
Homosexuality
Homosexuality is said to be a preference for affiliation and sexual activity with a person of the
same sex. The potential for homosexual behavior appears to be a basic part of human sexuality,
since many people experience homosexual interest, curiosity, or activity at some point in their
lives. Homosexual behavior has also been observed in most animal species. Many homosexuals
prefer to be called gay or, in the case of women, lesbian because of the exclusively sexual
connotation of homosexual. When individuals engage in both heterosexual and homosexual
behaviors, they are said to be bi–sexual.
A wide degree of diversity exists among the types of individuals who identify themselves as

states. Homosexuality occurs, however, even in societies that strongly condemn it. (Boswell 5,
120–124)
With the advent of modern psychiatry, homosexuality came to be seen more as an illness than a sin.
Opinions as to the origin and nature of homosexuality were once based solely on the study of
maladjusted psychiatric patients. Theories formed from such research suggest that disorders in
family relationships, particularly between mother and son, are responsible for homosexual behavior.
These theories are not convincing, not only because they are based on the assumption that
homosexuals are psychologically abnormal, but also because many heterosexuals also come from
families in which there are relationship disorders. (Thompson 12, 228) In 1973 homosexuality was
removed from the American Psychiatric Association's official list of mental disorders. Although
none of the mental health professions now officially considers homosexuality an illness, there are
still prominent theorists who insist that it is. (Ruse 48) More recent theories to account for
homosexuality have included those based on biological and sociological factors. Chromosomal
studies attempting to isolate genetic orientation at birth have been mostly inconclusive. Some social
theories have suggested that homosexual behavior may be an adaptive response to situations. For
example, a prison inmate might participate in homosexual activities while in prison but return to

What Does It Mean To Be Gay Essay
Do you think someone should be judged for what they believe? What about how they look? Well,
critics argue that people should not be gay because, people should only (be "normal") or like the
opposite gender because that is what is commonly practiced. While that might be true, people should
be able to be who they want to be and do what makes them feel comfortable. It is often thought if
someone is gay, they will do something to you especially, with a group of male teammates, but
actually, they are normal people and most times you can't even notice until it is spoken about. My
argument is that, if you are gay, people shouldn't judge you for that reason because, it is their
decision and other people can't change that even if they want to. Also, it is rude to judge them

Although their have been many mistakes made in the past regarding such human rights issues as

homophobia leads to, as Pharr depicts it, a "… rejection of friends, threats of loss of

What It Means To Be Gay
The word gay has been a part of America's history since the 1800's, throughout time, the word gay
has transformed and reshaped itself from different meaning to different meaning and onto how we
view the word today. When first learning and hearing of the word in my childhood, my friends
and I asked our parents what the word meant and they usually gave a response along the lines of,
"It's means to be happy." This is the only response we got because a lot of people are uncomfortable
with the word gay and describing what it means, especially to their children. As a result, the
neighborhood kids, myself included, simply thought the word gay meant to be happy and so we

CLASH OF SEXUALITIES?
Has a more visible LGBT movement created feeling of isolation among the other alternate sexualities
and minority groups that fall under the broad umbrella? Gayatri Gopalakrishnan, reporting from the
UNHRC examines an issue that was left largely undiscussed by the members of the committee.
When alternate sexualities are discussed, the first mental image that creeps into the minds of most
people is that of a white, gay or lesbian couple. The reasons of it are multi–fold.
One, the stereotyping of individuals belonging to a nonconforming gender identity by the media and
other public broadcasting outlets.
Two, even among the LGBT community, those who don't fit into the rigid boxes are made to feel
like an outsider.

The LGBT community has been widely seen as a very open and accepting one. However, people
like Mona, might sometimes feel alienated there as well, due to some supremacists in that
community as well. Such people might feel confined by the boundaries set by the LGBT community

Apart from women like Mona, there are others who feel alienated by both, the mainstream society
and the LGBT community as well. The LGBT community is largely composed of lesbians, gays,
bisexuals and recently transsexuals. When the LGBT movement become more widespread in the
liberal Western societies, they have left behind some people who do not fit into the rigid constructs
of gender identity. This includes the various non–gender conforming people, like the gender fluid,
gender queer or intersex.
