3. Introduction
Polyphenols:
Phenolic compounds are natural antioxidants present in plants
which are important to human health.
Benefits of Polyphenols:
Prevent Cardiovascular Disease
Reduce Inflammation
Lower The Incidence of Cancers
Diabetes Mellitus
Reduce Rates of Mutagenesis
Reduce Obesity
Reduce Hypertension
4. MATERIALS AND METHODS
Pomegranate was collected and
grinded.
Grinded powder was packed in air
tight polythene.
It was stored in refrigerator for
further analysis.
Extraction Of Polyphenol From
Pomegranate
5. Sample Preparation
pomegranate peel powder was taken in conical flask
sample to solvent ratio was 1:10.
ethanol was used as a solvent.
Conical flask was placed in TECATOR Shaking Water Bath for maceration.
After maceration it was filtered through whatman filter paper no. 41.
Filtrate was taken at BUCHI ROTAVAPOR to evaporate the solvent.
Then it was taken in dry Amber glass bottle and stored for determination
of Total Polyphenols.
6. The proximate analysis of pomegranate peels powder results were shown in below the table. The
moisture (%) content was 04+ 0.22, the ash content (%) was 05 +0.14 fat (%) content was 9.4 ±
0.1, similarly the pH, was found 3.75 ± 0.2, . Crude fiber was calculated (21 ± 0.6).

1. Moisture 04 ± 0.22(%)
2. Ash 05 ± 0.14(%)
3. Fat 9.4 ± 0.1(%)
4. pH 3.75 ± 0.2

RESULTS AND DISCUSSION
7. Total polyphenols Content of Pomegranate Peels
In replication I we obtain 54 and in rep II and III we have gotten 56, 57 respectively mean of
these three rep calculated was 55.67 with standard deviation of + 2.12
