2. Daguerreotype
• Daguerreotype was the first commercially working successful form of
photography it was invented around 1837.
• It is like a mirror the image is directly printed onto a silvered copper raw
metal plate it is not very practical and is not easy to handle as it is easy to
wipe off.
• As the camera has to take in a lot of light most of the first images were of
still landscapes, light has to be let into the camera for 10 minutes and
when then light I taken away it stays on the silver plate
• I am not exactly sure how it works but this is a rough guide.
• It is usually shown in western films.
advantages Disadvantages
Was first camera available Not easily hand able
Takes along time
Probably quite expensive
3. Polaroid
• It works by having a chemical film behind the lens and when light
is let in the light reacts with the chemicals and recreates the
image.
• It is known as instant photography.
• It was invented in 1947 by an American Edwin land
• They are normally processed in a dark room which are taken
from the film and put onto paper, the film is processed in a dark
room to stop light from destroying the image, it is still used to
day you can by them from chemists or any camera shop.
advantages disadvantages
Pictures taken instantly Can take a while to process
Images are clear Quite chunky cameras
Quite cheap Films cannot come in contact
with light
4. Digital
• The way that I digital camera work is that when the light is let
in the camera adjusts the light input so that the image is
focused then I remembers the data of the image in different
sections of the image called pixels and stores them as binary
information and then it can recreates the image on the screen
so it can be viewed any time.
• The first digital camera was made in 1975 by Steven Sasson
but I did not work very well but since then they have
improved a lot and are now used all the time.
advantages disadvantages
Quick to take pictures Good ones can be expensive
High resolution images