Even in countries that have recognised and provided the LGBT community with various rights, the
other sexualities that fall outside the gender binary and cisnormativity are largely ignored and their

Some countries, like India, have recognised the existence of a third gender who are people who fall

Reflective Essay On Being Gay
Sexuality is the way people experience and express themselves as sexual beings, and this article
points out that it is not always black and white. I think sexuality is fluid meaning that a person's
sexual orientation, whether over a lifetime, years, months or sometimes weeks or days at a time
will change. I do not think being a homosexual is "hardwired" into human beings. People are
constantly changing their minds and experiencing new things. I will be honest I have hooked up
with a girl before. I don't define myself as a lesbian or bisexual, and I am not trying to hide my
sexuality. I declare myself straight because I am sexual attracted to men. I know I am not gay
because I have been with a girl. No one is born 100% gay or a 100% straight, everyone can become
gay or straight in their lifetime. Sexual orientation is influenced by many factors, such as, culture,
environment, lifestyle, biological just to say a few. I do think that being gay is influenced
biologically. However, I don't think that it is a major factor of being gay. In my opinion once a
person decides on what they like sexual they stick with that. I personally think being gay is just
what they want, and in the article they point out that words like choice," "preference" and "lifestyle"
were used to oppress homosexuality.
A person's sexuality changes throughout a person's life and is considered to be fluid. In practical
sense, all that really matters socially is a person's sexual orientation. What this means

My Experience Of Being Gay Essay
I can remember most of the papers I have written in high school and I never thought to myself that
I would be writing my experience of being gay. I guess because I just never pictured myself talking
about something so deep. Everybody has their own story of how they came out and let me tell you,
it is not easy at all. Even though today in this generation we have laws now saying it is legal to get
married the same sex and there are more people coming out but it is still dangerous to walk
surrounded by the hatred of people. Before I go any further, let me take you back to where it all
started. When I was little, I grew up with my family. I barely had any friends since I was bullied so
much throughout elementary and middle school. I was bullied really bad, I would get kick, thrown,
pushed around like a doll, and even been spit as well. I never cause any trouble but as I look back, I
can see why I was bully. I was bully because my height, my weight, my race, and the way I was
dress. I was probably a size of a midget but skinny as hell. There was hardly in Hispanics in my
elementary so that is another reason why I was bully. My clothing was used more than 1 because
my family was poor when I was growing up. Since I was bully, I never put myself out there to the
class because it made me shy to even speak. I would hardly talk to anybody especially to my
teacher. As time pass by, I manage to meet a friend along the way who I was really comfortable
with. I even had a crush on him. At

  • 2. Argumentative Essay On Gay Rights "Gay rights are just one of the social issues I'm interested in. I think that people might be less tense about it if we would all accept the fact that not everyone is wired the same way." (Charlene Harris) Injustice supervenes quotidian, and as citizens, we acquiesce. Homosexual, Does that antagonize you? The aura shifts. Homosexual unity is considered illegitimate for clueless, feeble–minded community, but why? A robust majority of the society, commencement would mention religion. The Bible declares that a marriage should be between man and woman. How can you be a homosexual, but go to the sanctuary and accolade God? It is conceivable. Antecedent, the bible says we should show fondness to one and other, yet why do we hesitate to homosexuals? Individuals classified as homosexual are seen as an atrocity. Personally, we obliterate the certitude homosexuals are human beings. Yet, privately seem to classify ourselves as humans after we are critics to them. Homosexuals are the proposition, is it identical to heterosexual people? On June 26, 2015, Gay marriage was legalized, but not everybody was accepting of it, and some turned to violence to voice their opinion. Marriage! What is a marriage? Two people falling inlove and tying the knot? I know what a marriage is, why are you questioning me, it is between a woman and a man. It's the unity of them becoming one. What about homosexuals? You grow up thinking a man belongs to a woman and they eventually get married, however, that is not always appropriate. For example, we say, "all humans are equal" or "we don't discriminate", nevertheless yet a union has a dilemma with homosexuals getting married. Take this in consideration, homosexuals pledge allegiance, fight for our country, and pay taxes, just like a heterosexual would so why be