2. What is Salvia
• Salvia is a herb that comes from the mint family
• Native to southern Mexico
• This herb is a drug that is in the hallucinogenic family
• The drug makes one hallucinate and makes them feel as if they are
not in reality
• The high one gets from the drug can last anywhere from 10 minutes
to an hour
3. What is a Hallucinogen ?
• Hallucinogens change the way a person perceives time, motion,
visuals, self, colors and sounds
• People may not be able to think or communicate correctly and this
can lead to dangerous behaviors to either the user or someone else
• Users feel disconnected from their own body

• Cut up into pieces and smoked (most popular use)
• The effects when smoked occur almost instantly
• Chewed or made into tea

• No research proves that salvia is physically addictive

• Originally used by the Malatec tribes of Southern Mexico in rituals
• Now over 1.8 million people have tried it for the trip that they get
• Used for deep meditation purposes
8. Restrictions
• Only illegal in some states and countries
• Shouldn’t be used by a woman who is pregnant
• Shouldn’t be used by a person with any type of mental disease
