WATER RELATION OF
CELL
2. What is Osmoregulation?
An amount of water and salt in the solute is called Osmoregulation
Water Solvent Solutes
Water is a universal solvent and solvent is for solutes.
Solutes of Body not environment
3. Amount of water in cell will be specific and depend the
structure and function of the cell
OR
To perform the function of cell.
What is the percentage of water in brain cell and bone
cell?
Brain Cell = 80%
Bone cell = 22%
Overall human body have almost 60-70% amount of water
if a man weight is 100 kg then in his body the ratio of
water will be 60-70kg.
5. TONICITY
Tonicity means an amount of Solutes/Concentration of Solutes
in the cell
Types of Tonicity
Hypotonic
Hypertonic
Isotonic
Hypotonic: Hypo mean Less and Tonicity mean “an amount of
solutes” Any solution that have a less amount of solutes is called
Hypotonic
6. Hypertonic: Hyper mean troppo (Maximum). Any solution that
have a troppo amount of solutes is called Hypertonic
Isotonic: Iso mean “same”. Any solution that have a same
amount of solutes is called Isotonic.
NOTE
If I give you a cell or single solute and ask you to about the
link of which characteristic of Tonicity it belongs, you did not
define because we did not explain the single nature of solution
until we have to another solution to compare it.
7. APPLY THIS CONCEPT OF ON ANIMAL CELL
IMPORTANT FACTOR
Animal cell is live to like in normal condition
Outside environment of cell
will be Hypertonic bcs both
are relatives.
The environment of
cell is Isotonic
The environment of
cell is Hypertonic
Always Remember:
In Osmosis water molecules always
move from Hypotonic to hypertonic
because Solute tend to less and
solvent molecules tend more.
Here are three beakers and each of them have a animal
cell.
The environment of
cell is Hypotonic
Outside environment of
cell will be Hypotonic
Outside environment of cell will
be isotonic bcs both environment
will be same.
Now, If we apply
Osmoregulation
then what will be
happened? And How
cell create a
balance?
8. Now, If we apply Osmoregulation then what will be happened?
And How cell will create a balance?
Outside environment
hypotonic and inside cell
hypertonic. Water
molecules shifted from
outside to inside. Cell will
be swell and water gain.
Animal cell is retain in
hypertonic environment
and its own body is
hypotonic so the water
molecules will come out.
Water will be loss and cell
become shrink.
If one molecule go outside
to the cell and also one
molecule will be entered
into the cell. Its mean
situation will remain in
equilibrium condition. No
net gain or loss of water
9. If we implement this situation on our body let suppose eyes
drop that will be belongs to which condition?
Hypotonic
Hypertonic
Isotonic
Definitely it will be isotonic because if we implement
hypertonic or hypotonic the cell will be shrink or swell.