against homosexual marriage? Think about this, the homosexual woman or man is fighting for a country that barely supports his/her unity. Love is a strong connection between people. Individuals, claims that homosexuals do not have infatuation together. What is the definition of love? According to Google, love is an intense feeling of a deep affection. When you are born, you people automatically love you, but if you come out as a Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 3. Thesis Statements On Homosexuality Statements on Homosexuality Homosexuality has become accepted by many in our culture today. PBS estimates that there are 9 million members of the LGBT (Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender) community (Greve, Joan. "LGBT America: By the Numbers."). This makes up 3.8% of the US population. Some of these members identify as Christians. So this poses a couple of questions: does the Bible really condemn homosexuality, can you be a gay Christian, and can two people of the same sex be legitimately married? These are important questions for churches to have answers to as the LGBT movement is becoming very popular. Does the Bible really condemn homosexuality? The Bible really does condemn homosexuality. Romans 1: 24–27 says, "And the men likewise gave up natural relations with women and were consumed with passion for one another, men committing shameless acts with men and receiving in themselves the due penalty for their error (Holy Bible, NIV)." In this verse, it clearly states that the men who gave up loving women and started having relations with other men will receive the due penalty for their error. It was not in God's design to have people of the same sex to have relations. 1 Corinthians 6:9–10 says those who practice these kind of acts will not inherit the kingdom of God. These verses prove that the Bible condemns homosexuality. Can you be a gay Christian? In order to answer this question we need to establish that it is a sin to be gay and that this is what the Bible Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 4. Gay Athletes Research Paper Gay athletes have been deprived of jobs and opportunities ever since professional sports have been enacted. Some of these players are talented enough to play at the pro level, but the owners and commissioners have brought politics into the sports we love. Why is playing with gay athletes frowned upon? Even from a young age, boys are taught that playing sports with girls somehow makes you less of a man. These players have proven that they compete by playing at the collegiate level and they dominate. When it comes to draft day, nobody wants to be the team with the gay guy on their team. So, professional sports, why do you continue to judge players on their sexual orientation, rather than physical Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 5. What Does It Mean To Be Gay Essay Gay. What does it mean to be gay? It means you are a homosexual, being sexually attracted to people of your own sex. Why should we legalize gay marriage? This is what I am here to talk about today. Why is this illegal? If Australia is such a free country, people of the same– sex should be able to marry. It is discriminative. It– is– discriminative. Why is there this expectation that the opposite sex are meant to marry. According to a new study by Roy Morgan Research, the proportion of Australians who identify themselves as gay or lesbian is increasing. There is no definite number of gay people living in Australia, however the amount that are living here, and are in love are not allowed to get married. If your friends was gay, would you hate them for it? Yes it would be a surprise, but would you be the person translating hate to your friend because he or she is attracted to their own sex. I don't think any of us really think of this much. We all assume that a boy or girls likes another boy or girl, however not the same sex. Now, imagine, your friends comes up to you and says what boy do you like, who do you like? But you actually like a girl. What do...show more content... Yet, it states: "God loves everyone." So what is the bible telling us? Is this really okay to discrimate someone because he or she likes the same sex? "Ew hahaha, he's so gay", we all say to our friends. But you never hear, "ew hahaha, he like a girl". Bullying is I envision a change. I envision Australia to legalize gay marriages and support their homosexuality, where many can openly admit they are gay, and they are married. I Australia to be a place where same–sex marriage occurs without any fuss from religion and/or politics. By legalising gay marriages in Australia, there will be more equality in our country and those those can now marry their dearly beloved partner. By accepting homosexuality instead of denying it, we are now creating a healthier atmosphere for Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 6. Essay On Lgbtq Community Since the late 1960's, the LGBTQ community have started to seek equality towards rights. Even though the LGBTQ community are still discriminated today and were discriminated in the past, they now have the formal legal equality as everyone