The mooc that I have chosenis about childnutritionand cooking it focuses
on Eating patterns that begininchildhoodaffect healthand well-being across
the lifespan. Since the culture of eating has changed significantly in recent
decades, especially inparts of the worldwhere processedfoods dominate
our dietary intake.
The reasonwhy I love it is because this course examines contemporary child
nutritionand the impact of the individual decisions made by each family.
Also the health risks associated with obesity in childhood are also discussed.
We as the Participants will learnwhat constitutes ahealthy diet for children
and adults and how to prepare simple, deliciousfoods aimedat inspiring a
lifelong celebrationof easy home-cookedmeals.
This course will help me prepare tobe the leading healthproviders, teachers
and parents of the present andfuture.

My expectations regarding this mooc
Firstly this MOOC is not related to my field of
study. It is more of something that I am passionate
about. Back in the days when I was still at school
I use to be a huge fan of home economics which was
one of my favourite subject (which still is). I loved the
section of food and nutrition and I understood it so
well that my teacher allowed me to teach that section
in class. I am very passionate about the issues of
healthy eating because these days we live in a world
where in by many people are suffering from all sorts
of sickness and conditions of which most of them are
caused by people who eat unhealthy food. Most of
these sicknesses can be avoided only if people could
look after them self’s and watch what they eat.

I hope to learn more about food and healthy eating so
that I can also be able to assist those who do not know
much about the importance of eating healthy. How to go
about preparing a healthy meal. Things to look at when
you are buying food e.g. expiry date. ingredience to
prevent allergies and all that
My self
I am a young and vibrant university student. I am doing my third year at
the University of Johannesburg, my field of study is education of which I
love. My majoring subjects are English art and design. I love being an
educator because I help learners to discover them self’s in life, who they
are, what their goals and aspirations are in life. I help them dream, dream
big regardless of their background. Also teaching goes along with my
personality, because I am a very outspoken young man who is fun and
super active. Whatever it is that I put my mind to I attain it. I never give
up in life no matter what. I believe in working hard for everything in life.
