2. In what ways does your media product use, develop or challenge forms and conventions of real media products? Elements which were used in my magazine and elements in which I indentified within other magazine : Masthead Fonts Text (Writing Style) Photographs Barcode Colour Scheme Page Numbers Date Pull Quotes Cover Lines Layout Issue number
3. How did the magazines I produced and the magazine I looked at present those elements? M A S T H E A D My own masthead The magazines I researched all had mastheads set in the same style. This being a bold font in the masthead always sitting behind the featured artist or photograph . To a certain extent I followed the stereotypical layout of a rock magazine the difference being my masthead didn’t sit behind my image but I used a bold attracting font. So here I have used and developed the conventions of a music magazine masthead.
4. F O N T S As you can see in comparison to my font used and the one used on the contents I have followed the convention. I have used a cracked font which gives a broken effect and increases the edginess of the magazine. In terms of the font used on the heading I challenged this convention as I didn’t follow through with the broken font effect. I used a font similar, but wanted my contents to lot’s of various fonts to increase the magazine visual and increase the interest of the magazine been something new and unique. As seen on the Kerrang magazine I used a basic readable font so in this case I followed the convention. I also used a bolder font to highlight the main point of the article for example where Kerrang has wrote FEEDBACK bold capital letters I also did this but to what was relevant to the content of my magazine For the editors letter I followed the convention by using a clear readable font. I also liked as seen before added a personal touch by incorporating my signature .
5. P H O T O G R A P H Y As you can see both my magazine, Kerrang’s and Rocksound have used a selection of live images. This deepens the article and connects more with the audience, I didn’t develop this convention and followed it because I thought it was the best way to attract my audience and draw them in. The fact they are live images personalises the article or gig review.
6. C O L O U R S C H E M E MY COLOUR SCHEME Kerrang colour scheme As you can see I have followed the convention of sticking to a set colour scheme. I think this makes a magazine look more professional and increases audience potential. Although the colour scheme is fairly dark the connotations reflect the audience.