else. Canada is seen by other countries as a leader to the respect of the LGBTQ community. The community has received many equality benefits throughout the year which vary from, same–sex marriage to health care. Before 1861 (laws were controlled by Britain) it was illegal to be a homosexual and the penalty was a death sentence. Many look back with disgust at the horrible past that Canada had with homosexuality. After 1861, the sentence was reduced to 10 years in prison which is still obscure. In 1992, gays and lesbians were allowed to join the military and in 1995 LGBTQ were allowed to adopt. By 1999, the court of Canada ruled that gays were to have the same rights as straights. This rule wasn't implemented until 2005 in which same–sex marriage became legalized a year before. Now in the 2010's and above, we are trying to stop all the discrimination against the LGBTQ. All these years and events are historically significant because it is amazing how Canada adapted so quickly to giving gays equal rights as everyone else in Canada. • 7. Personal Narrative: Coming Out As Gay Within life you will se many things that help shape and define you as a person. As time goes on you can look back and see the triumphs and failures that you did that related to a specific task. One of the toughest challenges for me was the idea of coming out as gay to my family and friends. Throughout this chapter of my life I look back and wish I would have done things differently, and there are many things that I feel like I triumphed at. At the age of twelve I knew for sure that I was gay. I struggled with this internally because I knew that socially it was not normal. Many people made fun of gay people, and they made some people feel very bad about themselves. The first task of coming out was not to let people get to me in...show more content... My intent was to not flaunt it, but I wanted to be open and truthful fully with my friends and family. It is very hard to come to terms about this huge decision. I remember on a hot and humid Monday morning I decided to tell my best friend. The air was fresh with a small hint of blooming flowers. I pulled up to my friends house in my car, and she was waiting outside on the front–step. I remember the bird were chirping, and there were many lingering sounds of bugs in the distance. I got out of my car and I could sense the feeling of eagerness. With the help of my gut I finally spit out the words to her that I was gay, and she accepted me whole–heartedly. The feeling felt so amazing, like thousands of butterflies escaped m stomach at once. The reason why I was very scared to tell her was because I thought she was against the whole ordeal of being gay. I feel like overcoming that fear of losing a best friend is just a hard decision because you want to be real and upfront with them. With this certain situation I felt like a triumph that I made was conquering my worst fear of not being fully honest with a person. I hate having white lies and making up certain parts of a story to impress someone. Having this mindset led me to achieve the ultimate goal of coming out to Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 8. Argumentative Essay On Lgbtq Generally when people think about marriage they think about a man and a woman. In society today, the expansion of gay marriages has increased significantly but quite a few people do not agree with this community. Many think that the LGBTQ+ community is not morally correct and LGBTQ is extremely frowned upon in religions. There has been multiple news articles about the LGBTQ being threatened or getting discriminated upon. Luckily there are an abounding number of charities and organizations to help with this discrimination on the community. Since the LGBTQ is a controversial idea in the United States. Honeymaid, Nordstrom, and Campbells are working to fight the freedom for the LGBTQ+ community by creating commercials and advertising how to be themselves. Honey Maid is one of the many brands that shows support towards the LGBTQ community. Honey Maid's commercial shows the relationship and happiness the gay community has when it comes to people accepting who they are on the inside. The video presents a gay couple starting a family and living life like any other person would. As a response to the video, a reporter said "I think any child would be lucky to have two dads like you" (Wong). Honey maid has made it clear to the world that they support the LGBTQ+ community. With more expanding companies creating commercials like Honey Maid, this organization is hoping to expand the topic and make the nation be accepting of everyone regardless of sexuality preferences. This...show more content... This is showing how different organizations can work and show different perspectives on the LGBTQ community. • 9. Gay, Gay And Lesbian One of the latest genres of the visual arts, photography has had a close association with gay and lesbian culture since its establishment in the nineteenth century. Queer by definition means strange or odd from a conventional viewpoint; unusually different. But then again as a slang word in the LGBT community it means homosexual or noting or relating