2. When and how did Beyoncé's career
begin?
• Beyonce first started off in a girl group called
‘Destiny’s Child’ along with Kelly Rowland and
Michelle Williams. They were signed to
Columbia Records and Beyoncé was seen to
be the lead singer of the group. However in
2001 the group announced their hiatus and
Beyoncé began her solo career.
3. Who creates her outfits and tour
concepts?
• Ty Hunter was her long time stylist. He and Raquel
Smith both met with Beyoncé on numerous occasions
to get an idea of what style of clothing she would most
prefer. After meeting with her, they would contact
different designers and showrooms for them to give
their interpretation of what her look should be. They
would give the designers an idea of what they think
Beyoncé should look like, e.g. modern day Bonnie and
Clyde. Then they would all come up with their sketches
then Beyoncé would choose her favourite sketches
then they would later create the outfit. Her ‘One The
Run’ tour was one of her most popular tours which
Hunter had styled her clothing for.
4. How is this funded?
• Her tours are mostly funded by ticket sales
and the selling of albums and singles.
5. Beyoncé's fans
• Beyoncé's fan base is known as the ‘Beehive’s’.
They aren’t always fully supportive of her
decisions. One example of this is when she
announced that she had turned vegan, her
fans were outraged because it seemed as
though she was more focused on becoming
slimmer, and promoting this by encouraging
others to eat healthier.
7. Views Beyoncé has about the world
• Beyoncé is a philanthropist and believes that it
is her duty to help those in need. She founded
a charity with Kelly Rowland called the
‘Survivor Foundation’ to help victims of
hurricane Katrina. She’s also held a series of
food drives before her concerts in 2006 t6o
collect the food that was so desperately
needed by victims.