to a person who does not conform to a normative sexual orientation or gender identity. The concept ofgay photography is enigmatic. While a person can be described as homosexuals by sexual preference or gay consciousness, an inanimate object such as a photograph cannot. I will be exploring how gay and lesbian themes are influencing photography though looking at pinnacle photographers at the...show more content... In figure one the image does show two men holding each other in an intimate way, certainly not how two straight men would pose for a photo. They look blissful and content, this is probably the first photo they would have taken together and I believe this is one of the first images every produced of a gay couple. It creates an unusual warmth to the image. The background in the image reminds me of a forbidden forest, I'm unsure of the photographer but I like to think that there's controversial meaning to the background and the couple present. Wilhelm Von Gloeden (1836–1931) was one of the first to treat photography as an independent art form and share his own private view of heaven with cultured networks and fellow homosexuals across the world. "With a clearly defined aesthetic and a sure sense of his own artistry, von Gloeden abandoned scenic postcard photography to become the foremost proponent of a kind of purely pictorial photography which, for its day, was revolutionary." (Haggerty, 2000, pp. 687–687). Using photography for own artist expression is natural and encouraged in these days, but back in that time, the 'real' artists ignored this form of photography. But by 1887, the public and critics began to understand real pictorial photography and understand what the photographer was trying to relate to whether a feeling or a story or a lifestyle. The development of this kind of photography lead the documentary artists like Berenice Abbott to photograph gay, Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 10. College Admissions Essay: The LGBT Community College Essay Throughout my life I have experienced many things that have molded me into the person I am today, but the one I find most profound involves my coming out as a member of the LGBT+ community. As a child I suffered tremendously with confusion, self hatred, and misunderstanding about my own sexuality. Growing up queer in a small town is never an easy thing. I went through years of denial, and hid all of my thoughts about what I thought could be. I was so muddled in an all too common train of thought that my first conclusion was that I was incapable of loving another human being. Having never experienced honest crushes or any emotional or physical attraction to the opposite sex, I was very frightened for my ability to one day have a family. This thought put me into a mode of paranoia and panic. I began to search any place I could for any other possibility, hoping for some form of medication or therapy to ail me of what I thought was a mental illness. After only a few minutes at the computer, I realized there was nothing wrong with my mind, or capability to love. I am just gay. After this realization, I was still confused and upset as to why I am the way that I am. I questioned if that was actually the solution or if it was just me...show more content... She still loved me, but was heartbroken by the fact that I didn't turn out to be the daughter she expected. I had hidden my true self from her for years, and she was angry. That first night of her knowing was horrible. I stayed with my grandmother, who i had come out to months before, and just prayed she would calm down Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 11. Stereotypes Of Gay Men You see a guy that catches your eye. But, how do you tell if a guy you like is gay or not? Is there any signs to know it? Actually, many gay men don't fit stereotypes. Some gay men even train to be masculine. These men have deep voices, flirt with women, walk like a man, and do manly things. But ALL gay men give off subtle signs of their sexuality. So how do you tell if a guy is gay? Well, you could always bypass the game of read–between–the–lines and ask. But few want to risk the embarrassment. These 2 tips allow me to hone in on signals closeted men give off and determine who swings my way. 1. Get to know him Just go and talk about things that relate to him and see his reaction. • 12. Why Are People Gay? Not just a century ago, there was an act that was considered heresy; homosexuality, a different side of sexuality found in all recesses of history. Humans are not the only ones with evidence of homosexuality in their species, it has long been debated whether it was formed from being genetically born that way or nurtured. The long found history has been only puzzling as the two sides of the spectrum in views, and only being publicly accepted in the 1940s. In Natasha Tracy's article "Why Are People Gay? Gay By Choice or Is Being Gay Genetic?" where she goes on to discuss the legitimacy of its authenticity in being a homosexual. From the views of being born or in fact the way humans are brought up determines their sexuality, criticizing in the end the matter of sexuality is a matter to the individual and should not be criticized in any way. Back before homosexuality was considered a sexuality, there were beliefs that being one was a sin. Until the nineteenth and twentieth century, it was then changed to a mental illness and put into the American Psychology Association (APA). Many individual underwent extensive forms of treatment in order to be considered "cured", this was called reparative or conversion therapy, when often not the treatment was unsuccessful only resulting in feelings of shame and guilt toward their own sexual cognitions. • 13. The Problem with Being Gay Essay The Problem with Being Gay About a year ago one of my best friends and I bought some glow–in–the–dark stars to paste on my ceiling. After about four hours of neck–straining work, we shut off all the lights in my room, closed the door, jumped onto my bed and looked up to admire the green glowing wonders above us. After a few minutes of quiet talking, my friend said something that totally blew me away. It might have been that he was tired from the day's work, or maybe a little light–headed from all the dust and stucco we inhaled while placing those stars on my ceiling. Or maybe it was the darkness that made him feel as if he had some kind of security. But something about the situation made him say one of the most serious things he...show more content... I remember him saying that if he were queer, he would never reach his goals and aspirations. He would probably never be a senator or hold any type of political office because his sexual orientation would be so hard an issue to overcome. He would never have that traditional perfect family that he dreamed of when he was younger. He would never be a real father in that perfect family. His high school social life would be torn apart. Rumors would fly, and his reputation would go down the drain. But what he was most scared of was what his parents' reactions would be to his coming out of the closet. He didn't want them to think that their son was a failure; that he would not carry on the family name with honor. He was so scared. From then on, having been alerted to my friend's distress, I decided to watch myself around the subject of homosexuality. The MIT audience is obviously much more liberal than that of high school in terms of accepting and supporting the actions of individuals whose sexual orientation pushes them towards other individuals of the same sex. Yet I know that MIT is more the exception than the norm, and most people are still stuck with that high school mentality. For example, people are still committing hate crimes against lesbians and gays, people are scared of them, people make an effort to steer Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 14. Essay about Homosexuality Homosexuality Homosexuality is said to be a preference for affiliation and sexual activity with a person of the same sex. The potential for homosexual behavior appears to be a basic part of human sexuality, since many people experience homosexual interest, curiosity, or activity at some point in their lives. Homosexual behavior has also been observed in most animal species. Many homosexuals prefer to be called gay or, in the case of women, lesbian because of the exclusively sexual connotation of homosexual. When individuals engage in both heterosexual and homosexual behaviors, they are said to be bi–sexual. A wide degree of diversity exists among the types of individuals who identify themselves as homosexuals. The popular...show more content... states. Homosexuality occurs, however, even in societies that strongly condemn it. (Boswell 5, 120–124) With the advent of modern psychiatry, homosexuality came to be seen more as an illness than a sin. Opinions as to the origin and nature of homosexuality were once based solely on the study of maladjusted psychiatric patients. Theories formed from such research suggest that disorders in family relationships, particularly between mother and son, are responsible for homosexual behavior. These theories are not convincing, not only because they are based on the assumption that homosexuals are psychologically abnormal, but also because many heterosexuals also come from families in which there are relationship disorders. (Thompson 12, 228) In 1973 homosexuality was removed from the American Psychiatric Association's official list of mental disorders. Although none of the mental health professions now officially considers homosexuality an illness, there are still prominent theorists who insist that it is. (Ruse 48) More recent theories to account for homosexuality have included those based on biological and sociological factors. Chromosomal studies attempting to isolate genetic orientation at birth have been mostly inconclusive. Some social theories have suggested that homosexual behavior may be an adaptive response to situations. For example, a prison inmate might participate in homosexual activities while in prison but return to Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 15. What Does It Mean To Be Gay Essay Do you think someone should be judged for what they believe? What about how they look? Well, critics argue that people should not be gay because, people should only (be "normal") or like the opposite gender because that is what is commonly practiced. While that might be true, people should be able to be who they want to be and do what makes them feel comfortable. It is often thought if someone is gay, they will do something to you especially, with a group of male teammates, but actually, they are normal people and most times you can't even notice until it is spoken about. My argument is that, if you are gay, people shouldn't judge you for that reason because, it is their decision and other people can't change that even if they want to. Also, it is rude to judge them because there is nothing wrong with being gay....show more content... It is also bad for the player because, the player will lose a lot of fans which can get them a lesser value contract or get them kicked off the team. Also, they risk a team not wanting them because it will give the team a bad brand or it will lower ticket and jersey sales. Statistics show that the year of 2013, (when Jason Collin became openly gay) jason collins was traded 2 times and he played for 3 teams within 1 year. According to recent research, he went from making 1.352 million dollars in a season (2013) to making $82,000 on a 10 day contract and then to only $271,000 for the rest of the Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 16. Gay And Lesbian Rights Essay Gay And Lesbian Rights When I read the statement that said "we shouldn't devote our efforts to promoting the rights of lesbians and gay men, since there are more important and urgent human rights issues that deserve our attention…." I was taken aback. As it stands now, nothing seems more important than bringing both equality, and general acceptance, to gay and lesbian people. Although their have been many mistakes made in the past regarding such human rights issues as slavery, race and gender rights, gay and lesbian rights should be pushed to the top of our list of priorities in that gays and lesbians are the people who appear to be facing the most discrimination and lack of ethical treatment...show more content... They are unable to live their lives based on how they believe other people are going to treat them once they find out that they don't live the same lifestyle as them. They believe they will be treated differently, harassed and be given an all–round heartless response simply based on their sexual preference. What is even more disturbing is that in many cases this is what is happening: homophobia leads to, as Pharr depicts it, a "… rejection of friends, threats of loss of employment, and threats upon (his) life; and I have witnessed far worse things happening to other lesbian and gay people: loss of children, beatings, rape, death".1 For this reason it is crucial that gay and lesbian rights be concentrated on as heavily as possible, even over all others forms of rights. Despite the continuing efforts that have been made on behalf of such organizations as GLAAD (Gay and Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation), homosexual people continue to face prejudice every day of their lives. Just like everyone else living sexual lives, the topic of relationship's and the role they play in their lives is an important one. The fact that such relationship–related factors like children, marriage and adoption are so easily taken away from gay and lesbian people is a major problem that needs to be dealt with, although ideally it should be treated in the exact manner as it is towards heterosexual people (who Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 17. What It Means To Be Gay The word gay has been a part of America's history since the 1800's, throughout time, the word gay has transformed and reshaped itself from different meaning to different meaning and onto how we view the word today. When first learning and hearing of the word in my childhood, my friends and I asked our parents what the word meant and they usually gave a response along the lines of, "It's means to be happy." This is the only response we got because a lot of people are uncomfortable with the word gay and describing what it means, especially to their children. As a result, the neighborhood kids, myself included, simply thought the word gay meant to be happy and so we would go around trying our new word say, "Hi! I'm gay!" We were not wrong, but...show more content... According to the Pew Research Center, "The increase in the share of adults who favor same–sex marriage is due in part to generational change. Younger generations express higher levels of support for same–sex marriage". With newer generations, growing up involves being surrounded by many different sexualitys, whether its two same sex parents, different sexuality friends, or siblings. This exposal from early childhood is why the younger generation finds it easy to accept change and why it's harder for the older generations. Following their kids suit, those who are indecisive can be seen integrating and changing their minds on this new expression, while those in the older generations are usually close minded and opposed simply because that is how they were born and raised to view the Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 18. Gay Identity Research Paper CLASH OF SEXUALITIES? Has a more visible LGBT movement created feeling of isolation among the other alternate sexualities and minority groups that fall under the broad umbrella? Gayatri Gopalakrishnan, reporting from the UNHRC examines an issue that was left largely undiscussed by the members of the committee. When alternate sexualities are discussed, the first mental image that creeps into the minds of most people is that of a white, gay or lesbian couple. The reasons of it are multi–fold. One, the stereotyping of individuals belonging to a nonconforming gender identity by the media and other public broadcasting outlets. Two, even among the LGBT community, those who don't fit into the rigid boxes are made to feel like an outsider. For instance,...show more content... The LGBT community has been widely seen as a very open and accepting one. However, people like Mona, might sometimes feel alienated there as well, due to some supremacists in that community as well. Such people might feel confined by the boundaries set by the LGBT community as well. Apart from women like Mona, there are others who feel alienated by both, the mainstream society and the LGBT community as well. The LGBT community is largely composed of lesbians, gays, bisexuals and recently transsexuals. When the LGBT movement become more widespread in the liberal Western societies, they have left behind some people who do not fit into the rigid constructs of gender identity. This includes the various non–gender conforming people, like the gender fluid, gender queer or intersex. Even in countries that have recognised and provided the LGBT community with various rights, the other sexualities that fall outside the gender binary and cisnormativity are largely ignored and their concerns are not adequately addressed. Some countries, like India, have recognised the existence of a third gender who are people who fall outside the binary gender system. Far more has to be done, than merely recognising their Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 19. Reflective Essay On Being Gay Sexuality is the way people experience and express themselves as sexual beings, and this article points out that it is not always black and white. I think sexuality is fluid meaning that a person's sexual orientation, whether over a lifetime, years, months or sometimes weeks or days at a time will change. I do not think being a homosexual is "hardwired" into human beings. People are constantly changing their minds and experiencing new things. I will be honest I have hooked up with a girl before. I don't define myself as a lesbian or bisexual, and I am not trying to hide my sexuality. I declare myself straight because I am sexual attracted to men. I know I am not gay because I have been with a girl. No one is born 100% gay or a 100% straight, everyone can become gay or straight in their lifetime. Sexual orientation is influenced by many factors, such as, culture, environment, lifestyle, biological just to say a few. I do think that being gay is influenced biologically. However, I don't think that it is a major factor of being gay. In my opinion once a person decides on what they like sexual they stick with that. I personally think being gay is just what they want, and in the article they point out that words like choice," "preference" and "lifestyle" were used to oppress homosexuality. A person's sexuality changes throughout a person's life and is considered to be fluid. In practical sense, all that really matters socially is a person's sexual orientation. • 20. My Experience Of Being Gay Essay I can remember most of the papers I have written in high school and I never thought to myself that I would be writing my experience of being gay. I guess because I just never pictured myself talking about something so deep. Everybody has their own story of how they came out and let me tell you, it is not easy at all. Even though today in this generation we have laws now saying it is legal to get married the same sex and there are more people coming out but it is still dangerous to walk surrounded by the hatred of people. Before I go any further, let me take you back to where it all started. When I was little, I grew up with my family. I barely had any friends since I was bullied so much throughout elementary and middle school. I was bullied really bad, I would get kick, thrown, pushed around like a doll, and even been spit as well. I never cause any trouble but as I look back, I can see why I was bully. I was bully because my height, my weight, my race, and the way I was dress. I was probably a size of a midget but skinny as hell. There was hardly in Hispanics in my elementary so that is another reason why I was bully. My clothing was used more than 1 because my family was poor when I was growing up. Since I was bully, I never put myself out there to the class because it made me shy to even speak. I would hardly talk to anybody especially to my teacher. As time pass by, I manage to meet a friend along the way who I was really comfortable with. I even had a crush on him. At Get more content on HelpWriting.net
